Homemade Organic Skin Products. Homemade organic products support healthy skin care and the environment. Purchase the ingredients to make organic skin products at health food stores, natural-food markets or online. Add enough organic aloe vera gel or distilled water to the dry ingredients to make a paste. Homemade organic creams and lotions use a process called emulsification to mix oil and a liquid. Use a blender, running on high speed, to mix the liquid and essential oil. With the blender running, slowly drip the heated oils and beeswax through the top of the blender. When the blender makes a choking sound and the mixture turns white, you have successfully made an organic night cream. Make homemade, organic skin lotions the same way that you make night cream, but add 1/3 to 1/2 more water to create the consistency of a lotion. To enhance the lotion with a pleasing scent, add 10 to 20 drops of an organic essential oil such as rose absolute, lavender or lemon. Add the essential oil to the water; do not heat it with the other oils. Add five to 10 drops of organic essential oil and approximately 1/4 cup of distilled water.

With the growing awareness of the hazards that everyday skin care and household products can cause, consumers are becoming more interested in more natural products. An advantage to starting a skin care product business is that you become your own boss and can begin slowly with minimal start up costs. Not only will you expand and share your growing knowledge, you will have the opportunity to correspond with a lot of individuals that share your interest. One of the first decisions that you should make is the selection of your business name and logo. It should reflect positively on your business and products. If you plan to create a Web site for your business, try to coordinate the name of your business with a domain name that is available, and then buy the domain name so that no other company grabs it up from you. When you first begin making your products, your first customers will probably be your friends, family and colleagues (if you work outside of the home). Create a catalog or flyer that details your products, and provide copies to everyone that you know. Organize skin care parties where you demonstrate your products and provide incentives for women to hostess your party. To create your products, you will need a kitchen equipped with the appliances and kitchenware necessary to manufacture your products. Often, you can find inexpensive kitchenware that has never been used and would be perfect for using exclusively for production of your skin care products. Choose Your Business Entity: Most in-home businesses begin as a sole-proprietorship, and this is the easiest way to begin. It is also necessary so that you can properly report and file your taxes.

First off, we need to understand what the products are, and what they will do for our skin. The ingredients needed to make your own body butters and scrubs are basic, and can be purchased in bulk to lower the overall cost. The main butters I use in skin care recipes include shea butter, cocoa butter, and mango butter, but other varieties are also available. The first step in making a body butter or shower scrub is choosing your ingredients, and to do this you need to know their characteristics and how they will benefit your skin. The addition of oil to body butters and scrubs provides extra nourishment to the skin, but also softens the butter ingredients into a texture that is enjoyable to use. For a basic body butter, these are the only two ingredients necessary. The ratios of butter to oil will vary with the ingredients themselves, the temperature of your house, and your projected use of the product. Place the shea butter and coconut oil in your stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment. It is best not to use the body butter and shower scrubs during the same shower session, as this will provide too many oils for your skin to soak up, and will feel very greasy. In general, body butters and shower scrubs are not meant to be used on the face.
The ingredients all sound foreign to me, and I always forget the key words to look out for. So for the most part I try and take matters into my own hands. There was a big fancy machine that took a photo of your face and showed all the different layers and problem areas of your skin. After the assessment, she asked what my current skin care regimen was. Mix in the honey and apple cider vinegar with a fork until smooth. I’ve read time and time again that using coffee grounds in a skin scrub helps to tighten the skin, diminish cellulite, etc. I applied to my legs in the shower and rinsed thoroughly. I use this all year long, even in the dead of summer and on 30+ mile bike rides. Soften the coconut oil in the microwave and mix everything together until smooth. After one use: The soap was very sudsy which I love, and a little goes a long way.

