Then you have the extra stuff: the sheet masks and spot treatments and sleeping packs and all sorts of things. What are the must have essentials that you need? I’m here to help you create your own Korean skincare routine. First things first, keep in mind that you don’t necessarily have to use Korean skincare products in a Korean skincare routine. If you have a ton of stuff from Sephora, you can use that. Second, analyze what type of skin you have. All of these things will effect the type of products you use. One of my favorite things about Korean cosmetics is that each brand has multiple skin care lines, so if you have acne prone skin, you can head to Etude and pick up the AC Clinic line, or if you like Innisfree you can pick up the entire Jejubija line. You know you need to wash your face, use a toner, and a moisturizer. You don’t have to spend a hundreds dollars at first. Introduce new products into your routine slowly and carefully, and before you know it, you’ll have no where to put all of your Korean goodies! Cleanser A cleanser is possibly the most important thing you can buy, so make sure to buy a quality one that won’t dry out your skin. If you wear makeup, you also need to get an oil cleanser, as a good oil cleanser will break up all the makeup and dirt from your day.
If you have to touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water - or alternatively, use a face towel. Determine your skin type and buy skin care products to suit your skin type. This is an incredibly important step because if you buy products that aren't appropriate for your skin, they will be incredibly ineffective, and may worsen the situation. Dry Skin-If your skin feels very tight and is noticeably flaky in areas, then you have dry skin. If your face is visibly shiny, and literally feels slightly wet to the touch then you have oily skin. If you have oily skin, you should tone, exfoliate, use a spot treatment, and lightly moisturize once in a while. If you have combination skin, you tend to get oily around your nose, chin, and forehead area, and dry around your cheeks. If you have sensitive skin, use a moisturizer, cleanser, and spot treatment all suitable for sensitive skin. Apply the cleanser and massage it into your skin in upwards, circular motions. By restoring your skin to its natural p H, you also make it more resistant against bacteria and micro-organisms. So after cleansing and toning you should moisturize with a face moisturizer for your skin type. If you haven't applied enough moisturizer and your skin still feels a little tight, then apply a bit more. Your skin needs to get used to the frequency of being treated, and to the products you're using.
The Super Easy Korean Skincare Routine (For Glowing Skin) Do you ever notice how Korean women have the most beautiful, porcelain skin? At night, use a cream that lets your skin breathe yet at the same time, locks moisture in the skin throughout the night, so you wake up looking fresh and beautiful. For my night time routine, I apply richer products because that is the time when your skin really absorbs the products. I’m so glad you enjoyed the post. Thank you for the suggestion. Have you tried the skincare routine yet? I would love to hear your thoughts on any of the products you tried! I truly love all the products I mentioned above and have continued to use them up to this day. I love love lovee the Korean skincare routine! I love this post and the products you used. I love the Amore Pacific Eye Cream and one of my favorite for a long time now. Also how can you not love the packaging? It’s great for acne and balancing the skin out.
This one is focused on my nighttime skincare routine, using all Korean skincare products, and following the typical Korean skincare routine. It’s wintertime now, so my skincare routine is focused on getting the most amount of moisture into my skin as possible. I use one pump and massage it into my slightly damp skin. I use this one when I feel like my skin is extra dry or dull, as it’s a very moisturizing toner. If it’s around that time of the month, or I feel like my skin might be having some issues, I use the AC Care Water Essence, which I reviewed here . Before Winter really hit, I was using the AC Care Bee’s Cure Serum and the Repair Complex as my serum and emulsion, but I found that my skin didn’t feel moisturized enough (winter is rough), so I switched to the Missha Super Aqua Marine Cell Intensive Serum and Control Emulsion. I pump the serum into my hands, rub them together and gently pat it on my face. My nighttime routine is when I pile on the moisture, so that’s why I use both a cream and sometimes a sleeping pack. I use the Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Cream, which was totally an impulse buy after the sales woman tested a bit on my hand and I sort of melted. It’s perfect for people with dry skin, or for people who want a little moisture boost in the winter. I like this cream so much I actually use it in the daytime too. After applying my cream, I will sometimes opt to add just that extra layer of moisture and use my Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Deep Moisture Sleeping Pack. And I know some people may think that my skin must look like an oil spill by the time I go to bed, but nope. That’s the beauty of Korean products, they all seem to magically absorb into my skin, instead of just sitting on top of it.
