GreatObsessions : Korean Skincare

As far as I know, Korean people takes really good care to their skin and follow their skincare routine religiously. Now that is only the basics. Sometimes they will do sheet masks or wash off packs before applying the skincare. As far as applying the product, I heard from a You Tube guru that the Korean actresses won't even touch their own face when applying the product because the bacteria will cause the skin to breakout. The You Tube guru said that the actresses will combine all the skincare into a spray bottle and just spray it onto their skin. I have been using Korean Skincare ever since I started to take care of my skin. Now, the only Korean skincare that is available where I live is The Face Shop. So I started out using The Face Shop products. But in general, Korean Skincare and following all these steps have really saved my skin. I use to have really dull and dry skin. But now, my skin feels really soft and it have brightened up. -The Face Shop Pomegranate and Collagen Volume Lifting Eye Cream (Nothing special. Gentle on the skin and you only need a little to make it lather up) more...

In Asia, Men's Skin Care Takes Off

The routine isn't cheap: He spends about 3,000 Hong Kong dollars (US$387) a month on skin care and cosmetics. Shum and a growing number of men like him are making Asia one of the fastest growing markets for men's skin care. China, including Hong Kong, is the largest market for men's skin care, at $974.8 million, an amount that's forecast to grow to $1.2 billion this year. But men's skin-care products are growing at a much faster pace, 9.4% compared with 4.8% for women's skin care. The most enthusiastic adoption, by far, is in South Korea, where male celebrities, like singer and actor Rain, have long endorsed skin care in billboards and television ads, paving the way for broader acceptance. Some retail experts attribute Asian men's relative affinity for skin care to simply following the lead of the women around them. The executive added the men's beauty market in China is growing two to three times faster than the overall global beauty market for men. Some brands say more work still needs to be done to make men's skin care seem less feminine—especially at the department stores and drugstores where it's generally sold. He says he became interested in men's skin care at the age of 17 after watching a male friend demonstrate his own routine. "Before our generation, men hated skin care and didn't want to do it," he says. more...

Little Chloe : Review of skincare product form Korea

But this product is very fun because you can feel the bubble popping on your face. The function of this product is to clean your pore. And then only i realize that there is a very thoughtful design which if you cant finish it, you actually can seal it into the slit provided. I am not sure if you can see the slit. You can stuff the cover into the slit like this.  Frankly, i dont like the smell of this product because it smells very artificial which means FOR ME it smells like it is chemical made product, not natural product . This is the must buy from banila co other than their primer. I am not sure you can see it cleary but i circle it up the little scoop provide to scoop the make up removal. I like the smells of this product. This product can be daily use . more...

Inside The Booming Korean Skincare Market - Fast Company

Inside The Booming Korean Skincare Market. Demanding consumers, R&D labs, and even the Korean government have helped bring foreign beauty products to Target and elsewhere. "Just sampling the products, I was like, ‘Wow, this is a whole new world,’" she says. The success of Korean beauty here is not intuitive. Park isn’t the first non-Asian to appreciate the wonders of Korean skincare. Since 2011, startups such as Momomango, Soko Glam, and Peach and Lily have launched to offer American consumers Asian beauty products from brands like Amorepacific, Aromatica, Be the Skin, Cremorlab, Dr. But interest in Korean skincare isn’t so much an American trend as the far-reaching ripples of a massive Korean beauty craze fed by competitive suppliers, a supportive government and, most of all, incredibly demanding consumers. Mass retailers say Korean beauty products were the next step in their quest to bring their customers the highest-quality products. The list goes on and on." Target, through a spokesperson, said it chose to exclusively sell 22 products from skincare brand Laneige after "comprehensive guest research" showed that "Korean skincare products are among the best in the world." Mary Schook, licensed aesthetician and owner of MS Apothecary , estimates this competitive atmosphere puts Korean beauty products 12 to 14 years ahead of the U. more...

Fair Face : Korean 5 Step Skincare Routine Explained

The first is taking better care of my skin. It seems clear that Investing in your skin works like an ISA, it will pay off in the long run if you start as soon as you can. Did you know that the average Korean woman uses 18 products per day on her skin! I'l break these products down for you so you can see for yourself what does what, and most importantly the correct process! This is the first stage of the process and one that we are all quite familar with. Once your skin is completley make up free you need to tighten the pores and remove all the dead cells and leftover residue from the cleanser. I have included these together and will explain the difference. The difference between the two is moisturisers have larger molecules, and serums / essences have smaller ones meaning they can penetrate the skin and work from the inside. The difference between an essence and a serum is the consistency.  I would recommend using essence as part of your morning routine, as it's easily absorbed into the skin and lighter than a serum. This step is great for the dry winter months as these products deliver deep hydration for skin. First you need to understand your skin type then the rest is trial and error! more...