That was the last straw. I've bought a $0.99 book on the same topic (beauty recipes) and it was way better written than this one. I planned to use the book as a reference for a new hobby. As for the content and recipes themselves, if you're new to this hobby of creating your own homemade beauty products for your own use, I'd like to add that the recipes are not for small portions. I highly recommend a cheaper and better book by Jenna Pratchett (Natural Beauty and Skin Care Tips) for beginners who are just testing their wings on this hobby. Nevertheless, I'm glad I was too excited to read this book immediately and was able to return the copy before the 7 days "warranty" was done. If you're determined to get this book, by all means, please get the printed copy because the Kindle edition really pissed me off. I seriously hope the sellers would review the Kindle edition and then redistribute if for sale. Although it's not full of recipes you eat (well, some of them might taste good, and are certainly safer to consume than most of the beauty products on the market), this book is getting as much, if not more use than its new neighbors (my cookbooks, of course). The best part is that these recipes work for my sensitive skin. Take it from someone who has had her share of natural beauty experiment disasters, this book actually is kind to your skin and the environment, too.

I've seen recipes for oily skin masks, but I don't think oily skin and acne-prone skin are really the same thing. On the other hand, I have been using honey and oil to cleanse my face recently and it has really helped with the oiliness. It explains the logic behind cleansing oily skin with oil. Basically oil desolves oil, plus you need to choose the right oil for your skin type and the ratio with castor oil that works for you. I found a website with a recipe for cleanser of tea tree essential oil + filtered water; and applying pure tea tree oil to the affected areas, but not too frequently. Tea tree oil has good antibacterial properties and apparently penetrates beneath the skin to fight the bacterial infection that causes breakouts. I am looking to replace the oil of olay with something else thats non-toxic, and I'd love to hear any ideas anyone might have. O skin and AC prone skin arent the same. i have been using aubrey's natural herbal moisturizer for oily skin and my skin is oily, sensitive, acne-prone. I've heard from many reputable sources that the best way to make organic skin care products is to use oils. Too often we use products that have only a few "working" ingredients and the rest is drying and useless. You can make your own with sugar or salt and the oils of your choice.
Through the years, I’ve spent a lot of money trying out different products to deal with acne, blackheads, and oily skin. To start out, I researched a lot about natural skincare and learned about the oil cleansing method (where you actually use oil to cleanse your face), read about different kinds of oils, and found different resources for cosmetic compound developments. I decided that I wanted to try a combination of oil cleansing, all natural skin exfoliant, and the old fashioned method of using cold cream at night. The oil cleansing method relies on the theory that clean oil is the best way to draw out the dirt and oil that clogs pores. My next step in developing my own skincare was deciding what kinds of oil to use, I’ve read about the benefits of grape seed oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), and extra virgin coconut oil (EVCO) for your skin. I kept all of this in mind while developing my skincare routine, and still decided to stick with using extra virgin coconut oil on my face, while mixing it with other products. I still wanted to use coconut oil to cleanse my face, though, so I thought the best compromise would be to combine coconut oil with other elements to clean and exfoliate my skin. The natural skincare regimen I decided on starts out with the old housewife tradition of nightly removing makeup with cold cream. (read recipe below) To remove my makeup, I use my hand to apply the cold cream all over my face (except my eyes, more on that later), and then use a clean, slightly damp washcloth to wipe it all off. On days I don’t wear makeup, I just skip to the next step up gently scrubbing my face with the exfolient I made Then I apply a very light coat of the cold cream and allow it to sit greasily on my face all night, which softens my skin, reduces the appearance of scars and fine lines, and also reduces my skin’s tendency to overproduce oil. In the morning I just dab at my face with a warm, damp washcloth and apply my makeup as usual. I moisten a cotton ball with this solution, wipe it across my eyes until all of the makeup is removed, and then begin the rest of my skincare regimen as mentioned in the above paragraph.
Home / Homemade / Do it yourself / Nourish Your Face with Homemade Skin Care. Nourish Your Face with Homemade Skin Care. • Baking Soda works well as a natural means for exfoliating dead skin cells, leaving your face smooth and clean. • Egg Whites help to tighten skin, giving your face a healthy glow while diminishing the look of fine lines. Egg whites also help to remove dead skin cells and draw excess oil from the pores while tightening them. For example, papaya helps to moisturize and even-out skin tone. In addition, the antibacterial and antimicrobial properties of honey naturally help acne-prone skin to heal and clear. Coconut oil and avocado oil are two of the most popular and both work well for all skin types. And for dry skin, carrot seed oil is often recommended. It helps to absorb excess oil and makes your skin feel tighter and smoother. It also helps even out skin tone and has anti-aging properties that help fight free radicals. Once you’ve selected the ingredients that work with your skin, it’s as simple as blending them together and storing them in airtight containers. Forget expensive spa treatments and products, you can help reduce fine lines and achieve healthy skin by using wholesome real foods available right in your own kitchen. Use blueberries for normal, dry and sensitive skin types.
I just purchased this book and it's great for a beginner [skincare crafter] like me. DIY recipes have always intrigued me, and overall this book is a good addition to my general DIY book collection. The one and only eye recipe entitled "Eye Cream" is really not a cream at all, but a recipe made up of several oils. Same for the facial moisturizers on pages 28 and 29. The Comfrey Infused Oil looks great, but it calls for fresh comfrey. I am assuming so, but it would have been nice for the author to state so. Still on the hunt for a better book. I had a lot of fun with this book-enough to purchase after borrowing from the library. I hadn't made skin care products before and the recipes were easy enough to follow. Most of the recipes I made (and I made a lot of them) turned out and I have gone back to making more of the same one when I ran out rather than searching for a new recipe from a different source. There is a small section that explains the reason for choosing the specific ingredients which is always nice to know. This was fun for me and helped with stress. The author touches briefly on skin care and blemishes emerging with cleansing.

