Korean Skin Care Routine Before And After

11 Korean Beauty Secrets You Should Definitely Know

Whether they’re born beautiful, or whether it is their beauty regime, we all cherish and idolize the radiant, acne-free, and flawless skin that Korean women possess. But what is the secret of their beautiful skin and can we get a flawless skin like them too? The main difference between the Korean skin care and the other skin care regimes is that Koreans are taught to take care of their skin right from childhood. They consider skin care as the ultimate investment and spend considerable time in taking care of it. A good skin care regime reduces the chances of unwanted blemishes and other skin problems and makes your skin radiant . Cleansing and exfoliating help remove the impurities from the skin and unclog the pores for a smooth and refreshed skin. Toning sets the skin after cleansing and exfoliating so that the skin absorbs the moisturizer well. They replenish and nourish the skin, and simultaneously, shrink the size of pores. This is what toners actually do – refresh the skin and set it for the next skin care regime. It helps to brighten the skin and preserve its elasticity. more...

That Famous Korean Skin Routine Might not Be So Great

Many of us are using non-soap cleansers (like Cetaphil) and gentle foaming cleansers that don’t have enough surfactants to lift dirt or makeup from the face. But, because residuals from oils can block the absorption of serums and other active ingredients (applied later in your regimen) that are designed to penetrate deep into the skin, it’s important to wash your face again with a gentle cleanser, according to Dr. 3/9 SLIDES © Photo: Via Diptyque. Rogers worries that this may do more harm than good, as over-exfoliating can strip the skin of oils and trigger irritation during anti-aging steps that may follow (like the use of retinoids and antioxidants). 4/9 SLIDES © Photo: Via Darphin. But, if you use an anti-aging product later in your routine (a serum or retinoid, for example), she says, you don’t need an anti-aging toner, too — applying twice the amount of anti-aging ingredients doesn’t mean your skin will absorb more. 5/9 SLIDES © Photo: Via Skin Ceuticals. Photo: Via Skin Ceuticals. “Ultimately, essences, serums, and ampoules do the same thing, which is to deliver higher concentrations of active ingredients (usually anti-aging ingredients) to the skin,” says Jessica Wu, MD, a dermatologist and author of Feed Your Face. 7/9 SLIDES © Photo: Via Cowshed. With this in mind, it becomes more impactful to get your anti-aging actives from a serum than from a layer — or three — of heavy creams and moisturizers, as “the third or fourth product is not likely to reach your skin,” says Dr. Wu.“I like my face cream to be really bland and simply serve as a barrier to protect the skin," says Dr. "Because, if you have a good anti-aging step, then you don’t need the expensive cream that also has antioxidants in it — it’s harder to get those active ingredients from the creams down to the skin."In the interest of paring down, can you use the same moisturizer during the day and at night? Step 12: Eye Cream Do you really need a separate cream for the skin around the eyes? While this skin is thinner and more sensitive than on other parts of the face, not everyone needs to use a dedicated eye cream, says Dr. more...

Korean Skin Care Routine

Here are the steps for a typical Korean skin care routine: Most people think toners are useless/overkill/drying to the skin, but if you pick the right toner for your skin type, it will be well worth your money. While many Western toners are designed to simply balance your skin's p H levels, many Asian toners aim to do that AND hydrate the skin with nutrients. I like to think that this is THE product to use when you're unhappy or unsatisfied with your skin in someway. Okay, so emulsion may not be for everyone, so depending on the season and/or your skin type, you may or may not need to use am emulsion. If you have oily skin, you may not need to use emulsions in your daily skin care routine. That way, your skin can heal while you sleep (which is, by the way, super important to your skincare routine!), and you wake up with beautiful, radiant skin :) You would use the exfoliator or peel after your gentle cleanser and before your toner. Sheet masks are great for any skin types, and should be used depending on your skin type. Depending on the season, the condition of your skin, etc., you may want to use sheet masks 1-3 times a week. more...

