I know some people attribute their clear skin to BB creams and its fantastic that they have found what works for them but there will be those few, like myself, who get cystic acne with BB Creams. Whether they’re born beautiful, or whether it is their beauty regime, we all cherish and idolize the radiant, acne-free, and flawless skin that Korean women possess. But what is the secret of their beautiful skin and can we get a flawless skin like them too? The main difference between the Korean skin care and the other skin care regimes is that Koreans are taught to take care of their skin right from childhood. They consider skin care as the ultimate investment and spend considerable time in taking care of it. A good skin care regime reduces the chances of unwanted blemishes and other skin problems and makes your skin radiant . Cleansing and exfoliating help remove the impurities from the skin and unclog the pores for a smooth and refreshed skin. Toning sets the skin after cleansing and exfoliating so that the skin absorbs the moisturizer well. They replenish and nourish the skin, and simultaneously, shrink the size of pores. This is what toners actually do – refresh the skin and set it for the next skin care regime. It helps to brighten the skin and preserve its elasticity.
There are a ton of whitening products in the Korean and Japanese skincare markets, and many of the multi-functioning products tout whitening properties as one of the major attributes. The nice thing about this layering technique is that you are not obligated to use Asian skincare products to do it. There are a lot of online shops as well as Amazon and Ebay sellers that carry Korean & Japanese skincare products. This is a list of online stores and sellers that I know carry authentic products from Korean and Japanese skincare brands. This one is focused on my nighttime skincare routine, using all Korean skincare products, and following the typical Korean skincare routine. It’s wintertime now, so my skincare routine is focused on getting the most amount of moisture into my skin as possible. I use one pump and massage it into my slightly damp skin. I use this one when I feel like my skin is extra dry or dull, as it’s a very moisturizing toner. If it’s around that time of the month, or I feel like my skin might be having some issues, I use the AC Care Water Essence, which I reviewed here . Before Winter really hit, I was using the AC Care Bee’s Cure Serum and the Repair Complex as my serum and emulsion, but I found that my skin didn’t feel moisturized enough (winter is rough), so I switched to the Missha Super Aqua Marine Cell Intensive Serum and Control Emulsion. I pump the serum into my hands, rub them together and gently pat it on my face. My nighttime routine is when I pile on the moisture, so that’s why I use both a cream and sometimes a sleeping pack. I use the Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Cream, which was totally an impulse buy after the sales woman tested a bit on my hand and I sort of melted. It’s perfect for people with dry skin, or for people who want a little moisture boost in the winter. I like this cream so much I actually use it in the daytime too. After applying my cream, I will sometimes opt to add just that extra layer of moisture and use my Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Deep Moisture Sleeping Pack. And I know some people may think that my skin must look like an oil spill by the time I go to bed, but nope. That’s the beauty of Korean products, they all seem to magically absorb into my skin, instead of just sitting on top of it.
The practice of exfoliating your skin is often skipped in a skin care routine. Everybody’s skin sensitivity is vastly different and the frequency of exfoliating depends heavily on this sensitivity. Once you’ve given into the routine of exfoliating, make way for glowing skin to reveal itself. To exfoliate your skin, start with once a week by using a very gentle soft grain exfoliating scrub for this process. Remember to closely examine your skin after exfoliating, if you are prone to redness and irritation mix the exfoliate scrub with a mild cream cleanser that will help dilute the scrub. Effective exfoliate skin care products from Innisfree Korea include the Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask which provides the effect of exfoliating dead skin cells, in addition to 5 other functions of tightening pores, removing sebum from oily skin, deep cleansing, enhances skin tone, and provides cooling effects. Prior, you can splash cold water on the face to help to close up those pores before commencing your skin care routine. The Laneige Multi Cleanser is a 4-in-1 cleanser with cleansing and exfoliating effects.

Basically, these splash masks are unlike any mask you've tried before, mainly because they come in liquid form and take all of 15 to 30 seconds to use (meaning that I could have been on time to those parties). The masks are a blend of botanical extracts and lactic acid, which helps to re-texturize your skin. To use this mask, you mix about a capful of the stuff with a bowl of water, and then splash (as the name suggests) the mixture on your face for under half a minute, rinse, and boom—you're done. If you are mess-prone or just really not into adding extra dirty dishes to the ever-growing pile in your sink, you can also take the mask into your shower, pour a capful of product into your palms, and pat onto your face for 20 seconds or so. The video below shows just how to use the mask, with music, graphics, and all. Results included soft, radiant, and glow-y skin, and the masks have been selling out at glowrecipe.com . Blithe Splash Masks come in soothing and healing green tea, (energizing) yellow citrus and honey, and rejuvenating purple berry, with green tea as the fan favorite.

The Korean beauty market is booming and, having charmed the rest of Asia, the country's beauty companies are now looking to raise their profiles in other regions. In the districts boutiques and department stores, shoppers are as likely to hear Chinese and Japanese spoken as Korean, for South Korea is today a shopping magnet for tourists across the region. South Koreas cosmetics market has been one of the bright spots of the economy in 2008-2009. South Korea and its top trade partner, China, are now leading Asia out of recession; in the first half of this year South Korea had the fastest GDP growth in the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development rich country zone) and its beauty sector is booming. Given the booming nature of the market and their strong market share, pundits are upbeat; Credit Suisse maintains an outperform rating for the two stocks. The remaining 31% of the market is made up of 600-700 small companies, though there are a few up and coming stars among them, such as The Face Shop franchise. In the early 1990s when international brands came in to Korea, everyone loved to buy them, but now the number one and two players are Korean; their products are proven, says an executive of an international brand in Seoul. This is the competitiveness of the Korean market. That said, the market is open to global producers; unlike, say, pharmaceuticals and autos which, foreign importers allege, are subject to numerous barriers. Skin care is the dominant category, particularly with regard to moisturising and whitening products. This trend is hot in the market right now and will get bigger in coming years. The majority of its products were priced around Won 7,000, and its packaging and natural ingredients won plaudits.

I started out with a Korean Traditional Anti-Aging facial – a luxurious and therapeutic session which involves the use of small hot stones to massage the face and stimulate cell metabolism. Although the hot stones were new to me, but what impressed me most throughout the 90 minutes session was the deft finger work of Han Myung Ok, who is Spa Scene’s beauty director with a wealth of experience running a successful facial salon in Korea and was even engaged by Korea’s parliamentary members for corporate functions. Instead, the hot stones were used to flush out toxins from the skin and rebalance the oils. Han also asked me if I wanted extraction of my blackheads and I noticed she was very very gentle and quick in the process. And by the end of the 90 minutes session, I felt wonderfully relaxed, refreshed and really wishing for the facial to be prolonged. The massage, which extended to my neck, shoulder, upper back and arms was the best I’ve ever experienced in a facial. My skin was also noticeably radiant and that radiance lasted me in the few days that followed. Besides the Korean Traditional Anti-Aging facial which is priced at S$188, customers who are not comfortable with the idea of having hot stones on their skin can try out Spa Scene’s Signature Anti-Aging Treatment which is at S$158 and also last for 90 minutes. Nicky was extremely thorough in the way he worked on my scalp and hair. And besides scalp treatments, the salon also offers hair cutting, perming and styling at quite an affordable rate beginning at S$55. Apart from their immaculate services, they also share skin and hair caring tips freely with their customers according to the skin conditions.