Korean Skin - Care Trends That Should Be On Your Beauty

The average Korean woman has easily more than ten products in her daily skin-care routine, and the country's philosophy of good skin dates back to the Dongui Bogam, a Korean medical text from the 1600s. Green tea: This natural wonder has long been touted for its countless health and beauty benefits, and now Korean brand Amore Pacific has perfected the science behind cultivating and extracting the most powerful benefits of EGCG, an antioxidant only found in green tea. All of the EGCG comes from green tea grown in fields on the Korean island of Jeju, which has the optimal climate for the most potent tea leaves. Ginseng: Used in traditional Eastern medicine, ginseng has many health and beauty benefits and is only found naturally in a few places in the world; Korea's ginseng is prized the most. Airless pumps: Another skin-care innovation that has taken the Korean market by storm is airless dispensing pumps. What makes this sort of packaging so special is that it keeps the product from being contaminated and oxidized. more...

New Splash Masks Korean Skin Care - Marie Claire

Basically, these splash masks are unlike any mask you've tried before, mainly because they come in liquid form and take all of 15 to 30 seconds to use (meaning that I could have been on time to those parties). The masks are a blend of botanical extracts and lactic acid, which helps to re-texturize your skin. To use this mask, you mix about a capful of the stuff with a bowl of water, and then splash (as the name suggests) the mixture on your face for under half a minute, rinse, and boom—you're done. If you are mess-prone or just really not into adding extra dirty dishes to the ever-growing pile in your sink, you can also take the mask into your shower, pour a capful of product into your palms, and pat onto your face for 20 seconds or so. The video below shows just how to use the mask, with music, graphics, and all. Results included soft, radiant, and glow-y skin, and the masks have been selling out at glowrecipe.com . Blithe Splash Masks come in soothing and healing green tea, (energizing) yellow citrus and honey, and rejuvenating purple berry, with green tea as the fan favorite. more...

11 Korean Beauty Secrets You Should Definitely Know

Whether they’re born beautiful, or whether it is their beauty regime, we all cherish and idolize the radiant, acne-free, and flawless skin that Korean women possess. But what is the secret of their beautiful skin and can we get a flawless skin like them too? The main difference between the Korean skin care and the other skin care regimes is that Koreans are taught to take care of their skin right from childhood. They consider skin care as the ultimate investment and spend considerable time in taking care of it. A good skin care regime reduces the chances of unwanted blemishes and other skin problems and makes your skin radiant . Cleansing and exfoliating help remove the impurities from the skin and unclog the pores for a smooth and refreshed skin. Toning sets the skin after cleansing and exfoliating so that the skin absorbs the moisturizer well. They replenish and nourish the skin, and simultaneously, shrink the size of pores. This is what toners actually do – refresh the skin and set it for the next skin care regime. It helps to brighten the skin and preserve its elasticity. more...

Korean Skin Care Routine

Here are the steps for a typical Korean skin care routine: Most people think toners are useless/overkill/drying to the skin, but if you pick the right toner for your skin type, it will be well worth your money. While many Western toners are designed to simply balance your skin's p H levels, many Asian toners aim to do that AND hydrate the skin with nutrients. I like to think that this is THE product to use when you're unhappy or unsatisfied with your skin in someway. Okay, so emulsion may not be for everyone, so depending on the season and/or your skin type, you may or may not need to use am emulsion. If you have oily skin, you may not need to use emulsions in your daily skin care routine. That way, your skin can heal while you sleep (which is, by the way, super important to your skincare routine!), and you wake up with beautiful, radiant skin :) You would use the exfoliator or peel after your gentle cleanser and before your toner. Sheet masks are great for any skin types, and should be used depending on your skin type. Depending on the season, the condition of your skin, etc., you may want to use sheet masks 1-3 times a week. more...