The Korean Skincare Routine and Steps - The Budget Beauty

The Korean Skincare Routine and Steps. Over the past few months, I've been receiving emails from readers wondering about Korean skin care, such as the steps involved and what the best products are. Since then, I've been seeing a lot of articles in magazines talking about Korean skincare products and the multi-step routine that's popular in Asia. It's not just about the products (although there are some amazing ones out there), it's also about taking care of your skin and making it a priority. I'll be the first to admit that I barely had a routine for my skin.  My outlook has completely changed now that I'm taking the time to show my skin some love and it's looking healthier and younger, resulting in me having to wear less makeup. This is a guide that will introduce you to the world of Korean skincare and some of the products I've been using in my own routine. Korean Skincare products are very focused on quality ingredients and since the market is extremely competitive there, they have some very cutting-edge ingredients for a lot less than you'd find in Western skincare products.  I'm amazed at some of the serums and creams you can get from Korea that are packed with potent anti-agers or whiteners that are a fraction of the cost for the same thing in the U. The Routine. A lot of care is used to remove makeup and apply products gently to the skin, by either patting them in or using a light massaging motion.  Start by applying it to a dry face and massaging it into the skin to melt away the makeup. In the morning, just use a regular cleanser and skip the oil since your skin is pretty clean already from the night before. more...

The Best Morning Skin - Care Routine

While most of us know that, as a minimum, we should slap some SPF on our skin before heading out into the day, fewer of us are keyed into the idea that other airborne nanoparticles (like smog, cigarette smoke, soot, pollen, water droplets, and pollutants) contribute to aging skin. Skin care, SPF is only half the battle; we’ve got to clean our skin and arm it with antioxidants (then UV protection) to ensure we’re really ready to face the day. To figure out how to best protect our skin from good, old UV and the solid and liquid particles suspended in the air (many of which are generated during the combustion of fossil fuels), we spoke to Dr. Debra Jaliman , a New York-based dermatologist and author of Skin Rules , about the best way to handle our morning skin-care regimens. more...

This way, I’m able to more accurately observe what each new product is doing for my skin, and if I do have a reaction to something new, I’m able to pinpoint which product is the culprit. Please note that I’m only using one product for each category at any given time, with the exception of serums and p H dependent treatments. You can check out my post about the moisture barrier, acne, and skin sensitivity for more information about this topic. This is the most affordable of my top 5 cleansers, and has been a staple of mine for a very long time. Where to Buy: You can find this cleanser at Sephora.com , where it retails for $45. Where to Buy: You can find this toner on the Silk Naturals website , where it retails for $9. This one remains my favorite – it is extremely effective and has the shortest ingredient list (less potential for irritation or product reactions). Instead, you can use BHA with your morning routine and retinol in the evening. I do think this one is great for all skin types, and oily types will probably have better luck with this sunscreen than the UV Creamy Gel. Where to Buy: This sunscreen is available on Amazon for $23 , and is available for Prime shipping. more...

I am a Korean Skincare Routine Convert

I prefer to wear no makeup and do as little as possible to look presentable (this is now possible thanks to my skincare secrets revealed here ). Of course, as someone with sensitive skin, it makes finding the right products difficult and maybe that is why I have avoided/haven’t bothered with it for so long. Until recently, even I didn’t understand – and this was after I had bought the products. For the uninitiated, I think this is a good time to introduce the beast that is The Korean Skincare Regime! Cleansing oil. When I first got to this country, I had no idea what the hell was going on (in many ways), and the skincare industry spooked me. And this, friends, is what the Korean skincare routine and the. Cleansing Oil: Nature Republic Chamomile Cleansing Oil ( available here ) Now, I am not usually one for smearing oil on my face, but Korea has shown me the light. Many Korean women use cleansing oil to remove their makeup at the end of the day, and it really does work well as a gentle cleanser. Cleansing oil operates on the premise that like removes like, and using oil will actually remove oil without removing too much… Basically, you don’t want to dry out your skin too much and get that tight, sore feeling, because that will just lead to your face overproducing sebum (oil) like it’s going out of fashion. New Splash Masks Korean Skin Care - Marie Claire

