If you have to touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water - or alternatively, use a face towel. Determine your skin type and buy skin care products to suit your skin type. This is an incredibly important step because if you buy products that aren't appropriate for your skin, they will be incredibly ineffective, and may worsen the situation. Dry Skin-If your skin feels very tight and is noticeably flaky in areas, then you have dry skin. If your face is visibly shiny, and literally feels slightly wet to the touch then you have oily skin. If you have oily skin, you should tone, exfoliate, use a spot treatment, and lightly moisturize once in a while. If you have combination skin, you tend to get oily around your nose, chin, and forehead area, and dry around your cheeks. If you have sensitive skin, use a moisturizer, cleanser, and spot treatment all suitable for sensitive skin. Apply the cleanser and massage it into your skin in upwards, circular motions. By restoring your skin to its natural p H, you also make it more resistant against bacteria and micro-organisms. So after cleansing and toning you should moisturize with a face moisturizer for your skin type. If you haven't applied enough moisturizer and your skin still feels a little tight, then apply a bit more. Your skin needs to get used to the frequency of being treated, and to the products you're using.
Lastly, the use of air conditioning, fans and showering often can make our skin dull and dry over the summer. First, wash your face with cold water to cool off the heat, and then cleanse your face. Makeups, sweat, blackheads, and pores can easily cause blemishes and acne during summer so you should use a foam type of cleanser that can cleanse your face softly. South Korean and Japanese markets from 1985; Western markets from 2012. BB cream stands for blemish balm, blemish base, beblesh balm, and in Western markets, beauty balm. It is a cosmetic item sold mainly in Asian markets, although the majority of larger beauty brands have introduced BB creams to Western markets. BB cream is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock. Because Korean companies focused initially on the Korean and East Asian markets, they are offered in a limited number of hues. The cream is promoted as a multi-tasker and all-in-one treatment, but Korean women mostly use it as an alternative to foundation, particularly those with Western formulations that tend to be too heavy for their tastes. Notable Korean brands include Etude House , Missha , Nature Republic , Rachel K , Skin Food , Sulhwasoo , and The Face Shop . Western cosmetics companies began to launch BB creams in the Western market in 2012, though some of these creams have been criticized for lacking the skin-caring functions that BB creams normally have, and for being no more than tinted moisturizer.[ citation needed ] Early arrivals included Boscia , Clinique , Dior , Estée Lauder , Garnier , Marcelle , Maybelline , Revlon and Smashbox . Certain BB creams have been tailored for Western markets: Estée Lauder, for example, has not included the whitening properties in their formulation for North America. Cruelty-free and vegan BB creams[ edit ] BB creams advertised as cruelty-free include Smashbox (owned by Estée Lauder ) and The Body Shop (owned by L'Oreal ). Vegan BB creams include the Superdrug own brand BB cream, BB cream souffles from Haut Cosmetics, 100% Pure Cosmetics, and the Evenly Radiant BB Crème from Dermae.

Since practically the dawn of time, Korean women have been obsessed with taking care of their skin and maintaining a perfectly-manicured visage. To decode some of the most game-changing skincare/makeup techniques inside the vast K-beauty world, we looked to Charlotte Cho, curator and co-founder of Soko Glam , whose book The Little Book of Skincare: Korean Beauty Secrets for Healthy, Glowing Skin comes out in November, to give us the deets on all we need to know. After removing your makeup at the end of the day, you should first draw out sebum and bacteria using a gentle, oil-based cleanser that'll hydrate without leaving residue. "Oil eliminates impurities without drying out the skin," explains Charlotte Cho, curator and co-founder of Soko Glam. "When you massage your face, you want to work with the direction of the muscles, not against," writes Cho in her forthcoming book The Little Book of Skincare: Korean Beauty Secrets for Healthy, Glowing Skin . "Starting just underneath your cheekbones, use the knuckles of your first two fingers (with your hands in fists) and work out and slightly up from there. Press as firmly as what feels good to you, since the oil will keep the pressure from pulling your skin. Start at the bridge of your nose and move out to your temples." Hydration is the hallmark of Korean skincare as it plumps the skin, fills in gaps, and thus reduces the visibility of fine lines, says Cho. "Sheet masks are the most effective because as the sheet rests on your face, it forces the antioxidants and vitamins to mingle with your skin," explains Cho. "A sheet mask helps lock the nutrients in, and your skin will be brighter, softer and hydrated." Believe it or not, K-beauty has been at the forefront of the no-makeup, makeup look and gradient lips are a focal point, according to Cho.
