11 Korean Beauty Secrets You Should Definitely Know

Whether they’re born beautiful, or whether it is their beauty regime, we all cherish and idolize the radiant, acne-free, and flawless skin that Korean women possess. But what is the secret of their beautiful skin and can we get a flawless skin like them too? The main difference between the Korean skin care and the other skin care regimes is that Koreans are taught to take care of their skin right from childhood. They consider skin care as the ultimate investment and spend considerable time in taking care of it. A good skin care regime reduces the chances of unwanted blemishes and other skin problems and makes your skin radiant . Cleansing and exfoliating help remove the impurities from the skin and unclog the pores for a smooth and refreshed skin. Toning sets the skin after cleansing and exfoliating so that the skin absorbs the moisturizer well. They replenish and nourish the skin, and simultaneously, shrink the size of pores. This is what toners actually do – refresh the skin and set it for the next skin care regime. It helps to brighten the skin and preserve its elasticity. more...

Guide to the Korean Skin Care Routine - Coffee. Beauty

Guide to the Korean Skin Care Routine. I’ve put together this starter guide to give people an introduction to the Asian skin care routine, and provide some resources for getting started with your own regimen. Not the case in Korea and Japan, where women prefer to spend their money on skin care products. There are a ton of whitening products in the Korean and Japanese skin care markets, and many of the multi-functioning products tout whitening properties as one of the major attributes. However, there are some products that aim to actually lighten the skin, but the effects of the skin lightening are mostly temporary. Skin care actives such as snail mucin, bee venom, and Syn-ake – a synthetic compound that mimics the effects of viper venom on wrinkles, are commonly seen in Korean skin care products right now. Some of my baseline skin care routine is, in fact, comprised of Western products that I’m extremely pleased with. But the market for skin care in Asia is extremely competitive, and one of the benefits of that phenomenon is higher quality products, even at lower price points. Most of us are used to a 3-step skin care system that includes cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. Part 2: The Asian Skin Care Routine – Products & Layering. The nice thing about this layering technique is that you are not obligated to use Asian skin care products to do it. An Asian toner is designed to add moisture to the skin that might be stripped during the cleansing process, and to increase the penetration of additional skin care products. However, in many skin care lines, the toner and booster are the same product. Most sheet masks are meant to be applied after the toner/booster step, and for some people, they replace the essence/serum step. It’s designed to be applied over the face at night to provide moisture and skin care benefits while you sleep. more...

Why I Love Korean Skin - Care : One Vogue Editor on Where to

In terms of beauty, we were diametrically opposed: Where I existed in the easy, low-maintenance, zero-to-one-step French skin-care camp, my roommate followed a strict, traditional Korean regimen of as many as ten serums, lotions, patches, and creams. Our respective shelves in the bathroom cabinet looked like two different planets—it was the first time I had ever looked at a shelf of beauty products and thought to myself, “What is all of this stuff?” The more I use the accessibly priced and adorably packaged K-beauty products, I realize that if skin care is considered a luxury in America, in Korea it’s a right, and they make it fun, which is why everyone is doing it. I’ve built an arsenal of facial mists, oils (both for cleansing and for moisturizing), face masks, sponges, serums, lotions, and masks for day, night, and a longer, more nourishing routine on the weekends. The trick, for me, has been figuring out which ingredients work best for my skin, and then finding the best products that contain those ingredients. One of the best parts about the surge in the popularity of Korean beauty is that now these products are so accessible: If you don’t want to place orders from stores halfway around the world and wait weeks for things to arrive, it’s as easy as getting on the New York City subway. If you’re going to embark on your own Korean beauty shopping excursion, and I recommend that you do, I can tell you that the best part about these stores are the people who work in them: expert women who will speak to you openly and enthusiastically about their skin-care routines. more...

Asian Skin Care Guide : The Korean Skin Care Routine

There are a ton of whitening products in the Korean and Japanese skincare markets, and many of the multi-functioning products tout whitening properties as one of the major attributes. Inside The Booming Korean Skincare Market - Fast Company

Inside The Booming Korean Skincare Market. Demanding consumers, R&D labs, and even the Korean government have helped bring foreign beauty products to Target and elsewhere. "Just sampling the products, I was like, ‘Wow, this is a whole new world,’" she says. The success of Korean beauty here is not intuitive. Park isn’t the first non-Asian to appreciate the wonders of Korean skincare. Since 2011, startups such as Momomango, Soko Glam, and Peach and Lily have launched to offer American consumers Asian beauty products from brands like Amorepacific, Aromatica, Be the Skin, Cremorlab, Dr. But interest in Korean skincare isn’t so much an American trend as the far-reaching ripples of a massive Korean beauty craze fed by competitive suppliers, a supportive government and, most of all, incredibly demanding consumers. Mass retailers say Korean beauty products were the next step in their quest to bring their customers the highest-quality products. The list goes on and on." Target, through a spokesperson, said it chose to exclusively sell 22 products from skincare brand Laneige after "comprehensive guest research" showed that "Korean skincare products are among the best in the world." New Splash Masks Korean Skin Care - Marie Claire