Basically, these splash masks are unlike any mask you've tried before, mainly because they come in liquid form and take all of 15 to 30 seconds to use (meaning that I could have been on time to those parties). The masks are a blend of botanical extracts and lactic acid, which helps to re-texturize your skin. To use this mask, you mix about a capful of the stuff with a bowl of water, and then splash (as the name suggests) the mixture on your face for under half a minute, rinse, and boom—you're done. If you are mess-prone or just really not into adding extra dirty dishes to the ever-growing pile in your sink, you can also take the mask into your shower, pour a capful of product into your palms, and pat onto your face for 20 seconds or so. The video below shows just how to use the mask, with music, graphics, and all. Results included soft, radiant, and glow-y skin, and the masks have been selling out at glowrecipe.com . Blithe Splash Masks come in soothing and healing green tea, (energizing) yellow citrus and honey, and rejuvenating purple berry, with green tea as the fan favorite. more...

Skin care routine - Toner Essence Emulsion? What exactly are the functions of those skin care stuffs, ie toner, essence, emulsion etc. Best Answer:  Some websites say toner, essence, and then emulsion. But other websites say toner, emulsion, and then essence. I actually do toner, emulsion, essence, and cream. I reccommend waiting 5-10 minutes AFTER applying your essence before you apply any other moisturizer. If you have drier skin, use another moisturizer after all of this. The 5 - Step Asian Skincare Routine - Makeup For Life

Double cleansing is crucial in maintaining great skin because makeup can clog your pores and lead to breakouts. What I Use: DHC Deep Cleansing Oil and Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser. When you massage your skin, the temperature from your hands will help open up your pores and remove the dirt embedded within. Those with dry skin will benefit from hydrating sheet masks while those with oily skin should use a clay mask to draw out impurities and unclog pores. Gel and cream masks are for those with mature skin. Toners remove dead skin cells and residue from cleansers, replenish your skin with moisture after cleansing and make the absorption of any subsequently applied products easier and faster. When picking a toner, stay away from products with high levels of alcohol because it will only dry out your skin, causing your skin to secrete more sebum and making it oilier. It is a common misconception that people with oily skin do not have to use a moisturizer. If your skin is on the dry skin, go with a thicker cream. My 10 Step Korean Skin Care - Full Pampering Routine

I hate the idea of using makeup wipes or cotton pads to rub and drag your skin to remove dirt and makeup. This step remove your waterproof makeup and base makeup as well. This step is to remove all the dirt and residue that clogs your pores and anything that is left on after the oil makeup remover. After this, your skin should be very clean and fresh. A massage cream is easy to use, and it helps decrease the strength that you put on your face, so your hands won’t be dragging the skin, which is the thing to avoid when massaging. After wash out all the makeup, cleanser and massage cream, we start to put on the products that will stay on our face the rest of the time. Toner helps balance out your skin p H and I think this is a must step after cleansing your face. It is a product that improve the quality of your skin, keeping the moisture and elasticity. You want to keep the essence in the mask the rest of the time on your skin, and this is like a special treatment from 2 to 3 nights, not every nights. This is a special treatment for your skin. Whenever your skin feel tired, refreshing it by misting the thermal water to restore the hydration and healthy looking. This method works well for me, but I still prefer the simple skin care routine, but I really enjoy using essence and serum. Feels free to adjust the step to suit your skin the most! more...

