Korean Skincare Tips From Peach and Lily's Alicia Yoon

There's a lot of information out there on Korean skincare (and the multi-step routines it inspires ), but that doesn't mean there aren't more questions to answer. Broadly speaking, the steps that all the Korean women we interviewed all included were an oil-based cleanser, a moisturizer, and a SPF-product. The Korean beauty philosophy emphasizes personalization—developing a routine that fits your skincare needs, whether that's four steps or 15 steps, and a regimen that fits your lifestyle. I think the other part of it is that the Korean approach—respecting the skin and improving it from the inside out through innovating products—resonates with people. And then, of course, the products speak for themselves. How are the beauty products coming out of Korea actually different than what we see in the US or Europe? There are a lot of ingredients that are well-loved by Koreans that aren’t as common Stateside and discovering that is probably the best part of all the beauty-hunting that we do. When it comes to skincare, the products are great for all ethnicities. Many Korean beauty products are labeled as “whitening,” but the formulation typically is focused on combatting hyperpigmentation and/or boosting radiance and not bleaching skin. Interview : Korean Beauty and Skincare Trends with Alice of

I asked Alice all kinds of questions about what’s trending in Korea, what her personal must-have products are, and what trends are on the way out. For the story – one day, I went to a cosmetic shop to buy the foundation again and the shop assistant asked me which skincare products I use. – Leaders AC Stop Foam Cleansing for the days I have some troubles on my skin. – The Face Shop’, Innisfree, Etude House mask pack series. I love Laneige’s skincare products, especially the Water Bank line. Innisfree recently launched a new line of skincare products: The Balhyo line. And Laneige’s eyeshadow are always amazing, and top of the list. This is a kind of history of Korean Skincare Trends and the hit items: As of now, I can see that the Syn-ake products are not so popular and the honey line is not that special, so it’s declining. For the other trends, I still see people using and buying them. For the moment, I have no other project than improving the shop and offering better services and experiences to my customers. I still have so many brands to put into the shop (and that’s so much work and especially time consuming ^.^) . I now order from this shop regularly, and the service has been great. All products are fresh from the manufacturer, and there are plenty of samples included. more...

My Updated Korean Skincare Routine - The Wanderlust Project

This one is focused on my nighttime skincare routine, using all Korean skincare products, and following the typical Korean skincare routine. It’s wintertime now, so my skincare routine is focused on getting the most amount of moisture into my skin as possible. I use one pump and massage it into my slightly damp skin. I use this one when I feel like my skin is extra dry or dull, as it’s a very moisturizing toner. If it’s around that time of the month, or I feel like my skin might be having some issues, I use the AC Care Water Essence, which I reviewed here . Before Winter really hit, I was using the AC Care Bee’s Cure Serum and the Repair Complex as my serum and emulsion, but I found that my skin didn’t feel moisturized enough (winter is rough), so I switched to the Missha Super Aqua Marine Cell Intensive Serum and Control Emulsion. I pump the serum into my hands, rub them together and gently pat it on my face. My nighttime routine is when I pile on the moisture, so that’s why I use both a cream and sometimes a sleeping pack. I use the Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Cream, which was totally an impulse buy after the sales woman tested a bit on my hand and I sort of melted. It’s perfect for people with dry skin, or for people who want a little moisture boost in the winter. I like this cream so much I actually use it in the daytime too. After applying my cream, I will sometimes opt to add just that extra layer of moisture and use my Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Deep Moisture Sleeping Pack. And I know some people may think that my skin must look like an oil spill by the time I go to bed, but nope. That’s the beauty of Korean products, they all seem to magically absorb into my skin, instead of just sitting on top of it. more...

South Korea – The New Skin Care PowerHouse - Best Men's

Independent skin care product reviews and tips. South Korea – The New Skin Care Power House. In the 1990’s, France was unanimously considered the skin care Super Power. The newest and best beauty products came from France and everyone wanted to look like the sexy French women. Now in the skincare world especially women’s luxury skin care, South Korea is now the new France. This is clearly seen in the super advanced technology (such as their skin care lasers and photo facials) used in South Korea for purposes of self-beautification. And to this day, this continued demand for skin whitening has spurred the growth of technological beauty innovation in the country from their high tech beauty skin lasers to their pioneering the use of stem cells in women’s luxury anti-aging skin care products. How much are South Korean women obsessed with skin care? The average Korean woman uses around 18 different skin care products each day. New Splash Masks Korean Skin Care - Marie Claire