Basically, these splash masks are unlike any mask you've tried before, mainly because they come in liquid form and take all of 15 to 30 seconds to use (meaning that I could have been on time to those parties). The masks are a blend of botanical extracts and lactic acid, which helps to re-texturize your skin. To use this mask, you mix about a capful of the stuff with a bowl of water, and then splash (as the name suggests) the mixture on your face for under half a minute, rinse, and boom—you're done. If you are mess-prone or just really not into adding extra dirty dishes to the ever-growing pile in your sink, you can also take the mask into your shower, pour a capful of product into your palms, and pat onto your face for 20 seconds or so. The video below shows just how to use the mask, with music, graphics, and all. Results included soft, radiant, and glow-y skin, and the masks have been selling out at glowrecipe.com . Blithe Splash Masks come in soothing and healing green tea, (energizing) yellow citrus and honey, and rejuvenating purple berry, with green tea as the fan favorite. more...

Korean Skin Care Lines Added to Retail Giants' Shelves

From the usage of ingredients such as snail secretions, wine, chia seeds, and starfish in their skin care brands to their sought after BB creams, Korean skin care products and regimens are beginning to make their mark, or more appropriately, helping to prevent the appearance of and conceal the marks, on North American consumers. South Koreans are known the world over for taking their skin care very seriously, and while the phenomenon of Korean produced BB creams (all-in-one beauty balms) have gotten the attention of skin-care manufacturers, retail outlets, and beauticians around the globe, it hasn’t been until recently that the general North American public have been offered the opportunity to make use of the regimens and products that the Korean market offers. Omona Journal noted the fact that the skin care regimens which originate in Korea are not entirely a trend, “[I]nterest in Korean skincare isn’t so much an American trend as the far-reaching ripples of a massive Korean beauty craze fed by competitive suppliers, a supportive government and, most of all, incredibly demanding consumers.” Katie Becker of W Magazine noted the apparent phenomenon that is Korean skin care earlier this year, and highlighted the fact that the market for these products is so competitive that there are ongoing message boards across Korea on which reviews of newly released products are posted “where reviewers can make or break a product overnight.” Are Korean products actually otherworldly in comparison to the products that North Americans are accustomed? The one obvious difference noticed when comparing North American skin care products to those of Korea is that American products focus heavily on covering up imperfections and blemishes, whereas the majority of Korean brands and regimens are intended as preventative measures. How to have great skin is not a secret, and lastly, there are good and bad products from brands in all corners of the world.” There are products all over the world that work for various individuals. Are South Korean products the Holy Grail of skin care? more...

Online Shopping for Korean cosmetics and skin care

I get emails asking what sites are the best for purchasing Korean BB creams, lenses, masks, and other beauty related products. The shops I am listing today are for Korean skin care, bb creams or other make up. It’s more of a skin care shop, but they do have make up, and even men’s skin care. I do recommend this shop for skin care products. You can get FREE SHIPPING if you just buy a product from the free shipping zone. Just adding one of the products from the free shipping zone will get you free shipping for your entire order, even if it less than $70. They seem to have good CS and they have so many products! For shipping, they have a better “deal” on the most part for international shipping. For other countries like Norway, you pay the amount that they calculate for weight. Gmarket handles all the money and the international shipping. Then the shops send the products to the Gmarket warehouse, then Gmarket puts together all the items and send it to you. I have purchased from Gmarket, be aware the shipping costs are a bit expensive. The best part of this shop is that they have free shipping. They do have some Skinfood and Etude House, and other brands products. more...

Korean Skin - Care Trends That Should Be On Your Beauty

The average Korean woman has easily more than ten products in her daily skin-care routine, and the country's philosophy of good skin dates back to the Dongui Bogam, a Korean medical text from the 1600s. Green tea: This natural wonder has long been touted for its countless health and beauty benefits, and now Korean brand Amore Pacific has perfected the science behind cultivating and extracting the most powerful benefits of EGCG, an antioxidant only found in green tea. All of the EGCG comes from green tea grown in fields on the Korean island of Jeju, which has the optimal climate for the most potent tea leaves. Create Your Own Korean Skincare Routine - The Wanderlust

Then you have the extra stuff: the sheet masks and spot treatments and sleeping packs and all sorts of things. What are the must have essentials that you need? I’m here to help you create your own Korean skincare routine. First things first, keep in mind that you don’t necessarily have to use Korean skincare products in a Korean skincare routine. If you have a ton of stuff from Sephora, you can use that. Second, analyze what type of skin you have. All of these things will effect the type of products you use. One of my favorite things about Korean cosmetics is that each brand has multiple skin care lines, so if you have acne prone skin, you can head to Etude and pick up the AC Clinic line, or if you like Innisfree you can pick up the entire Jejubija line. You know you need to wash your face, use a toner, and a moisturizer. You don’t have to spend a hundreds dollars at first. Introduce new products into your routine slowly and carefully, and before you know it, you’ll have no where to put all of your Korean goodies! Cleanser A cleanser is possibly the most important thing you can buy, so make sure to buy a quality one that won’t dry out your skin. If you wear makeup, you also need to get an oil cleanser, as a good oil cleanser will break up all the makeup and dirt from your day. more...
