If you start out with a chalky, cakey or oily foundation, the rest of your look will likely crumble. But, just because you’re searching for the best foundation doesn’t mean you have to pay a hefty price. For girls with dry skin, using a liquid foundation may be the best way to go, hydrating as it covers. Most drugstores will allow you to return a just-opened foundation with the original packaging and receipt, even if you’ve used it. If you have to buy the foundation to try it at home, you can always return it if it’s the wrong color. Another trick for finding the best drugstore foundation for you? Whether you’ve got oily skin , you’re looking for your perfect color match or you need some SPF in your makeup (because everyone should be), we found a drugstore foundation that’ll be perfect for you, above.

So, that said, what should you save on and what should you shell out a little cash for? "A daily moisturizer is really only there to form a barrier between your skin and the outside world," Joanna Vargas , celebrity facialist and founder of her eponymous salon, says. SAVE on cleanser: If you have normal skin with zero issues and you don't need your wash to have special skills, then you can save on your cleanser. "But, if you have trickier skin that breaks out easily or gets irritated, it's a good idea to invest in a formula that has ingredients that will benefit your specific skin type," Vargas says. If you splurge on a serum, your skin will be able to absorb so many good nutrients that will show the best result. "I even added chlorophyll and wheatgrass into the Daily Serum in my line because these two ingredients help to oxygenate the skin, making you look more youthful," she says. SPLURGE on anti-aging creams: If serums aren't your thing and you want to wear a cream to bed, Colbert says to splurge. "You'll want to look for a formula that contains vitamins E and C (they'll hydrate and brighten skin), a silk peptide (which helps build collagen), a retinoid (that helps regulate the exfoliation process so your pores and skin stays clear), or Qusome technology," he says. But, if you want to get a deeper exfoliation, you're going to need a product with heavy hitting chemical exfoliants that will penetrate into your skin and dissolve any oil build-up that's deep in your pores. Colbert suggests looking for exfoliators that contain glycolic or lactic acid to keep your pores and skin clear. She also suggests looking for a mask with arnica, which is anti-inflammatory, and yogurt to calm the skin. "Wrinkles are brought on by cell mutations and cells mutate from the sun and pollution, so if you can prevent your cells from mutating by feeding it the right vitamins, you won't get lines," Vargas says.
They have it for sensitive skin too. I actually find I can cut the cloths into quarters and still have plenty to clean my face really well. I do take some uncut ones along as well – they are great for your whole body in the shower. They’re especially awesome for travel, as they are 3-1-1 friendly, and you can ever stash a few in your pocket to clean yourself up in the airport, a campground, etc… Here’s the link to a post I did reviewing the Olay cloths and some other TSA friendly, dry toiletries. You can get it all over the US and Asia (not sure about Europe or South America.) It is also great for your hair. I use the Olay facial moisturizer with SPF 15 …been using it for probably 6 years now and I love it. The Olay total effects gentle moisturiser with SPF 15 is wonderful for anyone with dry and sensitive skin. I always stock up on it when I’m in Asia as its 1/3 of the price compared to Australia (and the Aussie stock is from Indonesia anyway!) Been using it for many years now ~ Sarah Irwin. Thank you for the recommendations!
The Physicians Formula Magic Mosaic Pressed Powder works great for setting your foundation, or contouring. This pressed powder is very light and doesn’t appear cakey while worn throughout the day. The NYX eyeshadow palettes are sleek, extremely pigmented, and a great quality. This is one of the best products by NYX so far. This eyeliner is very smooth and glides easily onto the eyes. The Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner has a small felt tip brush, and smudge proof formula. This eyeliner is extremely easy to apply and lasts throughout the day. The Loreal Voluminous Mascara is my favorite drugstore mascara for thickening the lashes. Simply apply a few coats of this mascara, and you’re set for the day! These lashes cannot be beat for the price! The NYX Powder blushes come in a wide range of highly pigmented colors, all of which are matte finishes. The Revlon Matte Lipsticks are richly pigmented; they come in a wide variety of colors, all of which are great quality. Marlena’s Picks: “Nude Attitude” and “In the Red” The NYX lip glosses are super pigmented, and creamy without feeling sticky on your lips. No problem, as these brushes are a great substitute for the MAC 219 brush.
These 14 winners and 12 honorable mentions are proven to outperform the rest. Best Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15+: The Winner. And the winner is. It rated highest overall with consumers and was also the most moisturizing. Testers also gave Chanel the top score for firming, softening, smoothing, and adding radiance to their complexions. Olay — the most affordable of the top three — shared the highest lab score with Chanel for moisturizing and with Arden for minimizing age spots. Best Night Cream: The Winners. The contenders: Creams and lotions created to keep skin moisturized and boost its overnight-repair function. And the winners are. Dermatology Intensive 3-in-1 Eye Cream ($32.50, amazon.com or Bath and Body Works) tied for highest consumer score overall and finished just behind Olay in the lab. Consumers liked that it firmed the eye area well and did not irritate delicate skin. Best Eye Cream: The Winner. Consumers noted that the cream reduced their crow's-feet, puffiness, and undereye bags.

