This is an incredibly important step because if you buy products that aren't appropriate for your skin, they will be incredibly ineffective, and may worsen the situation. Dry Skin-If your skin feels very tight and is noticeably flaky in areas, then you have dry skin. If your face is visibly shiny, and literally feels slightly wet to the touch then you have oily skin. If you have oily skin, you should tone, exfoliate, use a spot treatment, and lightly moisturize once in a while. If you have combination skin, you tend to get oily around your nose, chin, and forehead area, and dry around your cheeks. If you have sensitive skin, use a moisturizer, cleanser, and spot treatment all suitable for sensitive skin. Apply the cleanser and massage it into your skin in upwards, circular motions. By restoring your skin to its natural p H, you also make it more resistant against bacteria and micro-organisms. So after cleansing and toning you should moisturize with a face moisturizer for your skin type. If you haven't applied enough moisturizer and your skin still feels a little tight, then apply a bit more. Your skin needs to get used to the frequency of being treated, and to the products you're using.
My skin is highly acne prone, although over the years it has calmed down quite a bit and I don’t break out as easily. The problem with anti-ageing products is that they are often too emollient and cause breakouts. As my skin has calmed down, I am gradually moving on from hard-to-find, medicated and boutique products (I’m looking at you Avene Triacneal ) to drugstore products that I can pick up while running errands. I don’t care for its artificial fragrance (smells like an incense stick) and the non-existent ingredient list, but out of the limited options, this face wash wins. It is an alcohol-free toner that doesn’t irritate the skin. It claims to even out skin tone, but I haven’t been able to figure how much it has helped since I use other products to do that. Between Alba Botanica and the essence, my face feels lightly moisturized and ready for treatment products. It is not a moisturizer technically, but a humectant that pulls moisture to the skin. After over a month of twice-a-day use, it hasn’t been able to fully fade 2-3 light pimple marks on my face but has evened out the skin tone quite a bit. This product comes with a lot of claims and is but a decent eye cream.

It targets acne by sloughing away dead skin cells that clog pores and lead to breakouts. You aren't going to harm your skin by not using a toner . Step 3: Apply your acne treatment medications. Many acne medications over-dry the skin, leaving the skin thirsty for moisture. They are made from chemicals that are usually much more irritating to the skin than soap. Sometimes color and fragrance is added to the soap to make it more appealing to the user. Ideally the scents in soaps should come only from the essential oils since the fragrance and color add nothing to the actual cleansing process and serve only to increase the potential for irritation and allergic reactions. Use upward strokes on your neck and forehead, and outward strokes or your cheeks, the area around your eyes, and between your brows. This toner is really good for winter AND summer because it soothes redness and fights pimples without over-drying your skin. Personally, I think it is a bit heavy to use as a morning moisturizer in the summer because I have oily skin, but if you have dry skin or even normal skin, then this may work well for you. Some emulsions are more watery than this one, but I was between choosing this emulsion and the cream from the same IOPE line. Locust tree flower helps to soothe and calm inflammation of the skin. Skin Care Routine for Acne Prone Skin. After a lot of hit and trial, I have found a great solution in the last couple of months and you won’t believe it, my skin has completely cleared out. So, here is a skin care routine for acne prone skin for people who are currently dealing with acne. STEP 1 – Cleanse With A Mild Cleanser That Is Meant For Acne Prone Skin – Salicylic acid is great when I’m not currently dealing with breakouts and only need to take care of blackheads and scarring. STEP 2 – Use An Acne Toner – I am skipping this step currently but I know people who include it without any mishaps. This toner is not only effective for acne but also takes care of dirt and blackheads. Even with extreme acne, you need to allow your skin some time to breathe and heal. I don’t just use it on the problem areas but also to cover my cheeks and chin (this is where I get most breakouts). Skip this step if you are going out. No matter how oily your skin is, you have to moisturize it after the BP is completely absorbed. I use the powder after this step. I followed this routine for a week and *sigh* it is so nice to have clear skin again.

Is seeing a very early spring this year with warmer weather by the day, I knew I needed to start tailoring a new skin care routine for my combination, acne prone skin. There are so many removers that are way too harsh and leave my skin flaky, but a lot of gentler formulas just don’t get the job done. The aloe and cucumber also add a little bit of a moisturizing effect. I need a gentle cleanse morning and night as the foundation of my routine. It’s got a beautiful spa like feel on the face and leaves me clean without stripping. I pair it with the FOREO Luna Mini to get deep into pores and whisk away dirt and oil at the end of the day. In the morning, I’m only using the new Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water on an exfoliating cotton pad, since I don’t feel that I need anything stronger— only to wipe away any sweat and oil accumulated during the night and start out with a balanced face for makeup. I’m currently loving and using the Garnier Clearly Brighter Brightening & Smoothing Daily Moisturizer , which has a thin consistency but is still moisturizing enough to have my skin feeling great all day. With this routine, my acne has been tamed to about 10% of what it was even a month ago, and my skin has felt way more balanced across the board. While it seems like a lot, I’m willing to take the extra time if it means my skin looks clear, radiant and provides a great base for my makeup.

Skin Care Routine for Oily, Acne Prone Skin. In my opinion, oily skin is the hardest skin type to take care of. Oil is not your enemy, it is a necessary thing for your skin. The use of a harsh product will only make your skin produce more oil. If you don’t moisturize you will get flaky skin on top of your oily skin. I’m not saying that you will go from oily skin to normal skin just by using different products. I’m saying you can get more control on your oil production and begin to even out your skin tone. Exfoliating too much will irritate your skin, and can spread the oil around and create more break outs. In that case use a cleanser “for all skin types”. If you are extremely oily get a moisturizer that is “oil free”. With oily skin, the excess oil will mix with the dead skin and settle in your pores (sorry if that is a gross image, but it’s true). This will soak up all extra oil without drying you out or stripping your skin. Even though you are oily and you may think you don’t need that heavy cream by your eyes- you do! The skin around the eye area is different from the rest of your face and it doesn’t produce oil the same.

I've been using nearly all these products since May and have been so pleased with the improvement I've seen in my skin. My reaction was to fight the acne with harsh products that speckled my oily skin with dry patches. After a few days of using that cleanser morning and night, my skin had broken out in the most painful, embarrassing chemical burn! Today I'm sharing the products that I use every morning. I like to keep my routine fairly quick and my products rather light since my skin is already oily and doesn't require heavy moisturization in the daytime. This Simple cleanser was the first one I switched to after my incident in May and I've loved it ever since. It doesn't, however, dry out the skin, which is glorious. I use the Deep Pore Brush Head and find it really does help clear out pores, minimizing them and improving the overall texture of my skin. It plumps and smooths the skin and creates a perfect base for applying makeup. I really enjoy the feeling of hydration that I experience with a thick eye cream and I like to know I'm doing my part to prevent signs of aging around the eye. This eye cream is intensely moisturizing without being greasy or heavy and it doesn't sting the eye! I've really been loving the results of these products and I especially love that they are affordable! Check back tomorrow for my evening routine and later this week for details on the products that I like to use weekly or as treatments when necessary.
