If you start out with a chalky, cakey or oily foundation, the rest of your look will likely crumble. But, just because you’re searching for the best foundation doesn’t mean you have to pay a hefty price. For girls with dry skin, using a liquid foundation may be the best way to go, hydrating as it covers. Most drugstores will allow you to return a just-opened foundation with the original packaging and receipt, even if you’ve used it. If you have to buy the foundation to try it at home, you can always return it if it’s the wrong color. Another trick for finding the best drugstore foundation for you? Whether you’ve got oily skin , you’re looking for your perfect color match or you need some SPF in your makeup (because everyone should be), we found a drugstore foundation that’ll be perfect for you, above.
Drugstore finds that won’t break the bank. $6 here . Glides on smoothly, stays put all day, and the easy twist-up packaging lets you ditch the sharpener. $8 here . Luminoso is the most popular — for a subtle flush that’s flattering on almost any skin tone. (Though to some, the menthol scent might be off-putting.) Less than $2 here. Three cheers for any product that a) easily removes eye makeup in a single swipe, b) doesn’t feel oily and greasy afterward, and c) doesn’t eventually dry out your skin. It goes on almost sheer — so you can apply on the go and not worry about the precision that usually comes along with pencil products. But true to the stain in its name, colors are buildable and they stay on for hours. $7 here. You can’t wrong with either of these: Maybelline Great Lash has been around forever, and for good reason. Get them here and here for $7. Less than $2 here. (You can find a longer list of dupes here .) (And the lotion — perfect as a base — has built-in SPF.) $7 and $9 here and here .
‘I will be coming to UK in April and was wondering if you could suggest top ten things from Boots‘ so Anam, my top 10 UK drugstore picks just for you! Hope you enjoy the UK! If I had to choose one eyeshadow palette from the drugstore it would be these from Sleek. The shade range is wonderful, the colour pigment is fantastic and despite the slight fallout when you first apply them the longevity on the lids gets an A+ too. If you’re after something to take away shine without making your face look too flat but you can reapply throughout the day without looking cakey – this is your guy. Just a hint too much pigmentation and you end up look like good ol’ aunt sally with clown cheeks. Which is why I love these ones from GOSH, they’re not too pigmented that you could ever get it wrong but don’t need a whole lotta building for them to look visible on the skin. They’ve got the formula dead right on this one! You’ve got a dose of pigmented colour on one end and a mattifying seal on the other, ensuring that they last throughout the burger chomping that may occur. Hands down the best single eyeshadows of all time. The colours are unbelievably unique and add an almost glossy look to the lids. They’re like a pressed pigment which makes them that extra bit more special and have a buttery smooth texture so practically blend themselves into the lids. They actually last over 7 days on me and not only that they have a super easy brush that coats the nail in one swipe as well as a smooth formulation that always applies evenly over the nail.
Just like how we always reach for those boyfriend jeans that are just the right amount of worn in, our drugstore makeup is never more than an arm’s length away. For the majority of us, our first lip glosses, eyeliners, mascaras, and concealers were all purchased at the local drugstore. We’ve grown up on drugstore beauty and through all the mistakes and learning processes, we’ve found the best products to suit our needs. It may be hard to believe, but there are quite a few R 29 staffers and professional makeup artists who will routinely reach for drugstore mascaras for longer, sexier lashes versus choosing the expensive stuff. It’s drugstore beauty all the way. If you need any more convincing, just check out our lineups of the hottest buys to find out what’s new, what’s out, and what’s best for you.

The Physicians Formula Magic Mosaic Pressed Powder works great for setting your foundation, or contouring. This pressed powder is very light and doesn’t appear cakey while worn throughout the day. The NYX eyeshadow palettes are sleek, extremely pigmented, and a great quality. This is one of the best products by NYX so far. This eyeliner is very smooth and glides easily onto the eyes. The Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner has a small felt tip brush, and smudge proof formula. This eyeliner is extremely easy to apply and lasts throughout the day. The Loreal Voluminous Mascara is my favorite drugstore mascara for thickening the lashes. Simply apply a few coats of this mascara, and you’re set for the day! These lashes cannot be beat for the price! The NYX Powder blushes come in a wide range of highly pigmented colors, all of which are matte finishes. The Revlon Matte Lipsticks are richly pigmented; they come in a wide variety of colors, all of which are great quality. Marlena’s Picks: “Nude Attitude” and “In the Red” The NYX lip glosses are super pigmented, and creamy without feeling sticky on your lips. No problem, as these brushes are a great substitute for the MAC 219 brush.
Because it takes make-up off the gentle way, so it's ideal for sensitive skin, and in particular those models whose skin is made-up, and then undone, numerous times during the shows. As Lisa Eldridge explains in her blog "For fashion shows when you have to take make-up off very quickly, it's really effective and doesn't ever aggravate the skin." Probably because, as a model, it's been used on her skin at most of her shoots and shows - make-up artists love it for the way it plumps and primes skin. Incredibly soothing and nourishing for any stressed, scaly skin from the neck down. So popular this balm even has its own hashtag, not to mention a cult following in the form of editors, make-up artists and models who love the way this balm - originally developed to soothe sore nipples for breastfeeding mothers - soothes every bit of skin from chapped lips, sore noses and abrasions. Yes it's available in the UK, but its spiritual - and by the way, cheaper - home, is in France. Avène is actually a 'skin hospital' offered on France's equivalent of the NHS for patients suffering from psoriasis, eczema and skin conditions. The Avène Thermal Spring is now infused in a range of sprays, creams and lotions to make up its skincare line, and it's good even if you simply suffer from sensitive skin. It works on all types of skin, and I think it's one of the products that many models use. It's designed with problematic skin in mind, and is the much-loved brand of French derms for quick-fire solutions to skin that's suddenly drying out, breaking out or stressing out.

