DIY : Make Your Own All - Natural Moisturizing Face Cream

Has anyone tried argan oil and did you use it as a substitution for another oil. This means that when it is added to oils, it will HELP to prolong the shelf life of an oil otherwise exposed to oxygen and thus, oxidation. Stacy essential oils are not preservatives, you are right BUT the vitamin E is a preservative. It is necessary to use emulsifier to combine the water and oil ingredients What do you think? I tried the one you mentioned, but Im sticking with the Somaluxe Moisturizer - I put on my face every night and mornings my skin looks radiant. Do you know of any converter tool that will help with this quickly? If you try another batch and have the same issue, please let me know! With all do respect, you're promoting a dangerous and overall bad formulation: You have water based botonic ingredients with no preservative, no heating and holding to kill bacteria and lack of an emulsifier to combine and stabilize the mixture of oil and water ingredients. Starting with the most important, any water based botonical such as aloe and hydrosols MUST be properly preservred (and no, essential oils are not preservatives, they're antioxidants). Lastly, unless you use an emulsifier to combine the water and oil ingredients you're going to have a lumpy, separated mess. more...

With this homemade cream, I’ve finally found something perfect for my skin type. Since I made the switch from my previous night-time moisturizer ( Cera Ve ) to this homemade blend, I’ve noticed a big difference in how smooth and soft my skin is when I wake up in the morning. I’ve also noticed that the moisturizer isn’t just lovely for the face – it can be used all over the body. The best part is that the blend is made up of only three natural ingredients, which happen to be packed full of antioxidants -perfect for protecting against free radicals and keeping your skin silky smooth! Another plus –  it smells delicious from the coconut oil and cocoa butter. Combine all ingredients in a small pan or double boiler and heat just until the cocoa butter melts. Make a batch for yourself and apply it each night after washing your face. Or make a batch for a friend – a small jar of this makes a great homemade holiday gift. I can’t wait for the 80° weather! more...

Melt the oils and blend it all up. Put caps on jars and store any cream that you will not be using within the next month into the fridge. I made the above recipe this evening and am having trouble with the oils separating. I made this recently, for the third time, and I had a similar problem. Kristyne, Thank you so much for the info, appreciate that and will be trying the electric mixer with this next time! For the beeswax, I just used a tea light and so would assume any beeswax would work as well. Not sure what that would do to the blend though…) Anyway, thank you for sharing this recipe! Thanks for the recipe! Thank you for sharing your recipe and techniques. This looks like a perfect cream that I would want to make, but have a qt, I bought vanilla extract, and was chking the ingredients and it said its made with invert sugar syrup. 4 DIY All - Natural Facial Cleansers - Keeper of the Home

Making your own facial cleanser is a great way to avoid putting chemicals on your skin (and into your bloodstream). The beauty of using honey as a facial cleanser is that there is no need for mixing or measuring! Honey is an excellent cleanser for every skin type. To wash your face with honey: For make-up free skin, squirt a small amount of honey (less than a teaspoon) into the palm of your hand. Rub the honey between your palms and then massage into your face. (For further details, see Removing Make-up the Honey, Face Wash Way .) Variations: Mix a little milk or cream with honey for a a cleanser especially suited to dry skin. For extremely oily skin, try adding a little lemon juice to the honey. The oil cleansing method has grown increasingly popular over the past few years, and for good reason; cleaning your face with oil makes skin soft and radiant. Let it sit for a few minutes, and wash off with warm water. Leave yogurt on the skin for a minute or two (if you have time), then wash off with warm water. Cleansing grains gently exfoliate as well as clean the skin. However, the process can be expedited by keeping a jar of dry grains in the bathroom cabinet along with a small bowl and spoon for preparing the cleanser. more...