My Updated Korean Skincare Routine - The Wanderlust Project

This one is focused on my nighttime skincare routine, using all Korean skincare products, and following the typical Korean skincare routine. It’s wintertime now, so my skincare routine is focused on getting the most amount of moisture into my skin as possible. I use one pump and massage it into my slightly damp skin. I use this one when I feel like my skin is extra dry or dull, as it’s a very moisturizing toner. If it’s around that time of the month, or I feel like my skin might be having some issues, I use the AC Care Water Essence, which I reviewed here . Before Winter really hit, I was using the AC Care Bee’s Cure Serum and the Repair Complex as my serum and emulsion, but I found that my skin didn’t feel moisturized enough (winter is rough), so I switched to the Missha Super Aqua Marine Cell Intensive Serum and Control Emulsion. I pump the serum into my hands, rub them together and gently pat it on my face. My nighttime routine is when I pile on the moisture, so that’s why I use both a cream and sometimes a sleeping pack. I use the Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Cream, which was totally an impulse buy after the sales woman tested a bit on my hand and I sort of melted. It’s perfect for people with dry skin, or for people who want a little moisture boost in the winter. I like this cream so much I actually use it in the daytime too. After applying my cream, I will sometimes opt to add just that extra layer of moisture and use my Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Deep Moisture Sleeping Pack. And I know some people may think that my skin must look like an oil spill by the time I go to bed, but nope. That’s the beauty of Korean products, they all seem to magically absorb into my skin, instead of just sitting on top of it. more...

Korean skincare products - Serum, Essence, Booster

What is the difference between Essence and Serum? When you ask which part that Korean woman take most time and concern for beauty, I would definitely say the Korean skincare  products. That is the reason why we go so excited about skincare and cosmetic companies come up with new concept and ingredients containing skin care products. However, for this posting, let me just take a focus on serum, essence and the booster since they are the most frequently confused items of all skincare products . Why don’t we take a look at the texture of essence? Many people get confused with the idea of serum and essence. As can be seen from the texture, it is in between essence and lotion. You can maximize the effect by using it with rich moist soothing cream   from Klairs as well. In order to maximize the effect of further skincare product, booster works great. The Secret Anti - Aging Cream Women Use in Asia - - The Cut

They’re developed and produced in South Korea, the hotbed of high-tech skin care breakthroughs (where would America be without BB creams?). In particular, Amarté Wonder Cream has 1.0 percent stable, nano-encapsulated retinol (the same strength found in Skin Ceuticals Retinol 1.0), and their Eye Conic Eye Cream contains 3.8 percent — almost double the concentration of Dr. There, women buy the high-powered retinol eye cream in bulk and slather it all over their faces. American dermatologist Craig Kraffert discovered the brand through his Korean wife, then consulted on the development of its formulations, and has now brought them to the States (it’s currently available online at Amartecosmetics.com ) with the same high percentage of retinol intact. Retinol — a milder form of vitamin A that’s available over-the-counter — is considered an inactive compound (it’s inert until it converts into active retinoic acid by a chemical reaction inside the skin) and therefore not regulated by the FDA. This is why cosmetic companies don’t always disclose the percentage of retinol in their products — unless they have a whopping amount to boast about, and thereby charge extra for. “There’s no legal limit on the amount of retinol that can be used in topical products,” says cosmetic chemist Jim Hammer, “however, high levels of retinol can produce dryness, peeling, and irritation.” If you’re new to using retinoids, even OTC ones, start slow to be on the safe side. Amarté adds anti-inflammatories — including allantoin and (an odor-free) sulfur — as well as moisturizing glycerin and argan oil to offset potential irritation and peeling from the high doses of retinol. more...

3 Korean Beauty Trends I'm Dying to Try : Beauty Blog

While gradient lips can be kind of complicated, involving concealer to hide the edges of the lips and a very specific application of several shades of color, “most girls don’t go that far,” Cho tells me. Instead, they’ll apply the color directly to the inner part of the lips, and then blend out, so it gradually gets lighter toward the edges, like you just ate a hot pink popsicle. Puppy eyes: “Korean-style makeup always has to do with looking youthful and fresh,” says Cho, hence “puppy eyes,” which are the cuter, sweeter version of cat-eyes. Instead of winging the liner up as you would for the feline version, draw it down from the top lid and over from the bottom, creating a little triangle at the lower outside corner of your eye. Cho credits Hyuna, Korean pop star and costar of the “Gangnam Style” video, as the progenitor of the look. “People think it makes your eyes look brighter and more youthful." While some people are actually getting surgery to get the look (check out our September issue for more on that!), the easiest way to get your own more low-key, temporary version is with a little contouring. “I think it’s really cool that a lot of creative things are coming from Asia because for most of history, all of the influences were Western to Asia and not the other way around,” says Cho, “I see that shifting in so many ways, and I think it’s really cool.” My puppy eyes and I would have to agree. more...

