Whether they’re born beautiful, or whether it is their beauty regime, we all cherish and idolize the radiant, acne-free, and flawless skin that Korean women possess. But what is the secret of their beautiful skin and can we get a flawless skin like them too? The main difference between the Korean skin care and the other skin care regimes is that Koreans are taught to take care of their skin right from childhood. They consider skin care as the ultimate investment and spend considerable time in taking care of it. A good skin care regime reduces the chances of unwanted blemishes and other skin problems and makes your skin radiant . Cleansing and exfoliating help remove the impurities from the skin and unclog the pores for a smooth and refreshed skin. Toning sets the skin after cleansing and exfoliating so that the skin absorbs the moisturizer well. They replenish and nourish the skin, and simultaneously, shrink the size of pores. This is what toners actually do – refresh the skin and set it for the next skin care regime. It helps to brighten the skin and preserve its elasticity.
There was a time when the harvesting of these birds nests from their natural caves was ecologically devastating, but the days of cave harvesting are over. I was able to find research backing the skincare benefit claims of some of the individual components of a bird’s nest, but could find no research in English that studied the bird’s nest as a whole in terms of skincare benefits. But if the skincare benefits are as real as they seem, I certainly don’t want to miss out. Bee venom has been used for years to treat arthritis, back pain, and rheumatism, but as a skincare ingredient, it’s still a newcomer. The idea is that the skin benefits from it because of a compound contained in the venom called “melitten.” Melitten contains anti-inflammatory properties that are said to be stronger than hydrocortisone. I was unable to find a completed study specifically regarding the effects of bee venom in skincare. No doubt you’ve seen American products advertising stem cell technology, but the difference is that the stem cells in American products are plant derived. The skincare benefits of using these stem cells, sometimes called called RG 2, is increased cell regeneration and sun damage reversal. There have been many studies done on the efficacy of stem cell technology in skincare, and it looks as though the claims are true. Stem cell based skincare is huge in Korea, with many experts arguing that it’s the greatest innovation in skincare to date. It has the potential to be huge here, but there is a lot of controversy over stem cell research and usage in this country. Most products featuring Syn-ake are serums, although there are some skincare lines that feature moisturizing creams and emulsions containing the compound. Like bee venom, Syn-ake is touted as a Botox alternative, but what sets it apart is that there have actually been studies done on its safety and efficacy. What I’ve learned from all this is that I apparently have no boundaries when it comes to skincare.
I get emails asking what sites are the best for purchasing Korean BB creams, lenses, masks, and other beauty related products. The shops I am listing today are for Korean skin care, bb creams or other make up. It’s more of a skin care shop, but they do have make up, and even men’s skin care. I do recommend this shop for skin care products. You can get FREE SHIPPING if you just buy a product from the free shipping zone. Just adding one of the products from the free shipping zone will get you free shipping for your entire order, even if it less than $70. They seem to have good CS and they have so many products! For shipping, they have a better “deal” on the most part for international shipping. For other countries like Norway, you pay the amount that they calculate for weight. Gmarket handles all the money and the international shipping. Then the shops send the products to the Gmarket warehouse, then Gmarket puts together all the items and send it to you. I have purchased from Gmarket, be aware the shipping costs are a bit expensive. The best part of this shop is that they have free shipping. They do have some Skinfood and Etude House, and other brands products.

The Proper Order to Apply Skin Care. How we treat our skin affects how our makeup looks and how we age. It also helps us from troublesome skin issues and can lessen signs of skin discoloration. Since the purpose of lotions and serums is to penetrate the skin, allowing active ingredients to work their magic, the order these products are applied is of the utmost importance. To ensure you’re doing it right – nourished skin and a youthful face aren’t far away – follow these steps: These nutrient-rich treatments can absorb deep into your skin providing you with vitamin C, E and a range of other helpful ingredients that will do wonders for your face. In order to fix these and moisturize your skin (creating the perfect base for concealers and eyeshadows), add an eye cream to your daily routine. In the morning you want to apply a moisturizer to banish dry skin and set the stage for makeup application. In the evening, give your face a thick slathering of lotion and let the product’s powers penetrate and repair your skin as you sleep. Do you have a magic skin care product you apply daily?