The Cold Weather Korean Skincare Routine

There’s the Korean skincare routine …and then there’s the Korean skincare routine when the seasons are changing. I personally follow a strict, almost OCD-like 10 to 11-step regimen because my skin is sensitive and about as dry as the Sahara. For the second step, Amorepacific Treatment Cleansing Foam lathers up into a pleasantly soft foam and washes away any remaining residue. *Step 4: Tone. It’s the best feeling to sit in bed with a sheet mask and a good read. *Step 6: Essence. The Cremorlab Mineral Essence is a great multi-targeting essence with no fragrance (and the bonus of pristine packaging). Step 7 : *Eye Cream. It’s formulated with glacier water and various herbs that deeply hydrate the skin. The brand was originally created for cancer patients that suffer with skin deterioration and cell regeneration difficulties due to prolonged treatments. My skin is so flaky and never works well with regular foundations, but this particular cream has helped—you’ll be dewy without the extra layer of oil. *Step 10: Oil. I always use the Hera Cushion Compact in C 21 (which is super pale and fit for fairer skin tones) to hide blemishes and even out my complexion. more...

My Updated Korean Skincare Routine - The Wanderlust Project

This one is focused on my nighttime skincare routine, using all Korean skincare products, and following the typical Korean skincare routine. It’s wintertime now, so my skincare routine is focused on getting the most amount of moisture into my skin as possible. I use one pump and massage it into my slightly damp skin. I use this one when I feel like my skin is extra dry or dull, as it’s a very moisturizing toner. If it’s around that time of the month, or I feel like my skin might be having some issues, I use the AC Care Water Essence, which I reviewed here . Before Winter really hit, I was using the AC Care Bee’s Cure Serum and the Repair Complex as my serum and emulsion, but I found that my skin didn’t feel moisturized enough (winter is rough), so I switched to the Missha Super Aqua Marine Cell Intensive Serum and Control Emulsion. I pump the serum into my hands, rub them together and gently pat it on my face. My nighttime routine is when I pile on the moisture, so that’s why I use both a cream and sometimes a sleeping pack. I use the Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Cream, which was totally an impulse buy after the sales woman tested a bit on my hand and I sort of melted. It’s perfect for people with dry skin, or for people who want a little moisture boost in the winter. I like this cream so much I actually use it in the daytime too. After applying my cream, I will sometimes opt to add just that extra layer of moisture and use my Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Deep Moisture Sleeping Pack. And I know some people may think that my skin must look like an oil spill by the time I go to bed, but nope. That’s the beauty of Korean products, they all seem to magically absorb into my skin, instead of just sitting on top of it. more...

My Morning Skin Care Routine - The Wanderlust Project

I just realized that I’ve always detailed my nighttime skin care routine, but never my morning one. When I left Korea, it was still chilly, and I was still using a bulk of my winter skin care products, but as we know, Vietnam is insanely hot and humid every single day, so I decided to leave most of my winter things with a friend and focus on bringing lightweight, yet moisturizing products. I’ve been using a mix of high end and low end products, since I went a wee bit crazy at the department stores before I left Korea. I know that it wasn’t any of my products, since I was using the same stuff I used in Korea, but I was showering more often, up to 3 times a day. I’m not itchy anymore, but that also means I’ve had to make slight adjustments to my skincare routine, since I have noticed my face is a little dry after I wash it. And now, on to the routine. I’ve already raved about it, but know that it’s fucking amazing and actually the best cleanser in the history of the world. It’s incredibly soothing, and feels wonderful after I wash my face, since like I said earlier, the water is a bit drying here. It isn’t the most hydrating essence I’ve used, but I do like it because it’s just so hot here that by the time I do go outside, I’m a sweaty mess within minutes. It absorbs into the skin almost immediately, and doesn’t leave behind any stickiness or shine. The saleswoman swatched it on my arm and after feeling how lightweight it was, PLUS the fact that it absorbs ridiculously fast, PLUS the fact that it doesn’t leave behind a grey cast on the skin…I was sold. After my sunscreen has had time to absorb, I continue with the rest of my makeup routine, which I detailed a few days ago here . more...