The two products are Elysian Moisturizer and Elysian Revitalizer . It was one of the few products on the market that had Vitamin C in the right consistency and dosage. The only two we found during our research was Elysian Moisturizer and Elysian Revitalizer. "After the first day of using Elysian Moisturizer and Elysian Revitalizer together, I was surprised at how wonderful they both made my skin feel. We shopped in Superdrug and Primark for all these goodies with the prices ranging from 0.99p up to a maximum of £9.99. We played with a few different brands and thought we would share the hero and the zero products from each brand. The flutter Curl mascara (£4.95) was so dry and flaked off on application. They are the perfect texture, neither too dry or too wet and if you use a thin liner brush you can achieve a nice line that dries very quickly and lasts the day. The eyeshadows are absolutely amazing quality for the price. These blended well, colour payoff was excellent and they lasted well on the skin. The brighter colours are vibrant and if you like a really pale nude lip that almost represents a concealed lip look then you would love the paler shades. The tinted moisturiser (£9.99) felt light, creamy and gave a radiance to the skin. The cheek and lip tint (£6.50) is split into two colours of nude beige and soft coral. It disturbs the make up underneath when you blend it in and never really dries so it constantly feels tacky. The colour payoff is very sheer also so you can't really distinguish between the two different colours. Nice and moisturising for the lips though. Our overall conclusion is that there are some really great little gems from drugstore brands but you absolutely must test them before you buy to rule out the not so great products. It's really awesome that it's possible to buy a lipgloss for £1.00 but I do wonder of the quality of ingredients put into these products for companies to be able to produce and sell them so cheaply.

After many years of trial and error, I've accumulated drugstore beauty products that work perfectly for us brown girls . This collection has plenty of shades for dark-skinned women available at the drugstore. With my summer tan and budget in hand, I found the All Day Flawless Foundation from the Covergirl Queen Collection. First off, I'm a girl that likes great packaging, so this foundation was a winner for me; a pump and a cap? Tip: To find your correct foundation color at the drugstore, bring your usual foundation with you and get color matched at the counter. Also from the Cover Girl Queen Collection, (thank you Queen Latifah!), the Natural Hue Bronzer in Ebony (120) has been a staple in my makeup kit for years. I haven't heard of many other companies making bronzer for deep skin tones, and the only other in the drugstore is by IMAN Cosmetics . This primer from Neutrogena keeps my oily skin at bay for at least eight hours, and keeps my makeup in flawless condition. I used the Bobbi Brown liner for years, and it was the first gel liner I'd ever tried. This liner has the exact same consistency as the Bobbi Brown formula, and it's as black and matte as you'll get out of a gel eyeliner. It also lasts all day and night - you definitely need to double cleanse if you want to get this off - and with the right brush, you can easily create a cat-eye .
The truth is the essential products for good skin are usually available at most drugstores, and they certainly won't break the bank." Olay Pro-X Professional Advanced Cleansing System ($29.99, ulta.com ) and Neutrogena Wave Sonic Spinning Power Cleanser ($14.99, target.com ) cost a fraction of the Clarisonic's price, but will still make a difference and leave your skin cleaner than your hand or a washcloth can. Aquaphor Healing Ointment "I have a big jar of it on my nightstand and smaller tubes that I buy for my bag, my desk drawer in the office and my coat pocket. In many ways, Aquaphor ($14.99, walgreens.com ) is the ideal product: It's very inexpensive, and it works really well. Retinol Night Cream or Serum "Retinol is a proven ingredient to reverse sun damage and improve the appearance of fine lines. It is very important to use retinol only at night, because it increases sun sensitivity, and you should never apply a retinol to damp skin, because it will cause irritation. Remember, sun rays coming through a window can also damage the skin. The ingredients to look for are salicylic acid (especially good for acne-prone skin), alpha-hydroxy acids, or glycolic acid (recommended for sensitive skin). Stridex Daily Care Acne Pads ($7.94, walmart.com ) with salicylic acid are good, and so is Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Clear Skin Cream ($14.99, cvs.com ), which contains both salicylic acid and retinol."