The regimen is usually characterized as a 10-step process using some skin care products in categories that don't even exist in the U. In the morning, you are allowed to skip the oil-based cleanser and just use the foaming cleanser since your skin is already pretty clean from the night before. Toner: I'm a toner scoffer and I don't think I've used one since my Sea Breeze days, but it's an intrinsic part of the process. Product: Be the Skin Botanical Pore Toner , $25. Serums: "With serums it doesn't matter the order you put them on, but this is where the steps multiply and it starts getting crazy," Yoon said. I did this before the toner. You've done all that work twice a day, so in order to maintain that dewiness you've achieved and "re-activate" the products, you must mist periodically. RATING THE REGIMEN: After a few days of fumbling, this regimen, with the exceptions I noted, became pretty routine for me. I have been battling hormonal breakouts for a while, and when I embarked on this regimen, they were finally starting to be controlled - I was really concerned that all this product would exacerbate the issue. I should note that this particular regimen was very expensive, because the products were from fairly high-end brands. And I love the two-step cleansing system and toner. Ditto the sleep mask and gel peel.
Where to buy Korean and Japanese Makeup and Skincare you ask? The biggest and best selection of Korean and Japanese Makeup, Skincare, and Beauty is right online at your finger tips. The nice thing about Sasa is the fact you can a wide range of everything from Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese brands. The stock is sometimes kinda low and they sell out of things quickly I’ve noticed but they do restock so you have to keep your eyes peeled. The sad part is they are limited sometimes to what they do stock from brands…like Etude House they carry but it’s a very limited amount of product they have and not newly released items. They also carry drugstore brands like Maybelline and the nice thing is you can indulge in products we haven’t yet gotten from Maybelline here in the US. They are also the mecca for Asian skincare and sheet masks from brands like My Beauty Dairy, etc. This one is sadly lacking in Korean beauty here unfortunately but a good amount of Japanese skincare and beauty from brands like Jill Stuart, Canmake, Kose, KATE, Majolica Majorca. Excellent variety of skincare, beauty, and makeup however, more concentrated on Japanese brands here with a few Taiwanese ones like My Beauty Dairy but no selection of Korean ones. Excellent variety of products and the newest, hottest Asian releases in both cosmetics and skincare. They have a good selection but sometimes aren’t as active with newer products and collections. They have incredible prices that are close to retail plus an excellent selection of the hottest and newest Korean beauty products.

Enter Peach and Lily : an e-tailer that curates the best in beauty from Korea and Japan—only 5% of brands make the cut—so that American women can have the crème de la crème from Asia at their fingertips. We spoke with the e-boutique’s co-founder and trained aesthetician, Alicia Yoon, and asked her to divulge the secret to Korean women’s bright, plump, dewy complexions. And for that, our complexions are grateful. “While there are differences throughout the two different regimens—for example, the double cleansing method Korean women use—the biggest difference happens in the steps between toner and moisturizer,” Yoon says. “And then the next day you might add a radiance-boosting serum on top of that because your skin looks and feels dull.” With that belief in mind, Korean women literally view these products as food for the skin, nourishing and rejuvenating their complexions from the inside out. What if you aren’t satisfied with just that and want a refined skin texture—the kind of translucent, delicate skin that small children have before age weathers and leathers the skin? And this is exactly the reason why a Korean woman will double-down on these steps—she’ll walk through a store with rows and rows of beautifully packaged bottles that promise to meet her a la carte skincare needs and deliver results. “They go deep in the skin, include active ingredients, and are used before moisturizers.” Having said that, she does explain their differences: essences are more watery, lightweight versions of serums, ampoules are intense, concentrated versions of serums, and face oils are lipids that can be used alone or together with the medley of serums, essences and ampoules. The general rule of thumb that Korean women go by is applying products in the order of consistency. “The more viscous a product, the later it goes on.” That said, she also says that many of these products, like face oils and serums, can even be mixed together in your hand and applied together for a smoother application. “We do lengthy focus group tests, interviews with the brands’ R&D teams, and constant mining of reviews and formulations so that we can fully stand behind the products we picked for various skincare needs—here are some of our favorites!”
The 10-Step Korean Skincare Routine. Step 1: The Eye Makeup Removal. Step 2: The Cleanse. Step 3: The Exfoliator. Step 4: The Refresher. It soothes and preps your skin to absorb the next step—the essence. Step 5: The Essence. Step 6: The Ampoule. Step 7: The Sheet Mask. Step 8: The Eye Cream. Step 9: The Moisturizer. Step 10: The Night Cream.
Here are the steps for a typical Korean skin care routine: Most people think toners are useless/overkill/drying to the skin, but if you pick the right toner for your skin type, it will be well worth your money. While many Western toners are designed to simply balance your skin's p H levels, many Asian toners aim to do that AND hydrate the skin with nutrients. I like to think that this is THE product to use when you're unhappy or unsatisfied with your skin in someway. Okay, so emulsion may not be for everyone, so depending on the season and/or your skin type, you may or may not need to use am emulsion. If you have oily skin, you may not need to use emulsions in your daily skin care routine. That way, your skin can heal while you sleep (which is, by the way, super important to your skincare routine!), and you wake up with beautiful, radiant skin :) You would use the exfoliator or peel after your gentle cleanser and before your toner. Sheet masks are great for any skin types, and should be used depending on your skin type. Depending on the season, the condition of your skin, etc., you may want to use sheet masks 1-3 times a week.

