Dos and don’ts for acne - prone skin

Dos and don’ts for acne-prone skin. Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when skin pores become clogged and bacteria settles in, causing the pore to become infected. Several factors can contribute to developing acne such as oily skin, hormones, diet, skin care products and even your skin care routine. The good news is that acne is treatable and often can be controlled or even prevented with the right skin care treatment plan. Fields and Rodan explain that acne occurs when dead skin cells combine with the skin's natural oil, clumps together inside the pore and creates an ideal environment for bacteria to flourish. The good news is that, with the right combination of medicines, those with acne can enjoy skin that's as clear and healthy-looking as someone who had no acne at all. The secret is finding the right combination of medicines and skin care treatments that work for you." Caring for acne-prone skin can be tricky until you find the right combination or skin care products that work best for you. Not everyone who has acne has oily skin, and many acne skin care products can be harsh. Tanning can be damaging to your skin if you are acne-prone and are using either prescription topical cleansers or over-the-counter acne treatments. more...

Skin Care Routine for Sensitive, Oily, Acne - Prone Skin

Skin Care Routine for Sensitive, Oily, Acne-Prone Skin. I use this product 2x a day (morning and night).  This toner is gentler on my skin (but I don’t get that “deep clean” feeling that I love.) This toner is great for sensitive skin, or if your skin is sunburned. This goes back to the whole stripping your skin problem I’ve been talking about. I’ve recently been using this moisturizer, and I love it! If this moisturizer isn’t for you, I would go with Cetaphil’s oily skin daily moisturizer . This product in combination with the Aczone made a huge difference in my skin. This does cause your skin to peel. This product is probably the #1 contributor in my skin clearing up. This is great for oily skin, but must be used with caution. If your skin isn’t oily, I would use the brush less. more...

Skin Care and A Routine

If you have to touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water - or alternatively, use a face towel. Determine your skin type and buy skin care products to suit your skin type. This is an incredibly important step because if you buy products that aren't appropriate for your skin, they will be incredibly ineffective, and may worsen the situation. Dry Skin-If your skin feels very tight and is noticeably flaky in areas, then you have dry skin. If your face is visibly shiny, and literally feels slightly wet to the touch then you have oily skin. If you have oily skin, you should tone, exfoliate, use a spot treatment, and lightly moisturize once in a while. If you have combination skin, you tend to get oily around your nose, chin, and forehead area, and dry around your cheeks. If you have sensitive skin, use a moisturizer, cleanser, and spot treatment all suitable for sensitive skin. Apply the cleanser and massage it into your skin in upwards, circular motions. By restoring your skin to its natural p H, you also make it more resistant against bacteria and micro-organisms. So after cleansing and toning you should moisturize with a face moisturizer for your skin type. If you haven't applied enough moisturizer and your skin still feels a little tight, then apply a bit more. Your skin needs to get used to the frequency of being treated, and to the products you're using. more...

How to Create the Perfect Acne Skin Care Routine

You can create an acne skin care routine with whatever brand products you choose. A good acne skin care routine is so important for blemish-prone skin. But your daily acne skin care routine doesn't need to take a lot of time - just a few minutes twice a day. Follow the guidelines below to help keep your skin feeling refreshed and clean. Make sure you're using the right cleanser for your skin. Harsh soaps won't clear your acne, but they will irritate your skin. Alcohol-free products are the best choices if your skin is irritated by acne treatments or if you have lots of open pimples. But if toners or astringents seem to over-dry or irritate your skin, don’t use them. Ditto if you're using prescription acne medications (they already dry out your skin). You aren't going to harm your skin by not using a toner . Step 3: Apply your acne treatment medications. Many acne medications over-dry the skin, leaving the skin thirsty for moisture. Now that you've got your daily skin care routine down, let's get you an effective acne treatment plan to go along with it. more...