Korean Beauty Tip : 5 Step Skin Care Routine - K

Korean and Japanese women are known to follow a 5-step skin routine. Thoroughly cleanse your skin with makeup remover and cleanser before going to sleep. Facial massage is the secret to glowing skin. Apply a massage pack or cream and massage your face. It is exercise for your skin. Facial massages also stimulates the flow of oxygen and nutrients to improve the elasticity of your skin. Your skin will look visibly fresher, younger and glows after a massage. On the days you do not indulge in a facial massage, apply a mask on your face. Choose a toner that is suitable for your skin type. Essence is easier absorbed and penetrates deep into your skin, better than regular moisturizers. 5 Fascinating Trends in Korean Skin Care - Skin and Tonics

There was a time when the harvesting of these birds nests from their natural caves was ecologically devastating, but the days of cave harvesting are over. I was able to find research backing the skincare benefit claims of some of the individual components of a bird’s nest, but could find no research in English that studied the bird’s nest as a whole in terms of skincare benefits. But if the skincare benefits are as real as they seem, I certainly don’t want to miss out. Bee venom has been used for years to treat arthritis, back pain, and rheumatism, but as a skincare ingredient, it’s still a newcomer. The idea is that the skin benefits from it because of a compound contained in the venom called “melitten.”  Melitten contains anti-inflammatory properties that are said to be stronger than hydrocortisone. I was unable to find a completed study specifically regarding the effects of bee venom in skincare. No doubt you’ve seen American products advertising stem cell technology, but the difference is that the stem cells in American products are plant derived. The skincare benefits of using these stem cells, sometimes called called RG 2, is increased cell regeneration and sun damage reversal. There have been many studies done on the efficacy of stem cell technology in skincare, and it looks as though the claims are true. Stem cell based skincare is huge in Korea, with many experts arguing that it’s the greatest innovation in skincare to date.  It has the potential to be huge here, but there is a lot of controversy over stem cell research and usage in this country. Most products featuring Syn-ake are serums, although there are some skincare lines that feature moisturizing creams and emulsions containing the compound. Like bee venom, Syn-ake is touted as a Botox alternative, but what sets it apart is that there have actually been studies done on its safety and efficacy. What I’ve learned from all this is that I apparently have no boundaries when it comes to skincare. more...

Korean Brand Skin Care Product Review : Zymogen Green Apple

Korean Brand Skin Care Product Review: Zymogen Green Apple AHA Series. Anyway, today’s blog post content is gonna be very different from the usual food and lifestyle posts cuz it’s my very first time doing a review on skin care products! Needless to say, I start with cleansing my face with the Zymogen Green Apple AHA Wash Foam ($25, 250ml). The natural AHA contained in an apple exfoliates the old dead skin cells gently to make the texture of the skin smooth and even. The consistency is gel-like and lathers easily on the face. The Zymogen Green Apple AHA Toner ($34, 105ml) contains organic acids from fermented Korean famous ‘Yesan Apple’ extracts which recover your skin’s soft and smooth texture soft through eliminating old skin cells and rough skin texture, while apple and licorice root extracts help pore control for oily and combination skin types. The toner leaves a light and fresh feeling on my face. Believe it or not but I have never ever included an emulsion in my skin care routine before prior to using the Zymogen Green Apple AHA Emulsion ($34, 105ml). The absorption is quick and upon application, my face feels moisturized instantly. I don’t have the habit of using face cream too because of my oily skin. However, the Zymogen Green Apple AHA Cream ($35, 50ml) is highly recommended for almost all skin types. As the Zymogen Green Apple AHA 10 Essence ($39, 30ml) contains a high concentration of over 10% of AHA, a patch test is highly recommended to determine if your skin is suitable for it. If you have noticed, I did not really describe the effects that each of the above five products have on my face individually because I used all of them together and it would be difficult to pinpoint which product did what. All I can say is that, on the overall, I am very happy with the results derived from using Zymogen Green Apple AHA products because my face is visibily more radiant and skin tone is more even after just one week. more...

Asian Skin Care Guide : The Korean Skin Care Routine

There are a ton of whitening products in the Korean and Japanese skincare markets, and many of the multi-functioning products tout whitening properties as one of the major attributes. The nice thing about this layering technique is that you are not obligated to use Asian skincare products to do it. There are a lot of online shops as well as Amazon and Ebay sellers that carry Korean & Japanese skincare products. This is a list of online stores and sellers that I know carry authentic products from Korean and Japanese skincare brands.