DIY Skincare - How To Make All - Natural Skincare Products at

Through the years, I’ve spent a lot of money trying out different products to deal with acne, blackheads, and oily skin. To start out, I researched a lot about natural skincare and learned about the oil cleansing method (where you actually use oil to cleanse your face), read about different kinds of oils, and found different resources for cosmetic compound developments. I decided that I wanted to try a combination of oil cleansing, all natural skin exfoliant, and the old fashioned method of using cold cream at night. The oil cleansing method relies on the theory that clean oil is the best way to draw out the dirt and oil that clogs pores. My next step in developing my own skincare was deciding what kinds of oil to use, I’ve read about the benefits of grape seed oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), and extra virgin coconut oil (EVCO) for your skin. I kept all of this in mind while developing my skincare routine, and still decided to stick with using extra virgin coconut oil on my face, while mixing it with other products. I still wanted to use coconut oil to cleanse my face, though, so I thought the best compromise would be to combine coconut oil with other elements to clean and exfoliate my skin. The natural skincare regimen I decided on starts out with the old housewife tradition of nightly removing makeup with cold cream. (read recipe below) To remove my makeup, I use my hand to apply the cold cream all over my face (except my eyes, more on that later), and then use a clean, slightly damp washcloth to wipe it all off. On days I don’t wear makeup, I just skip to the next step up gently scrubbing my face with the exfolient I made Then I apply a very light coat of the cold cream and allow it to sit greasily on my face all night, which softens my skin, reduces the appearance of scars and fine lines, and also reduces my skin’s tendency to overproduce oil. In the morning I just dab at my face with a warm, damp washcloth and apply my makeup as usual. I moisten a cotton ball with this solution, wipe it across my eyes until all of the makeup is removed, and then begin the rest of my skincare regimen as mentioned in the above paragraph. more...

Green Tea Repairing Face Cream Recipe - Sweet Anne

[question]This Green Tea recipe has become a fan favorite, and I’ve been asked a lot of questions about it. Combine wax and oils in a double boiler or chocolate melter. Open the tea bag and pour loose tea into the oils. Let the mixture warm and extract from the tea for 15 minutes. Whip the mixture with your hand mixer, periodically scraping down the sides, until lotion is room temperature and creamy. [accordion title=”Can I use loose leaf tea? It shouldn’t hurt anything if you use too much.[/accordion] [accordion title=”Can I leave the tea in the bag?”]You can certainly try. I was afraid that the viscosity of the oils would keep it from permeating the tea bag, and I wouldn’t get any green tea in at all.[/accordion] [accordion title=”Do I need Beeswax? In this particular recipe, all of the oils are measured by volume but the beeswax is measured by weight. The coconut oil was measured in its semi-solid room temp state.[/accordion] [accordion title=”Can I add/substitute this, that or the other thing?”]I get these sort of questions a lot. Make your own face creams - Glenbrook Farm's Herbs and Such

A Cream is an “emulsion” of a water base and an oil base by use of an “emulsifier agent” to bind the two bases so they will not separate. The basic difference between a cream and a lotion is the amount/use of various oils and water base percentages to formulate a cream. In a Cream formulation, the water-base percentage is about 60-75 % and the oil-base is about 20-30 % of the total, with the other percentages being the emulsifier agent, preservatives and additives for a total of 100 % . For a All Natural Cream of the First type, one can use a Beeswax/borax combo as the emulsifier along with lecithin for a second emulsifier to bind the water and oil bases together. The water in the cream is suspended in the oil base. Or you can still use the beeswax/borax combination by using a 70-75 % water base for the cream. The oil in the cream is suspended in the water base. Oil base  –- Total Percentage =  32 % You can add stiffness to your cream by adding 1 % palm stearic acid to the oil base, decreasing the oil amount by 1 % as well. Oil base  –- Total Percentage = 20 %         I use Rose and oatmeal and rooibos  herbal water or just rose hydrosol as my water in the water-base for a soothing base. Note that the water base is increased, the oil base decreased to allow this cream to sink into the skin quickly, just as a lotion would do. Notes: For a body cream a “lighter” oil is used that absorbs quickly,  a higher percentage of water, a lower percentage of emulsifier for a light thin cream that will spread easily and absorb into skin quickly. For a stiffer body cream you can add .05 % kaolin clay as an additive, mixing your EO into the clay before adding to the cream and decrease the water base by .05 5 so as to keep the total percentage at 100 %. more...

Make Your Own Homemade Facial Cleansers . . . 4 All