My Skin Care Regimen for Acne - prone, Oily, Sensitive Skin

After years of being a hamster, trying different products and methods that will work for my skin type, I'm here to share with you some of what I've learned and discovered - my skin care regimen for acne-prone, oily, sensitive skin. I have very oily, sensitive and acne-prone skin. My face is also sensitive that I really have to be careful with the products that I use that's why I read the ingredients label of the products that I use not just for my skin but for my hair too. These cause premature aging and can clog pores, can instantly give more acne especially if we have the same skin type! Most shampoos contain this and could really irritate the skin (if you're getting body acne especially on your back and shoulders, this might be the culprit) The typical skin care regimen is cleanse, tone and moisturize but what about for people with acne-prone, oily and sensitive skin? Before the next step, make sure your skin is already dry and make sure your face towel is clean. What I also love about this toner is that it contains not only tomato extract, but also chamomile, lavender and rosemary that are perfect for treating inflamed acne. 5-10 minutes after toning (enough time for the toner to be absorbed by the skin), this is where Dan's regimen highlight comes in - 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. This is the time you give your skin to absorb the benzoyl peroxide. I hope this skin regimen works for me for a very long time. I am still wishing that this skin care regimen works for me for a very long time. more...

This routine included: Wash with Cetaphil Cleanser for All Skin Types, exfoliating with a white (bleached) cotton washcloth, and drying with a white (bleached) cotton towel. However, experimenting with layering products now has my skin looking beautiful and amazingly clear, again. more...

Scrubbing seems like the perfect way to cleanse and purify, but for most acne-prone skin, anything more than a teensy bit of exfoliation is way too much. Use fingertips to massage skin gently (a little blood flow is good, but don’t go crazy) and avoid abrasive ingredients like beads altogether. It targets acne by sloughing away dead skin cells that clog pores and lead to breakouts. The last thing acne-prone skin needs is added dirt and bacteria from roving hands. And fight the urge to pick or pop pimples: Squeezing skin not only causes irritation and aggravates breakouts, but it also comes with the risk of scarring. The jury is out whether there is a definitive link between dairy and acne, but many skin care experts agree that the components in milk related to testosterone hormones may stimulate oil glands, creating a breeding ground for acne. Try cutting out dairy for 2 weeks to see how your skin reacts. So, these products are an ace in the hole for acne-prone skin, right? Most product I've tried in the past have dried out my skin and only caused me to breakout even more. I have been using this regimen for just over 3 months now and it has done wonders for my skin! I have been using this for about a month now and I have to say this is a holy grail skin care routine! Let me just say that I have struggled with acne and just overall UGLY SKIN for years! Really love the kit and the shipping was fast too :) I have oily, combination and sensitive skin. I am a 21 year old male and I have searched high and low for skin care to keep my acne at a minimal, this is by far the BEST thing I have found. I have very sensitive skin and this stuff works wonders. I've used a gazillion products in the past and nothing has worked as well as this. I still get the occasional blemish here and there, but i have never been happier with my skin! I have oily sensitive skin and the Mia made my skin breakout horribly. My Skin Care Routine – Oily, Acne Prone, Sensitive Skin

All of us have different skin and hair types, so hope these posts are helpful to you. Cleansers:  Starting with cleansers, I have found the perfect cleanser for my skin type in Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion for sensitive skin. Recently, I stumbled upon Olay 7-in-1 Foaming Face Wash and it’s the best that I have used – cleans without drying out the face! However, I will tell you about stuff that works for oily and acne-prone skin – Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum, Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus , Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil (Neetu gifted this to me :*), and SK-II Whitening Spot Specialist (it does not whiten the skin, but brightens up a bit, but is a  very good facial serum).  I have also this red sandalwood billet which helps clear up acne marks and add a glow to the skin. MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser  is another favorite of mine, it has no alcohol content and does not dry out the skin. For the lips:  I have one of the best healing lip balms out there – Amilab lip balm – it’s a soothing, moisturizing, and repairing lip balm. I tried using it as a primer, but the glycerin content in the balm greases up my oily skin; however, if you have dry or normal skin, you could try! Toners: I am not happy with toners (again because of glycerin content in most toners), but when I have to use toners, these are the ones that I have currently with me –  L’Occitane Angelica Face Toner and L’Occitane’s Brightening Mi st. That’s it, my simple skin care routine, I have a bevy of anti-acne ointments, but that should be strictly taken under the advice of a dermatologist, so skipping that section. Though I don’t have oily skin, I can still use few for my oily T zone I guess. I was waiting for this post as I also have the similar oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin. Right now I am religiously using the Clinique 3 step guide with the face wash, toner and DDMgel meant for type 3 skin. I also use cetaphil cleansing lotion for sensitive skin, Biotique pistachio face pack, Lacto calamine oil control and aloe vera gel from the plant. I am trying to get rakthachandanam as I have heard about its benefits for oily skin. more...