KOREAN SKINCARE ROUTINE 2015 FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN. Many had actually emailed me and asked me to recommend products for acne prone skin. Actually I am not in a position to tell what you should buy because I haven't get to try all the products in the world as well as my limited knowledge to what I had tried and what works for me. I am actually already in my late 20s so the type of skincare products I used are different from teenagers because adult skin can't take any harsh beating.
The average Korean woman has easily more than ten products in her daily skin-care routine, and the country's philosophy of good skin dates back to the Dongui Bogam, a Korean medical text from the 1600s. Green tea: This natural wonder has long been touted for its countless health and beauty benefits, and now Korean brand Amore Pacific has perfected the science behind cultivating and extracting the most powerful benefits of EGCG, an antioxidant only found in green tea. All of the EGCG comes from green tea grown in fields on the Korean island of Jeju, which has the optimal climate for the most potent tea leaves. Ginseng: Used in traditional Eastern medicine, ginseng has many health and beauty benefits and is only found naturally in a few places in the world; Korea's ginseng is prized the most. Airless pumps: Another skin-care innovation that has taken the Korean market by storm is airless dispensing pumps. What makes this sort of packaging so special is that it keeps the product from being contaminated and oxidized.

While considering whether to do this post now or later I thought to myself: put your makeup where your mouth is, miss “beauty blogger”, and show the world what you can do with your skin at its worst. You just have to be you and sometimes leave the house. The routine has three stages: night before skincare, morning skincare, and base makeup. I’m not even going to touch on the color makeup portion because it’s not directly related to troubled skin in quite the same way base makeup like foundation and concealer is. Just get your makeup on, T-Dogg and get your ass out of the house.” The Sensual Skin Enhancer from his eponymous makeup line is an amazing product that matches that legacy and vision. P 2 and P 6 are for people with pink undertones; I tested the pink and it’s WAY too pink for my skin. If the coverage from this cushion (or others, for that matter) is too much for you, just mist your cushion applicatior, dab it on your hand, and then apply the diluted formula to your face. I mean, this is a cushion meant for fall and winter and it’s made with Korean customers in mind, of course the look is going to be glowy. And yet the powder is necessary for setting the makeup and making sure that it has a good shot of lasting through the day.
Those ingredients can dry your skin out even more. It will make your skin look clearer and more even. They can remove extra oil, making your face less shiny, and Read More. They can remove extra oil, making your face less shiny, and help keep skin clean. If your skin is sensitive, wash it with a very gentle cleanser and rinse with warm water. If you have acne or your skin is oily, find a moisturizer that is lightweight and oil-free, so it doesn't block your pores. The sun can damage your skin in only 15 minutes. Sweat can clog your pores and make acne worse. But leaving makeup on your skin can clog your pores and cause acne. Using too much or using them too often can irritate your skin and cause more blemishes. With a fake tan, you still need to protect your skin from the sun. Don't pick at your skin - especially your pimples - or you can have permanent scars. Don't wear tight headbands or wool hats that can irritate your skin. It can age your skin and make it yellow and dry.
It’s ok, I’m at peace with it, and I’m just going to do my best from the outside working in. This means that my skin is thinner than that of folks from many other parts of the world and that I will end up looking like a crumpled paper bag in time if I skip sunscreen. In the course of treating my acne I need to make sure that I don’t overexfoliate my skin and that I use sunscreen every day. If my skin is feeling peely and stressed due to exfoliation in places, I’ll keep up with my routine, but only on the places that are tolerating it well. I swipe this all over and let it dry—it takes about 30 seconds to move on to the next step. I apply the first essence with a Purederm Micro Fiber pad to keep from applying too much product and to make sure that the application is even across my face. I swipe this all over and let it dry—it takes about one minute to move on to the next step. Two pumps cover my face and dry in about two minutes, leaving my skin not exactly sticky, but sort of thirsty for the next steps. I like to layer just about anything related to acne treatment and healing on in this step, one after the other, from lightest in thickness to heaviest. I always try to wear a moisturizer—my hope is that by the end of my routine my skin is balanced and happy, and still able to handle a light cream. My skin gets two rounds of exfoliation, once in the morning and once at night, so it’s essential that I protect all that new skin I’m exposing by applying sunscreen at the end of my morning routine.