I use shea butter in my lotion, lotion bars, deodorant, face cream, baby lotion, diaper cream and many other recipes! Cocoa butter is another “butter” and a great addition to natural beauty recipes. It can be used interchangeably with Shea Butter, though I find that my favorite recipes include Shea butter, Cocoa Butter , and Coconut Oil. Recipes like smoother lotions, baby oil, salves, and after-shave balms often need to be thinner than coconut oil and the butters will allow. The Nickel Pincher: Make Your Own Organic Deodorant and Skin-Care Products. A lot of toxic ingredients lurk in personal-care products, and you can avoid them all by making your own. Body odor comes from the bacteria that feast on your sweat; inhibit the bacteria and you will stay shower-fresh all day. Most people do not perspire all that much during routine activities, anyway, especially after their sweat glands have rid themselves of the toxins in commercial antiperspirants and deodorants (this last is key to remember as you make the transition from chemical-laden products to simple, natural ones; as the first few days you may sweat a bit more before your body settles down). A few drops of tea tree oil or your favorite essential oil (optional) Heat the shea butter briefly in the microwave or in a double boiler to soften it, then combine it with the other ingredients. For larger areas, I prefer using straight organic coconut oil; it is a soft solid below 76 degrees F, but melts in the heat of your hand to become an easily absorbed liquid. A few drops of your favorite essential oil (optional) Combine the oil and herbs in a double boiler and heat over simmering water for at least 15 minutes. Strain the oil through a coffee filter and return it to the double boiler. Add the grated beeswax and essential oil (if using), stirring until smooth. You can skip both the herb-infusion step and the essential oil if you like and make plain almond-beeswax balm, too. A few drops of your favorite essential oil (patchouli and sandlewood, cypress and bergamont, or rose and ylang ylang are great combinations to try) Combine oils (heat coconut oil over hot water to liquefy) and store in a glass bottle.

Without any soap at all (which is great since soap strips the natural oils in the skin). Plain olive or coconut oil will also remove mascara (even waterproof) and will remove other make-up as well but isn’t as ideal if you have oily skin. For oily skin- Liquid Castille soap in water will remove makeup without adding oils to the skin or stripping the natural ones. It is naturally full of collagen supporting lauric acid and is easily absorbed by the skin. Even for oily and acne prone skin, coconut oil’s natural anti-bacterial properties make it a great option. Natural Anti-Aging. Is it natural?
