Daily skin care routine after 30

The Best Skin Care Routine for Your 30s

The Best Skin Care Routine for Your 30s. It’s not all in your head: Skin really does get duller around your thirtieth, when skin cells get as sluggish as you are after a night of tequila shots. “Dead cells sit around longer and rob skin of luminosity,” says Howard Sobel, a dermatologist in New York City. “Glycolic acid is one of the most effective exfoliators because it penetrates more deeply than other acids,” says Fredric Brandt, a dermatologist in New York City and Miami. Rub a drop or two between your fingertips and gently press them over clean skin in the morning, starting with your cheeks, where women typically want to look most radiant. Before you can see sun spots —often caused by beach vacations and long runs (or extended happy hours) outside—they’ve already formed under your skin. Each morning, put on a serum with skin brighteners, like soy (we like  Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 ) or  vitamin C (try Skin Ceuticals C E Ferulic Combination Antioxidant Treatment )—and start now. The sun causes 90 percent of wrinkles, and preventing them (by wearing sunscreen, duh) is easier than smoothing lines later on. And don’t forget the rest of your body, beginning with the thin skin on your chest and hands, which shows signs of aging sooner than other body parts. We like Sun Bum Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 and Supergoop SPF 40 Forever Young Hand Cream, which belongs on your bathroom counter so you remember to use it after washing your hands. more...

Anti - Aging Minimal Skin Care Routine

You can simplify your daily anti-aging routine and still look great. "In the morning, you have oil and dust on your face from sleeping, and in the evening, you have to wash off sunscreen , makeup , dirt, and pollen ," says Amy Derick, MD, a dermatologist in Barrington, Ill. She suggests that you go easy on your skin, too. "Avoid the scrubs with large beads that have irregular shapes that can irritate your skin." "These are mildly irritating to the skin, so you have to strike the right balance between getting the job done without peeling or causing a rash ," Derick says. Wear sunscreen , too, as these can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Make sure you're using the right cleanser for your skin. Harsh soaps won't clear your acne, but they will irritate your skin. Alcohol-free products are the best choices if your skin is irritated by acne treatments or if you have lots of open pimples. But if toners or astringents seem to over-dry or irritate your skin, don’t use them. Ditto if you're using prescription acne medications (they already dry out your skin). You aren't going to harm your skin by not using a toner . Step 3: Apply your acne treatment medications. Many acne medications over-dry the skin, leaving the skin thirsty for moisture. Now that you've got your daily skin care routine down, let's get you an effective acne treatment plan to go along with it. more...

How to Create a Natural Skin Care Routine - Wellness Mama

In general, the natural oil cleansing method is a great solution for any skin type, though the combinations of oils varies based on skin type (see below). The best combination of natural skin care options varies based on skin types: Switching to gentle and natural skin care options often goes a long way toward removing excess oil production, but in the meantime, there are some natural ingredients that can help prevent breakouts and remove excess oil. Moisturizing/Toning: Those with oily skin will need less moisturizing as skin adjusts, and often, the natural oils from oil cleansing are enough. Those with skin that is not typically oily or dry and that responds well to different types of products and makeup usually adjust very quickly to natural skin care options. My skin was more oily when I was younger and as I’ve transitioned to natural skin care options, it has become more “normal” so these are the options that I use: Those with dry or aging skin often benefit immediately from natural skin care options. Often, using natural oils on the skin helps the skin to balance oil production and stop being dry to begin with. The supplements that seemed to have made the biggest difference in skin health for me are: Fermented Cod Liver Oil – for the Vitamins A, D and K, Omega-3s and Antioxidants, all which are great for the skin. Skin care routine. She was telling me that consistency is good for your skin the same way routine watering is good for your orchids. Here we break down the steps to get you on your way to glorious skin. You should customize this routine with products for your skin type and problem areas. The basic routine goes like this: Cleansing removes impurities like dirt, makeup, and grime and clears your skin so that products can better absorb. (People with dry and sensitive skin will want to cleanse only once a day to avoid drying out the skin.)* Be careful not to tug or pull your skin as you do this. That's why it's important to protect your skin from the sun every day - not just on vacation in Hawaii. The basic skin care routine is about maintenance - it keeps your skin functioning smoothly. It also helps your skin better absorb product. *After cleansing, some people use a toner, but be careful: many toners contain alcohol and can dry out or irritate your skin. Your skin needs that underlying sebum, so you don't want to strip away all oil with a toner. more...