The truth is the essential products for good skin are usually available at most drugstores, and they certainly won't break the bank." Olay Pro-X Professional Advanced Cleansing System ($29.99, ulta.com ) and Neutrogena Wave Sonic Spinning Power Cleanser ($14.99, target.com ) cost a fraction of the Clarisonic's price, but will still make a difference and leave your skin cleaner than your hand or a washcloth can. Aquaphor Healing Ointment "I have a big jar of it on my nightstand and smaller tubes that I buy for my bag, my desk drawer in the office and my coat pocket. In many ways, Aquaphor ($14.99, walgreens.com ) is the ideal product: It's very inexpensive, and it works really well. Retinol Night Cream or Serum "Retinol is a proven ingredient to reverse sun damage and improve the appearance of fine lines. It is very important to use retinol only at night, because it increases sun sensitivity, and you should never apply a retinol to damp skin, because it will cause irritation. Remember, sun rays coming through a window can also damage the skin. The ingredients to look for are salicylic acid (especially good for acne-prone skin), alpha-hydroxy acids, or glycolic acid (recommended for sensitive skin). Stridex Daily Care Acne Pads ($7.94, walmart.com ) with salicylic acid are good, and so is Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Clear Skin Cream ($14.99, cvs.com ), which contains both salicylic acid and retinol."
The 32 Best New Drugstore Beauty Products You Must Try. We swiped, spritzed, and tested all the new launches to bring you the absolute best new drugstore products you just have to try this year. This cult-favorite beach spray is back from the beauty graveyard, and the soft, smooth, beachy waves it creates are just as awesome as we remember. Ignore the name: This is a classic dry shampoo —and it’s the best-smelling dry shampoo we’ve ever used. Just blend it out with your ring finger for the easiest smoky eyes ever. It lifts and separates for the perfect amount of lash drama. It leaves lips soft and hydrated, and the color lingers like a stain. The whole 18-karat-gold thing could be just a gimmick, but we know this for sure: After wiping the grainy serum on our nails and pushing back our cuticles, our nails looked like they just spent the better part of an hour at the spa. The rich cream leaves skin crazy soft but still smells powdery and clean. You really couldn’t ask for more from a body cream.
You can also do that with blush, which is especially clutch on days when your skin is dry and powder will make you look cakey. And it's got a delightful texture that instantly plumps the skin without leaving any film or residue behind. I was introduced to Hada Labo, this cool Japanese drugstore brand in Tokyo, and now it's launched in the States. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel nail polish seriously lasts and lasts like a gel manicure, but it's easy to remove with normal remover, not the crazy gel stuff, which can be annoying. "I'm a big believer in drugstore mascaras: brands like L'Oréal and Cover Girl have some of the best mascara technology and tend to be first with new innovations. But not this one: it's 99 percent natural and uses cotton extract to help block irritants from getting into your skin. My body skin is sensitive too, and when it gets dry, it itches like crazy. And the spray-factor is genius. It cures dry lips, ragged cuticles, and any kind of dry skin, including sunburns and the lizard-like effect of your Retin-A. "Wandering a drugstore makeup aisle still makes me feel like a kid in a candy store, even now that I'm a beauty editor and have access to all the higher-end products my heart desires. The brand's Falsie mascara has accompanied me from high school through college, and though I've definitely strayed and dabbled with others, it will always have a soft spot in my heart for its one-swipe volume and definition. It smells nice (not too over-powering), and I put it on as the last step in my shower routine. (Plus, if your skin is really dry, you can always a apply a body lotion on top to double the hydration benefits.) This drugstore skin cream rivals the effects of some of the most expensive creams I've tried, and at a much cheaper price. It's made with amino-peptides and marine proteins to nourish and help you wake up with princess-worthy skin.

After many years of trial and error, I've accumulated drugstore beauty products that work perfectly for us brown girls . This collection has plenty of shades for dark-skinned women available at the drugstore. With my summer tan and budget in hand, I found the All Day Flawless Foundation from the Covergirl Queen Collection. First off, I'm a girl that likes great packaging, so this foundation was a winner for me; a pump and a cap? Tip: To find your correct foundation color at the drugstore, bring your usual foundation with you and get color matched at the counter. Also from the Cover Girl Queen Collection, (thank you Queen Latifah!), the Natural Hue Bronzer in Ebony (120) has been a staple in my makeup kit for years. I haven't heard of many other companies making bronzer for deep skin tones, and the only other in the drugstore is by IMAN Cosmetics . This primer from Neutrogena keeps my oily skin at bay for at least eight hours, and keeps my makeup in flawless condition. I used the Bobbi Brown liner for years, and it was the first gel liner I'd ever tried. This liner has the exact same consistency as the Bobbi Brown formula, and it's as black and matte as you'll get out of a gel eyeliner. It also lasts all day and night - you definitely need to double cleanse if you want to get this off - and with the right brush, you can easily create a cat-eye .