Basically, these splash masks are unlike any mask you've tried before, mainly because they come in liquid form and take all of 15 to 30 seconds to use (meaning that I could have been on time to those parties). The masks are a blend of botanical extracts and lactic acid, which helps to re-texturize your skin. To use this mask, you mix about a capful of the stuff with a bowl of water, and then splash (as the name suggests) the mixture on your face for under half a minute, rinse, and boom—you're done. If you are mess-prone or just really not into adding extra dirty dishes to the ever-growing pile in your sink, you can also take the mask into your shower, pour a capful of product into your palms, and pat onto your face for 20 seconds or so. The video below shows just how to use the mask, with music, graphics, and all. Results included soft, radiant, and glow-y skin, and the masks have been selling out at glowrecipe.com . Top 10 Best Korean Cult / Must Have Skincare Products

Again, this is what seems to be the most popular Korean skincare products in my own personal opinion. It does remove makeup residue, oil and dirt from my skin, but this didn't change the appearance of my skin. Since it's not super moisturizing, I usually only use this during the spring and summer, not really during the winter when my skin is more dry. This is something I use twice a day and love. It's nice and light, absorbs right into the skin, and really preps the skin for your skincare routine. It makes your skin look nice and plump and really softens the skin. This is the ultimate clay mask for me! I know a lot of people love and enjoy this product, and it's definitely a cult-fave! However, I know this is really popular in the Korean skincare world and people have compared it to the ultra-famous Bioderma. It really makes my skin feels smooth and I love that you can dilute the sugar to your liking. I love Skin Food in general, but this stuff is awesome! And yes, I am working on the Makeup version of this, however, it's much more difficult for me to narrow down! more...

11 New Skin Care Ingredients for 2015 : Which I’m Choosing

Same with skin care: I used to wait for an ingredient to get some traction, keep looking at the studies periodically for updates, and then make a decision. So here are my picks for the best (and worst) new skin care ingredients of 2015: Fulvic acid is the main ingredient in the  Fulom Skin Care line  ($22-31,  Fulomskin.com ). This reasonably-priced line contains the highest concentrations of fulvic acid I have seen in a skin care line, and it comes in generously-sized packages. This makes the ingredient last in the formulation and perform in your skin all the longer. The skin looks retexturized, hydrated, and smooth. Best Korean Beauty Products - 6 Amazing Skin Care Products

These badass gel-like blemish stickers keep you from picking at/popping your pimples and contain salicylic acid that helps break down dead skin and unplug clogged pores. To apply, peel the sticker from the backing sheet and pop it over your pimple before you go to sleep. First, you apply the blackhead/whitehead removal mask over clean skin, making sure it lays snug against your nose. During this step, the dead skin is broken down, which loosens the blackhead so it may be removed. OK, try not to get grossed out here, but snail mucus (the shiny slime that a snail leaves behind as it's going on its merry way) is actually super-hydrating to your skin: It promotes cellular turnover, it's healing, and it protects your skin's barrier from environmental elements like pollution, which is proven to break down collagen and elastin prematurely. "Putting this snail secretion-containing mask on your face will give you the results of going to a spa, but only in a matter of 15 minutes," Schook says. "Not only are you getting the hydration benefits from the snail mucus infused in the mask, there are other skin-plumping ingredients like glycerin, sea water, aloe extract, etc., that are being pushed deeper into your skin because a gel-like mask sits [and] sticks better onto the skin than a cloth mask." This heroic mask also contains ingredients like rosemary, which has antibacterial properties that help fight free radical damage (this can lead to premature aging and cell mutation, which can lead to skin cancer); melissa officinalis leaf extract, which is good for calming and brightening the skin; and hexapeptides that help build collagen. "This mask is fool-proof," Schook says, "because it won't dry out your skin if you leave it on too long, whereas cloth masks, once they deliver their ingredients and transfer the moisture onto your skin, can actually suck your own skin's moisture back out of your skin if left on too long, which is why you really have to stick to the time period that the packaging notates." This mask also contains shea butter, vitamin E, snail secretion, aloe, and beta-glucan, which is a yeast that dissolves dead skin cells. What's more, there isn't any water or fillers in this blend, which can breed bacteria over time; instead, glycerin is added to further hydrate the skin. more...