HOW TO : The Korean 12 - Step Skin Care Regimen - The Beauty

HOW TO: The Korean 12-Step Skin Care Regimen. I believe one of the reasons why a lot of people are so into Korean stars (or anything Korean for that matter) right now is because they have enviable, petal- soft skin that's so otherworldly. Well, it's not really a secret-it's hydration, the core of Korean skin care regimens-this has just reinforced the fact that Hydration is the key to nicer, healthier- looking skin! To give you an idea, the most basic is the 10- step regimen which is comprised of 10 skin care products and the extreme one is the 14- step regimen, which is comprised of 14 skin care products-the skin care routine alone can last for 45 minutes to an hour! For dry skin, there's the oil cleanser, while for oily skin, there's the water cleanser. EXFOLIATION: To allow better absorption of the succeeding skin care products, it is important to exfoliate. Unlike toner that mattifies the skin, an essence keeps it moist and soft, which is very favorable for dry skin. TREATMENT 2: The next treatment I use is a regenerating serum, which mainly addresses dull, tired, and unhealthy- looking skin. MOISTURIZATION: A moisturizer is needed to seal the previous skin care products and prevent it from evaporating right before they enter the pores. SLEEPING PACK- For the final step, they use Sleeping Pack to prevent every single thing that they have put on their face from evaporating, not to mention this product delivers overnight hydration to the skin too. That's the Korean Skin Care Regimen for y'all! Also, if you're going to look at all the products I have used, they more or less deliver hydration, the key component in a Korean skin care routine so it doesn't matter if you're using various brands as long as the products suit your specific skin type and needs! So do you dig the Korean Skin Care Regimen? more...

Skin Care and A Routine

If you have to touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water - or alternatively, use a face towel. Determine your skin type and buy skin care products to suit your skin type. This is an incredibly important step because if you buy products that aren't appropriate for your skin, they will be incredibly ineffective, and may worsen the situation. Dry Skin-If your skin feels very tight and is noticeably flaky in areas, then you have dry skin. If your face is visibly shiny, and literally feels slightly wet to the touch then you have oily skin. If you have oily skin, you should tone, exfoliate, use a spot treatment, and lightly moisturize once in a while. If you have combination skin, you tend to get oily around your nose, chin, and forehead area, and dry around your cheeks. If you have sensitive skin, use a moisturizer, cleanser, and spot treatment all suitable for sensitive skin. Apply the cleanser and massage it into your skin in upwards, circular motions. By restoring your skin to its natural p H, you also make it more resistant against bacteria and micro-organisms. So after cleansing and toning you should moisturize with a face moisturizer for your skin type. If you haven't applied enough moisturizer and your skin still feels a little tight, then apply a bit more. Your skin needs to get used to the frequency of being treated, and to the products you're using. more...

Cleanse and refine your skin thoroughly to remove any dusts and cosmetics to leave your skin fresh and clean by the end of the day. Facial massage is the secret to glowing skin. Apply a massage pack or cream and massage your face. It is exercise for your skin. Facial massages also stimulate the flow of oxygen and nutrients to improve the elasticity of your skin. Your skin will look visibly fresher, younger and glows after a massage. A word of caution for those with acne or oily skin, massaging will agitate the oil glands and increase oil secretion. On the days you do not indulge in a facial massage, apply a mask on your face. Treat your skin with essence to increase the absorption level of skin and re-energize the skin cells. Essence should be used as part of your morning routine, as it's easily absorbed into the skin and lighter than a serum. Choose a moisturizer suitable for your skin and use it diligently. Apply skincare once it is warmed up in your hands, and press both palms onto your face to improve absorption of all the skincare layers. more...

