Cleansing will remove dirt, oil and bacteria from your skin that may cause breakouts. It will also stimulate the blood circulation in your face, rejuvenating your skin to a healthy glow. Use a skin cleanser suited for your skin type. But it's actually a very important step because it balances the p H of your skin and preps it for moisturizing. Look for toners without alcohol, which can severely dry your skin. After applying toner, do not dry your skin with a towel before applying moisturizer - just let your skin breathe and air-dry. Again, be sure to pick a product suited for your skin type. After moisturizing, use a light foundation with SPF 15 or above to even out your skin tone and keep your skin protected. Powder foundations contain less oil and will leave your skin with a beautiful matte finish. These all-natural cosmetics are very good for your skin and do not contain chemicals, dyes or fragrances - which can cause irritation and allergies. Believe it or not, treating your skin right in the morning is also about your diet! Get Healthy, Glowing Skin : An Ayurvedic Skincare Routine

Try this two-pronged approach to ayurvedic beauty: an external routine and an internal routine that will give you healthy, glowing skin. The following skincare routine was designed by ayurvedic experts Pratima Raichur (an ayurvedic consultant and the author of Absolute Beauty) and Melanie Sachs (the author of Ayurvedic Beauty Care). Make an ubtan by mixing equal parts chickpea flour (a gentle natural exfoliant) and dry milk powder (which is nourishing for the skin) in a jar. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons into the palm of your hand, add water to make a thin paste, and scrub lightly over wet skin in the shower. For an introductory practice, Raichur recommends the following: Pour some oil on your palm and massage your scalp, the tops and bottoms of your feet, and the rest of your body, including your abdomen and spine. So this self-massage ritual is essentially spreading love and nourishment to all of the tissues in your body, as well as to your mind and senses.” The same principles—cleanse, nourish, and moisturize—apply to facial care. Put some plain water or rose water in a spray bottle and spritz the face a few times to moisten the skin. Ayurvedic beauty experts agree: To cultivate glowing skin and a sense of inner balance, design a dinacharya (daily routine) with the following health-boosting activities. It helps circulate the lymph and blood, tones the muscles, and helps you connect with your breath—three actions that improve your beauty on subtle but important levels. Raichur notes, “Respiratory changes affect the skin and body as well as our moods: shallow breathing pales the complexion, for example; heavy breathing makes it flush. more...

As with retinoids, many of the most common blemish-busters can dry out your skin even further, so be cautious when addressing breakouts. When it seems like no amount of face cream is working, try Mariwalla's quick trick for hydrating parched skin: Run the water in your bathroom sink as hot as it will go, then bend over the sink and cover your head with a towel so that the steam hits your skin. "The steam leaves a layer of moisture on your skin and the ointment locks it in," she explains. "Plus, steaming your skin also ensures the product won't sting when you apply it, a common complaint for many people whose skin is extremely dry and chapped." That means heavy-duty creams and balms are your best bet, especially those that contain occlusive ingredients, like dimethicone, that seal moisture into the skin, and/or hydrating glycerin, says Zeichner. By using it every day, you're preventing the build-up of dry skin." For an added dose of hydration, she suggests using the brush with a creamy, non-soap cleanser. Antioxidants are well-known in the skincare world for their preventative benefits, helping to thwart free-radical damage caused by sun and pollution, but they're also effective at improving skin tone, Zeichner points out. The latter is especially ideal for dry skin: "Vitamin E is a heavier and richer antioxidant that can also help hydrate skin," he adds. more...

What is a good skin care routine

What is a good skin care routine? Wash your face with water in the morning and then apply Vitamin C or E. Leave that to dry for a few minutes and apply your moisturizer with sunscreen. An alpha hydroxy acid cleanser is best because it cleans it well and will exfoliate your skin. Use the cleanser and massage it into your skin in circular motions. Rinse skin with cold water to close pores and prevent dirt from getting into them. How frequently you exfoliate depends on age, skin conditions, and the type of exfoliant used. You may also use a mild soap, rinse with warm water, and pat dry. Do not use bar-shaped cleansers that are made from detergents rather than soaps. They are made from chemicals that are usually much more irritating to the skin than soap. Sometimes color and fragrance is added to the soap to make it more appealing to the user. Ideally the scents in soaps should come only from the essential oils since the fragrance and color add nothing to the actual cleansing process and serve only to increase the potential for irritation and allergic reactions. Use upward strokes on your neck and forehead, and outward strokes or your cheeks, the area around your eyes, and between your brows. Step 3:  Apply either a foundation with a sunscreen, or a sunscreen product specifically made for facial skin. If you are prone to acne, look for products that say non-comedogenic or non-acnegenic on the label. If areas of your skin tend to be especially dry, use creams rather than lotions since these are more moisturizing. more...