This softens, moisturizes, and preps your skin to better absorb the essences and serums to follow. This is meant to hydrate and protect the skin around the eyes. I think it boils down first and foremost to achieving healthy skin from the inside out. You take the first layer off with a gentle, gentle oil cleanser and get all the oil-based impurities off your face, then you follow up with very gentle, nourishing, non-stripping water-based foam cleanser to get all your water-based impurities off. On the trick to mixing and matching your products… Retinol and AHAs actually can be used together, as the ingredients will stay active, but can be a bit harsh on the skin. Be the Skin Non-Stimulus Face Polisher is the exfoliator that I was telling you about; your dead flakes and impurities just gently roll off the face. This heats up on the face and uses charcoal to draw toxins and impurities out. Slowly add products to your routine and see if the consistency and ingredients are beneficial to your skin. The fun is in the discovery of new skincare products and finding the ones that work best for you.” Massaging the skin when cleansing helps with circulation and leads to a brighter complexion. The state-of-the-art Korean skincare technologies (and there are several) really do lead the world. Koreans—especially women but men as well—view the care of skin as something to savor and enjoy. When it comes to daily skincare regimens, the ‘sense of urgency’ and compulsion to hurry and finish are typically absent.
You just need the right products for your skin type, the correct techniques and the motivation to care for your skin every single day! Your skin will thank you - promise! When you wake up in the morning, wash your face . When washing your face, use a special facial cleanser or even just water and a cloth, which will be enough to keep the loose skin, oil, and dirt to an acceptable level. If you have dry skin on your hands, put some hand cream on in the morning. During the school day, you don't need to worry about your face that much. Most cleansers will both cleanse and exfoliate your skin, which are two steps in the '5 Steps to great skin'(more on that later as well). Lightweight means that it's not heavy and oily, so it won't add to the oil on your skin or clog your pores. To use a face mask, wet your face and scoop some of the mask onto your fingertips. Water will leave your skin looking hydrated and rejuvenated! In fact, washing your face more than twice a day will dry out your skin, which will actually cause it to produce more oil to make up for the lost oil. Make sure that you're not allergic to any of the products that you will be using on your face.
Many of us are using non-soap cleansers (like Cetaphil) and gentle foaming cleansers that don’t have enough surfactants to lift dirt or makeup from the face. But, because residuals from oils can block the absorption of serums and other active ingredients (applied later in your regimen) that are designed to penetrate deep into the skin, it’s important to wash your face again with a gentle cleanser, according to Dr. 3/9 SLIDES © Photo: Via Diptyque. Rogers worries that this may do more harm than good, as over-exfoliating can strip the skin of oils and trigger irritation during anti-aging steps that may follow (like the use of retinoids and antioxidants). 4/9 SLIDES © Photo: Via Darphin. But, if you use an anti-aging product later in your routine (a serum or retinoid, for example), she says, you don’t need an anti-aging toner, too — applying twice the amount of anti-aging ingredients doesn’t mean your skin will absorb more. 5/9 SLIDES © Photo: Via Skin Ceuticals. With this in mind, it becomes more impactful to get your anti-aging actives from a serum than from a layer — or three — of heavy creams and moisturizers, as “the third or fourth product is not likely to reach your skin,” says Dr. Wu.“I like my face cream to be really bland and simply serve as a barrier to protect the skin," says Dr. "Because, if you have a good anti-aging step, then you don’t need the expensive cream that also has antioxidants in it — it’s harder to get those active ingredients from the creams down to the skin."In the interest of paring down, can you use the same moisturizer during the day and at night? Step 12: Eye Cream Do you really need a separate cream for the skin around the eyes? While this skin is thinner and more sensitive than on other parts of the face, not everyone needs to use a dedicated eye cream, says Dr.