Cleansing Oil: Nature Republic Chamomile Cleansing Oil ( available here ) Now, I am not usually one for smearing oil on my face, but Korea has shown me the light. Many Korean women use cleansing oil to remove their makeup at the end of the day, and it really does work well as a gentle cleanser. Cleansing oil operates on the premise that like removes like, and using oil will actually remove oil without removing too much… Basically, you don’t want to dry out your skin too much and get that tight, sore feeling, because that will just lead to your face overproducing sebum (oil) like it’s going out of fashion. Nature Republic’s Chamomile Cleansing Oil.

If you use other products , you will have grease all over your face cuz the moisturing materials can not be absorbed into your pores cuz they are bigger than your pores. This is the best product in the world. This set is great- The price might seem a little steep, but you really get a lot of product. All the products absorb pretty fast, and with each layer, my skin gets silkier and silkier. I have very dry skin around my chin and cheeks to the point where I get red blotches, and the products help calm and moisturize. I use the regimen at night with more of the heavy cream than I would during the day, and I wake up with radiant skin in the morning.

That is the reason why we go so excited about skincare and cosmetic companies come up with new concept and ingredients containing skin care products. However, for this posting, let me just take a focus on serum, essence and the booster since they are the most frequently confused items of all skincare products . This one is focused on my nighttime skincare routine, using all Korean skincare products, and following the typical Korean skincare routine. It’s wintertime now, so my skincare routine is focused on getting the most amount of moisture into my skin as possible. I use one pump and massage it into my slightly damp skin. I use this one when I feel like my skin is extra dry or dull, as it’s a very moisturizing toner. If it’s around that time of the month, or I feel like my skin might be having some issues, I use the AC Care Water Essence, which I reviewed here . Before Winter really hit, I was using the AC Care Bee’s Cure Serum and the Repair Complex as my serum and emulsion, but I found that my skin didn’t feel moisturized enough (winter is rough), so I switched to the Missha Super Aqua Marine Cell Intensive Serum and Control Emulsion. I pump the serum into my hands, rub them together and gently pat it on my face. My nighttime routine is when I pile on the moisture, so that’s why I use both a cream and sometimes a sleeping pack. I use the Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Cream, which was totally an impulse buy after the sales woman tested a bit on my hand and I sort of melted. It’s perfect for people with dry skin, or for people who want a little moisture boost in the winter. I like this cream so much I actually use it in the daytime too. After applying my cream, I will sometimes opt to add just that extra layer of moisture and use my Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Deep Moisture Sleeping Pack. And I know some people may think that my skin must look like an oil spill by the time I go to bed, but nope. That’s the beauty of Korean products, they all seem to magically absorb into my skin, instead of just sitting on top of it.