Also use a lip balm as part of your skin care routine to heal chapped lips and provide protection from the sun. If you go to the gym in the morning, start your skin care routine as soon as you are back from your daily exercise. Your morning skin care routine should involve; cleanser, toner, lightweight moisturizer, exfoliant and sunscreen. If you forget to do this, your skin care routine will not be nearly as effective. more...

Rethinking Your Skincare Routine : Why Less Is More

All that sunbathing you thought you’d gotten away with starts to deliver results in the form of dark spots and uneven tone. The blue troughs under your eyes don’t go away with a good night’s sleep. Do that — and see the dermatologist occasionally — and we guarantee that you’ll age better than gracefully. When to use it: Morning and night. However, if you can make time to pour a glass of wine and curl up to watch TV, you can manage to scrub off the makeup, pollution, and grime that have accumulated during the day. (Despite its "oily" name, it won’t clog pores.) Note: If you can only bring yourself to cleanse your face once a day, do it in the evening, when skin is dirtiest. You’ll slough off dead cells, making the skin look smoother and enabling better penetration of your daytime products. Sunscreen not only helps prevent skin cancer, it "minimizes your skin’s exposure to free radicals in UV rays, which cause the breakdown of collagen," says Vivian Bucay, MD, a San Antonio dermatologist and melanoma survivor. To save time and money — and space in your medicine cabinet — it’s smart to opt for a formula that’s also hydrating, since most of us need a moisturizer during the day. Tip: Clinical studies show that antioxidants such as vitamins C and E help to fend off the kind of free radicals found in UV rays — and improve your sunscreen’s ability to do the same. more...

My Daily Skin Care Routine

Today I’m excited to be teaming up with Nordstrom to share with you my daily skin care routine. I apply Kiehl’s Creme de Corps to my body right after I shower, that way by the time my hair and makeup are done, the lotion has absorbed and doesn’t get all over my clothes. I wash my face with the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser . I apply Créme de La Mer  to my face and neck (in my opinion this moisturizer is worth of every penny, It’s the only one I’ve used that hasn’t made my face oily or breakout). I apply Laura Mercier Primer to my face before I put my foundation on. I’ve noticed the biggest difference in my skin since using a primer! I wash my face and neck with my cleanser and  Clarisonic Mia . I apply Estée Lauder Advanced Night Serum to my face and neck. If you have any questions about any of the products used or my routine, leave a comment below :) more...

30's Skincare : A Beginning Anti - Aging Regimen

Skin Care in Your 30s. In your 30s, your complexion might appear uneven, rough and less radiant. Make sure to keep up with your basic skin care routine and be consistent. Continue protecting your skin from premature aging and sun damage with sunscreen. Like retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) help generate collagen, smooth lines and even out your complexion. Protect and treat the eyes. As a 30-something, you should introduce an eye cream into your nightly routine. Continue protecting the eye area with sunscreen if your eye cream doesn’t contain SPF. Handle your hands with care. With thinning skin and loss of moisture, hands begin to appear older and can reveal your true age (or worse, add years to it!). Neglecting your hands can lead to sun spots, discoloration and dry skin. If you haven’t done so already, add these steps to your routine. This helps your hands look younger and smoother and allows moisturizer to penetrate better. Always apply sunscreen on your hands (and other exposed areas, like the neck and chest). more...

4 Ways to Develop a Skincare Routine for Dry Skin

Do you have dry, tight and sensitive skin on your face? By simply developing a quick skin care routine, to help dry skin from the inside and out, your skin will feel great and be moisturized but not oily in no time. Then you can use a toner, as they are said to help moisturiser soak in, but some can be harsh and dry out the skin. If you have any special creams for dry patches, now's the time to apply them, before picking a thin daily moisturiser for sensitive skin. This will help protect your skin, and if you choose a moisturising cream for dry and sensitive skin, it will also help keep your skin hydrated throughout the day. Drinking water re-hydrates the skin from the inside, and even if you all ready have a drink with you, some extra liquid won't do any harm. During the rest of the day, eat healthily, drink loads, and keep on top of your dry skin by moisturising all the time. Using one of these will soak in during the night, and nourish it while you sleep, leaving your skin feeling more moisturised in the morning. But for people with dry skin, exfoliators can be harsh and drying for the skin. It brightens the skin, gets rid of dark circles under your eyes, and refreshes your skin while you sleep. Are you on the way to school/work while reading this and have dry skin but haven't done any of the above? As water is one of the key things for moisturised, hydrated skin, whenever you use moisturiser, splash your face first, and without petting it dry, apply your moisturiser. If your skin is really dry and doesn't seem to be improving, you might have a skin condition such as eczema. Do you have dry patches on your skin, but also oily areas? more...
