Best products for Cystic Acne? I come before you with hope that someone will have a suggestion as to what over the counter treatment may work well for cystic acne? I have seen a dermatologist for this, and they prescribed Retin-A as treatment. To get that prescription was like pulling teeth from the dermatologist, because she flat out told me that I should just go on birth control and that will solve all of my cystic acne issues. I understand the fact that nothing is truly going to rid me of my cystic acne, but I would be so happy to find a product that would at least shrink the ones I have a little faster, that way they aren't as painful for so long. As for spot treatment, I have PTR Acne Spot Treatment.
OK, now that we've defined the difference between a post-breakout discoloration and an acne scar, let's talk about the solutions for each! There are skin-lightening treatments that contain hydroquinone to slow down excess melanin (which is responsible for giving color to hair, skin, and eyes) production, which reduces the appearance of sun-damaged areas of skin (i.e., brownish discolorations), but those don't work on pink to red acne marks. The one exception is for those with darker skin tones where post-acne marks are brownish in color from the skin's pigment, melanin. At-home treatments for post-acne marks, such as rubbing lemon juice or other citrus fruits on your face, don't work—they can't exfoliate skin properly and their acidic juices are potent skin irritants that can prolong the healing process. Two targeted Paula's Choice products to consider are Resist Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator and the super-charged yet super-light Resist 1% Retinol Booster , which can be used on its own or mixed with your moisturizer or serum. A product like this can be layered over your other skincare and is fine to use at the same time as retinol, niacinamide, or applied over AHA or BHA exfoliants. Medical Treatments for Post-Acne Marks and Acne Scars. So, if you're desperate, have an imminent social event, and need the discolorations gone sooner than a skincare routine can accomplish, IPL treatments may be your solution (for those with darker skin tones, speak with your dermatologist about alternative options, as IPL has a risk of complications on dark complexions).[1, 2] If you have red to brown marks and indented acne scars, your dermatologist may suggest a TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel, which can be more potent and potentially more effective than AHA or BHA peels alone.[1, 2] And don't be surprised if your dermatologist suggests more than one treatment, as some types of indented acne scars require this in order to provide you with the best possible result. With Paula’s Choice Skincare, you can get (and keep) the best skin of your life!

The Japanese konjac sponge is one of my personal favorite beauty care secrets! The Japanese Konjac Sponge is a 100% natural facial and body cleansing sponge made from vegetable fibers of Konjac (Konnyaku). The Konjac Sponge has been used in Japan first as a bath sponge for newborn babies for more than 100 years because of its soft texture. Recently, the Konjac Sponge is sold as an cleansing item intended for luxury Japanese cosmetic and the Konjac Sponge's popularity has been on the rise as facial cleansing and bath sponge in China, South East Asia and Europe. This 100% natural sponge has a soft texture making it gentle, safe and will not scratch skin while washing away dirt and oil from skin. This water layer on the sponge's surface constantly acts as a buffer to the skin and the layer forms a barrier between the sponge and the skin. As a result, the skin is never in direct contact with the fiber and it will not scratch and damage the skin even with hard scrubbing. Ingredients of the Japanese Konjac Sponge. The Japanese Konjac Sponge uses konjac roots and ingredients that are 100% produced locally in Gunma, Japan. Also the following ingredients in acne skincare which are drying and will pull oil out from underneath the surface of the skin and have a lightening effect: I would look for a natural or organic body butter with ingredients that hydrate and repair skin damage. These ingredients will have the biggest effect on your damaged or scarred skin.

Fortunately there are treatment options for cystic acne. When deciding on a course of treatment, it is helpful to know which of the cystic acne causes is the most likely. How To Prevent And Get Rid Of Acne Scars For Good. Pimples are seriously the skin problem from hell. The discolored mark is blatant proof that you had a pimple, and it was not fun. We spoke to two New York City-based dermatologists who gave us the rundown on everything you should know about acne scars, including how to prevent them and what to do to get rid of them for good. "They are mostly cystic lesions that feel painful underneath the skin and they don't really connect with the surface easily," said Dr. Cystic pimples are inflammatory acne which involves more white blood cells rushing to the area and because there are more enzymes in that area, it leads to more destruction. Atrophic scars appear as indentations in the skin. "A true acne scar is when your body takes that healing process one step further and is not able to actually form the collagen the normal way. All the enzymes that are in the area of the acne lesion eat away at things like collagen and elastin," explained Dr. Mac Gregor believes it's important to take the time to go into a doctor's office and get prescribed the best and safest products for your skin type. Bowe suggests using an at-home product with glycolic or salicylic acid to exfoliate the skin and help bring those dark skin cells to the surface. Or you can go to a dermatologist and get a glycolic acid peel to lighten up the dark spots. Both doctors recommend the use of retinoid skin products for both kinds of acne marks. These creams brighten and heal the skin. Mac Gregor couldn't stress enough the important role sunscreen plays in reducing marks and scars.

Acne Marks and Scars – What causes them and how to prevent them. Acne marks are a baffling skin condition that you have to understand to combat. Acne marks are a result of damaged or lost skin tissue, active acne, and trauma left behind from acne. Your skin consists of pigments producing cells that are under the surface of your skin. In the same way you receive a tan for your hard work in the sun, a pimple can leave behind ugly acne marks or scars. Regardless of what caused your acne and acne marks, you have the power to control these inconvenient pests. I know you are tempted to pick and squeeze the bumps when they pop up but DON’T! Pesky pimple picking can cause bacteria to spread to other areas of your skin, making the problem worse and prolonging the healing time. Rolling scars occur when fibrous bands of tissue develop between the skin and the subcutaneous tissue below. These scars can be treated by professional grade skincare products used to help shrink and flatten the scar. Icepick Scars: These deep ugly scars are extremely narrow and extend deep into your skins dermis. These scars are wider than ice pick scars and give the skin a punctured or pitted appearance. The skin over this area is left without support, and a depressed area is created. There are thousands of products on the market that claim to be effective in controlling or eliminating Acne and breakouts. Salicylic acid is very effective for controlling mild Acne and breakouts as it is oil soluble and therefore able to penetrate the sebaceous glands and help dissolve the mixtures of oil and dead skin cells that block the pores. Benzyl peroxide is also a very commonly used medication for Acne and breakouts. All the best known advertised Acne treatments are benzyl peroxide based and it can also be found in combination with some prescription Acne medications. It is less effective for moderate and severe breakouts and it can be very drying for the skin, particularly in higher concentrations. In my opinion, topical antibiotics are the least effective Acne treatments on the market. Topical retinoids ( tretinoin ) are the most effective skincare products for breakout prone skin. It treats all parts of the Acne cycle and is also helpful for treating Acne scarring.
