Skin Care Routine for Sensitive, Oily, Acne - Prone Skin

Skin Care Routine for Sensitive, Oily, Acne-Prone Skin. I use this product 2x a day (morning and night).  This toner is gentler on my skin (but I don’t get that “deep clean” feeling that I love.) This toner is great for sensitive skin, or if your skin is sunburned. This goes back to the whole stripping your skin problem I’ve been talking about. I’ve recently been using this moisturizer, and I love it! If this moisturizer isn’t for you, I would go with Cetaphil’s oily skin daily moisturizer . This product in combination with the Aczone made a huge difference in my skin. This does cause your skin to peel. This product is probably the #1 contributor in my skin clearing up. This is great for oily skin, but must be used with caution. If your skin isn’t oily, I would use the brush less. more...

The Best Morning Skin - Care Routine - Women's Health

Skin care, SPF is only half the battle. We’ve got to clean our skin and arm it with antioxidants (then UV protection) to ensure we’re really ready to face the day. To figure out how to best protect our skin from UV rays and the harmful particles suspended in the air (many of which are generated during the combustion of fossil fuels), we spoke to Debra Jaliman, M. D., a New York-based dermatologist and author of Skin Rules, about the best way to handle our morning skin-care regimens. Read on for her tips on how to tinker with the morning trifecta, no matter your skin type. Many people think, "If my skin doesn’t feel greasy, it must not be dirty." But even those with ultra-dry skin still need to cleanse in the morning, says Jaliman. “There’s oil and bacteria that’s accumulated on the skin while you’ve been sleeping all night," she says, "so it’s important to cleanse in the morning." Those with dry skin should look for a cleanser that’s creamy in consistency and stocked with hyaluronic acid, glycerin, ceramides, or other gentle moisturizers, recommends Jaliman. “The cleanser you choose is crucial in terms of not drying out your skin,” she says. But for those with oily skin, morning cleansing is a particularly important step. Jaliman suggests cleansing with a powder or glycolic- or salicylic-acid-spiked cleanser (rather than a cream) and toning the skin as well. Although those with oily skin tend to shy away from “hydrating” products, the best way for this group to get hydrated skin in the day is via a serum, since a moisturizer will just up the grease factor, says Jaliman. The best way to fight fussy skin? Look for products with short ingredient lists—like Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser ($4, Drugstore.com )—and serums that calm and soothe. more...

Daily Skin Care Tips

Here are a few simple things you can do to ensure you’ll look your very best now and for years down the road. Cleansing your skin is really the foundation of a healthy skin care routine. Wash at night to remove makeup and debris with a cleanser for your skin type. Cleanse by using a dime-size amount of cleanser and rinsing your skin with lukewarm water. Microdermabrasion, retinoids, and chemical peels are all great methods by which to exfoliate your skin by removing the dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Each is also available for in-home use if you are unable to afford treatments at a spa, so try one of these at home and you’ll notice that your skin is not only clean, but also glowing. Stick with what makes your skin look the best for you. Moisturizing your skin is a wonderful way to remain looking young and have soft skin as well. If your hair appears healthy, you look younger. When you shampoo your scalp and hair, use your fingertips to scrub your scalp thoroughly to loosen up dirt, oils, and debris. Before going to bed each night, be sure to brush your hair to remove tangles and redistribute natural oils in the hair. Believe it or not, proper nutrition and ample amounts of rest contribute to healthy skin and hair, so make sure to get the proper amounts of vitamins, minerals and nutrients in your food or via supplements. As you can see, it is really quite simple to look young, healthy and beautiful if you just take care of your hair and the skin you’re in right now. more...

Make sure you're using the right cleanser for your skin. Harsh soaps won't clear your acne, but they will irritate your skin. Alcohol-free products are the best choices if your skin is irritated by acne treatments or if you have lots of open pimples. But if toners or astringents seem to over-dry or irritate your skin, don’t use them. Ditto if you're using prescription acne medications (they already dry out your skin). You aren't going to harm your skin by not using a toner . Step 3: Apply your acne treatment medications. Many acne medications over-dry the skin, leaving the skin thirsty for moisture. Now that you've got your daily skin care routine down, let's get you an effective acne treatment plan to go along with it. more...

Manage Your Oily Skin and Fight Acne

Dermatologists agree that the most effective way to manage oily skin is to cleanse your face both morning and night. "Always use a gentle cleanser since harsh soaps can trigger the skin to increase oil production," April Armstrong, MD, assistant professor of dermatology at the University of California, Davis, says. They’re great for people with acne, but they’re also fine for people whose problem is just oily skin," Armstrong says. People often have to try several products before they find the one that works best for them." Wash with warm water, not hot, because temperature extremes can irritate skin. "I’m not a big fan of astringent toners because they tend to irritate the skin and can lead to more oil production," Cambio says. "Still, if people like using them, I recommend applying toners only on oily areas of the skin, such as the forehead, nose, and chin. "There’s a myth that some people have dry skin , some people have oily skin. more...

Best daily skin care routine for oily skin

Skin Care Routine for Oily, Acne Prone Skin. In my opinion, oily skin is the hardest skin type to take care of. Oil is not your enemy, it is a necessary thing for your skin. The use of a harsh product will only make your skin produce more oil. If you don’t moisturize you will get flaky skin on top of your oily skin. I’m not saying that you will go from oily skin to normal skin just by using different products. I’m saying you can get more control on your oil production and begin to even out your skin tone. Exfoliating too much will irritate your skin, and can spread the oil around and create more break outs. In that case use a cleanser “for all skin types”. If you are extremely oily get a moisturizer that is “oil free”. With oily skin, the excess oil will mix with the dead skin and settle in your pores (sorry if that is a gross image, but it’s true). This will soak up all extra oil without drying you out or stripping your skin. Even though you are oily and you may think you don’t need that heavy cream by your eyes- you do! The skin around the eye area is different from the rest of your face and it doesn’t produce oil the same. more...

Skin Care and A Routine

If you have to touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water - or alternatively, use a face towel. Determine your skin type and buy skin care products to suit your skin type. This is an incredibly important step because if you buy products that aren't appropriate for your skin, they will be incredibly ineffective, and may worsen the situation. Dry Skin-If your skin feels very tight and is noticeably flaky in areas, then you have dry skin. If your face is visibly shiny, and literally feels slightly wet to the touch then you have oily skin. If you have oily skin, you should tone, exfoliate, use a spot treatment, and lightly moisturize once in a while. If you have combination skin, you tend to get oily around your nose, chin, and forehead area, and dry around your cheeks. If you have sensitive skin, use a moisturizer, cleanser, and spot treatment all suitable for sensitive skin. Apply the cleanser and massage it into your skin in upwards, circular motions. By restoring your skin to its natural p H, you also make it more resistant against bacteria and micro-organisms. So after cleansing and toning you should moisturize with a face moisturizer for your skin type. Every morning and night you should treat your skin right. And with the right products you’ll see brighter skin in no time. Proactiv+ has a 3-step system that will make it easy to clean and moisturize your skin, as well as take the guess work out of the proper order to apply your skin care . Having a daily skin care routine is important for everyone, but if you suffer from acne-prone, oily skin then regularly incorporating an exfoliant, spot treatment and moisturizer is especially invaluable.