Korean and Japanese women are known to follow a 5-step skin routine. Thoroughly cleanse your skin with makeup remover and cleanser before going to sleep. Facial massage is the secret to glowing skin. Apply a massage pack or cream and massage your face. It is exercise for your skin. Facial massages also stimulates the flow of oxygen and nutrients to improve the elasticity of your skin. Your skin will look visibly fresher, younger and glows after a massage. On the days you do not indulge in a facial massage, apply a mask on your face. Choose a toner that is suitable for your skin type. Essence is easier absorbed and penetrates deep into your skin, better than regular moisturizers. Choose a moisturizer suitable for your skin and use it diligently.

My Korean skincare routine for dry, acne-prone skin. My skin was softer, less dry, and less flaky. Not only does my skin feel rougher and flakier, but my pores, comedones, and blackheads get larger. Using these pads has helped refine my skin texture and keep my blackheads in check. It doesn’t seem to do much except make my skin somewhat softer, though still not as much as the horse oil serum did (which I will talk about in a second!) But for the sake of completion, this is the toner I am currently using. It hasn’t made my skin much softer since then, but that’s okay—for softness, let’s go to the next product! 5.) Guerisson 9-Complex Essence: for major skin softening! Within the first few days, my skin felt like velvet–yes, velvet! 6.) Guerisson 9-Complex Cream: for helping my dry skin in general (review here) This is the infamous horse oil cream that I love and will be ordering a second jar of very soon! My skin generates a bit of sebum on its own and I no longer feel dry throughout the day. Smoother and softer skin overall. Now, that’s not to say that my skin is perfect!

It soothes and preps your skin to absorb the next step—the essence. Step 5: The Essence. Step 6: The Ampoule. Step 7: The Sheet Mask. Step 8: The Eye Cream. Step 9: The Moisturizer. Step 10: The Night Cream.
So, as I mentioned in my previous Korean beauty posts, most of the products initially listed in my routine were great but not great enough for trouble/acne-prone skin. The rest in the photo below were freebies and samples, one of the advantages of buying products from w2beauty . The products include: ….and different samples of products from Benton, Sulawhasoo, Su:m, The Faceshop and Mizon. While i like w2beauty because of the reward system, sheet masks and samples, you can get these products at lesser prices on Amazon and Ebay but without guarantee of free sheet masks and samples.
Cleanse and refine your skin thoroughly to remove any dusts and cosmetics to leave your skin fresh and clean by the end of the day. Facial massage is the secret to glowing skin. Apply a massage pack or cream and massage your face. It is exercise for your skin. Facial massages also stimulate the flow of oxygen and nutrients to improve the elasticity of your skin. Your skin will look visibly fresher, younger and glows after a massage. A word of caution for those with acne or oily skin, massaging will agitate the oil glands and increase oil secretion. On the days you do not indulge in a facial massage, apply a mask on your face. Treat your skin with essence to increase the absorption level of skin and re-energize the skin cells. Essence should be used as part of your morning routine, as it's easily absorbed into the skin and lighter than a serum. Choose a moisturizer suitable for your skin and use it diligently. Apply skincare once it is warmed up in your hands, and press both palms onto your face to improve absorption of all the skincare layers.