Daily Skincare Routine - Beauty In My Mind : Beauty Blog UK

Today however is the day, and it’s just really to share with you my current daily skin care routine and the products I’ve been using! First things first I cleanse my face, morning and night is the general rule (I think that applies to just about everyone though?) In the morning I’ve been using the Laboratoires Filorga Mousse Démaquillante foam cleanser which I received in the amazing goody bag from the BBloggersxmas event! For night time cleansing I always use the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm. Admittedly I have been lazy at times and may have skipped this once or twice in the morning, but I’m trying to be good and apply it day and night! I find it best applied at night time though because it can be a tad sticky for the day. It may not look like a lot but I like to keep things simple and uncomplicated, stress is not good for the soul! My Daily Skin Care Routine - 2/10/14

I have oily/combination skin, as most Asians do, and where I come from the winter is very drying for my skin. A plus of this cleanser is that it is made without parabens, sulfates, and phthlates, so it is gentle on the skin. Tea is also known to soothe and calm the skin. This toner is really good for winter AND summer because it soothes redness and fights pimples without over-drying your skin. I would be cautious if you're someone with dry or sensitive skin, as the tea tree may be a bit too drying for dry skin and may be a bit strong for sensitive skin. The grapefruit water contains a lot of Vitamin C, which brightens your complexion and promotes collagen production, which is essential for youthful skin. Due to grapefruit's fruit acidity, this ingredient also has antibacterial properties, and is good for controlling oil production. I recommend this product for everyone and anyone. I think this stuff is a miracle-maker, and it has worked amazingly for me. This moisturizer is heavily endorsed by my K-idol, Bae Suzy, and is awesome for the hot and humid summer season. Vitamin B 3 is responsible for soothing the skin with its anti-inflammatory properties and zinc helps to control oil production. Personally, I think it is a bit heavy to use as a morning moisturizer in the summer because I have oily skin, but if you have dry skin or even normal skin, then this may work well for you. Some emulsions are more watery than this one, but I was between choosing this emulsion and the cream from the same IOPE line. Locust tree flower helps to soothe and calm inflammation of the skin. Tea tree leaf oil is one of the best natural remedies for acne, as it has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. more...

Each is also available for in-home use if you are unable to afford treatments at a spa, so try one of these at home and you’ll notice that your skin is not only clean, but also glowing. Stick with what makes your skin look the best for you. Moisturizing your skin is a wonderful way to remain looking young and have soft skin as well. If your hair appears healthy, you look younger. When you shampoo your scalp and hair, use your fingertips to scrub your scalp thoroughly to loosen up dirt, oils, and debris. Before going to bed each night, be sure to brush your hair to remove tangles and redistribute natural oils in the hair. Believe it or not, proper nutrition and ample amounts of rest contribute to healthy skin and hair, so make sure to get the proper amounts of vitamins, minerals and nutrients in your food or via supplements. Keep scrolling for our daily skincare menu for every skin type and rest assured you’re using the right products for your skin! “Oily skin is skin that has larger oil glands and a high sebum content,” Rouleau says. Cleansing Gel: “In the case of oily skin, oil breeds bacteria and bacteria leads to breakouts,” Rouleau says. “You want agents that will cut the oil but you don’t want to dry your skin out with too many detergents,” she says. Toner: Rouleau says to look for an alcohol-free toner that has ingredients like sodium PCA (a humectant to hold water to your skin), geranium (an essential oil good for cutting oil), and witch hazel (a natural ingredient with an astringent effect without the drying effects of alcohol). If you’re acne-prone, look for ingredients like salicylic acid and tea tree oil to keep your skin clear. Retinol Serum: “Retinol is good for oily skin because it helps your pores look smaller with continued use,” Rouleau says. “The concept of combination skin is that you’re oily in some places and dry in others,” Rouleau says. Cleansing Gel: See oily skin (if your skin starts getting too dry, you can switch to a cleansing lotion). Retinol Serum: See oily and dry skin. Rouleau says that your skin regimen will be similar to that of those with dry skin, with a few small differences. For aging skin specifically, Rouleau says to remember your neck when it comes to cleansing, treating, and sunscreen—it’s a secret spot that is often the first sign of aging. Toner: See dry skin.