Korean Skincare Routine

Patting is meant to help with absorption and let it penetrate deeper into the skin. I use this around 5 minutes after patting the essence in. It smells a bit muddy but you just smear this on and let it dry for around 5 minutes. This dries in a blink and is really good at pulling my impurities and blackheads to the skin surface. I use this after toning my face and I tone again after I remove it with water and a towel. I’d like to think it’s because the green clay mask loosens the oil in the blackhead and helps draw them to the skin surface, making it easier for this peel-off mask to attach to the blackheads and pull them off. This product is meant to ‘reach deep into the cornified layer of the skin to remove dead skin cells that clog pores,  support blackheads, thus eliminatnig and preventing formation of blackheads’. Which is pretty cool as it gives you the illusion that this product really works! I’ve used the gel version before but I decided to try this as it may be gentler for the skin. I really do like the scent of grapefruit so I got this along with the cream wash. I really liked the fact that this is an oil-free product cos in Asia, sweating is mandatory. I think this is a great lotion moisturiser and I don’t get oily until mid-day, but I blame the weather for that. I’ve just really been enjoying taking care of my skin and I think the difference does show! more...

Korean Skin Care Routine

When i first began watching Korean Dramas, I couldn’t help but notice that the Korean celebrities had the BEST skin I had ever seen. I looked at my face, immediately noticing I was no where close to the amazing skin they had. I decided that it was time to change my lifestyle, and I started the Korean routine in hopes of achieving that smooth skin. The one that i mainly used for my personal skin type (mostly oily at the time) was this video: I also get tired of using the same products for long periods of time, so I like to change it up a bit. It’s just a matter of finding the best products for your skin, and the ones you feel best using. The specific products I’m currently using are from the Shiseido Ibuki line, from Clarisonic, and from Clinique. I start with the Ibuki toner after washing my face with my Clarisonic (Mia 2) brush and clarisonic refreshing gel cleanser. Then, I dry my face, and apply the Shiseido toner using my hands because I personally don’t like using pads or cottonballs to apply the toner. I only apply that on the spot, and not my entire face. During the week when I have free time(or don’t feel lazy) i apply korean face masks (sheets). When I bought my Clarisonic brush, it also came with a clay mask, sometimes(once a week) I put that on before washing my face in the morning. I would also suggest using a face mist to apply when ever you feel you skin getting dry throughout the day. I dont exfoliate as much as in some videos because the clarisonic that i own, supposedly exfoliates the skin, but once a month i use the Skin Food black sugar mask or you can make a DIY version. Here's what happened when I tried a 12 - step Korean skin

The regimen is usually characterized as a 10-step process using some skin care products in categories that don't even exist in the U. In the morning, you are allowed to skip the oil-based cleanser and just use the foaming cleanser since your skin is already pretty clean from the night before. Toner: I'm a toner scoffer and I don't think I've used one since my Sea Breeze days, but it's an intrinsic part of the process. Product: Be the Skin Botanical Pore Toner , $25. Serums: "With serums it doesn't matter the order you put them on, but this is where the steps multiply and it starts getting crazy," Yoon said. I did this before the toner. You've done all that work twice a day, so in order to maintain that dewiness you've achieved and "re-activate" the products, you must mist periodically. RATING THE REGIMEN: After a few days of fumbling, this regimen, with the exceptions I noted, became pretty routine for me. I have been battling hormonal breakouts for a while, and when I embarked on this regimen, they were finally starting to be controlled - I was really concerned that all this product would exacerbate the issue. I should note that this particular regimen was very expensive, because the products were from fairly high-end brands. And I love the two-step cleansing system and toner. Did you know that the average Korean woman uses 18 products per day on her skin! I'l break these products down for you so you can see for yourself what does what, and most importantly the correct process! This is the first stage of the process and one that we are all quite familar with. I have included these together and will explain the difference. The difference between the two is moisturisers have larger molecules, and serums / essences have smaller ones meaning they can penetrate the skin and work from the inside. The difference between an essence and a serum is the consistency.  I would recommend using essence as part of your morning routine, as it's easily absorbed into the skin and lighter than a serum. This step is great for the dry winter months as these products deliver deep hydration for skin. First you need to understand your skin type then the rest is trial and error! more...