Wonwoo Choi at Wells Dermatology and Medical Spa in Gangnam, Seoul, when I was in Korea for the summer. But after one consultation (followed by two months of relatively rigorous treatment), I learned that ridding yourself of acne without destroying your skin in the process takes work—serious work. Gently massage face with a serum that hydrates and nourishes the skin. A chilled calming mask is used to soothe the irritated skin. The coolness of the mask helps to calm irritated skin. A mask pack is used to tighten the pores and further calm the skin. The whole process is wrapped up with a Korean skincare routine . Choi is an artist, in addition to a really good dermatologist, several weeks of facials were followed with brightening laser treatments and UV treatments that serve to rid the skin of any acne scarring. Immediately after these laser treatments, a similar process as the one above is used to nourish the skin. The difference lies in the vitamin C—they have brightening and cell-regenerating benefits, but is not easily absorbed by the skin through simple serums or creams. But knowing how to handle it is the first step in actually caring for your skin.

There are a ton of whitening products in the Korean and Japanese skincare markets, and many of the multi-functioning products tout whitening properties as one of the major attributes. The nice thing about this layering technique is that you are not obligated to use Asian skincare products to do it. There are a lot of online shops as well as Amazon and Ebay sellers that carry Korean & Japanese skincare products. This is a list of online stores and sellers that I know carry authentic products from Korean and Japanese skincare brands. This softens, moisturizes, and preps your skin to better absorb the essences and serums to follow. This is meant to hydrate and protect the skin around the eyes. I think it boils down first and foremost to achieving healthy skin from the inside out. You take the first layer off with a gentle, gentle oil cleanser and get all the oil-based impurities off your face, then you follow up with very gentle, nourishing, non-stripping water-based foam cleanser to get all your water-based impurities off. On the trick to mixing and matching your products… Retinol and AHAs actually can be used together, as the ingredients will stay active, but can be a bit harsh on the skin. Be the Skin Non-Stimulus Face Polisher is the exfoliator that I was telling you about; your dead flakes and impurities just gently roll off the face. This heats up on the face and uses charcoal to draw toxins and impurities out. Slowly add products to your routine and see if the consistency and ingredients are beneficial to your skin. The fun is in the discovery of new skincare products and finding the ones that work best for you.” Massaging the skin when cleansing helps with circulation and leads to a brighter complexion. The state-of-the-art Korean skincare technologies (and there are several) really do lead the world. Koreans—especially women but men as well—view the care of skin as something to savor and enjoy. When it comes to daily skincare regimens, the ‘sense of urgency’ and compulsion to hurry and finish are typically absent.
I have oily/combination skin, as most Asians do, and where I come from the winter is very drying for my skin. A plus of this cleanser is that it is made without parabens, sulfates, and phthlates, so it is gentle on the skin. Tea is also known to soothe and calm the skin. This toner is really good for winter AND summer because it soothes redness and fights pimples without over-drying your skin. I would be cautious if you're someone with dry or sensitive skin, as the tea tree may be a bit too drying for dry skin and may be a bit strong for sensitive skin. The grapefruit water contains a lot of Vitamin C, which brightens your complexion and promotes collagen production, which is essential for youthful skin. Due to grapefruit's fruit acidity, this ingredient also has antibacterial properties, and is good for controlling oil production. I recommend this product for everyone and anyone. I think this stuff is a miracle-maker, and it has worked amazingly for me. This moisturizer is heavily endorsed by my K-idol, Bae Suzy, and is awesome for the hot and humid summer season. Vitamin B 3 is responsible for soothing the skin with its anti-inflammatory properties and zinc helps to control oil production. Personally, I think it is a bit heavy to use as a morning moisturizer in the summer because I have oily skin, but if you have dry skin or even normal skin, then this may work well for you. Some emulsions are more watery than this one, but I was between choosing this emulsion and the cream from the same IOPE line. Locust tree flower helps to soothe and calm inflammation of the skin. Tea tree leaf oil is one of the best natural remedies for acne, as it has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Our skin is one of the most important and incredible organs of our bodies. While it’s important to take care of the skin all over your body, it is particularly important to focus on your face especially when you have acne-prone skin. Every morning and night you should treat your skin right. And with the right products you’ll see brighter skin in no time. Proactiv+ has a 3-step system that will make it easy to clean and moisturize your skin, as well as take the guess work out of the proper order to apply your skin care . Having a daily skin care routine is important for everyone, but if you suffer from acne-prone, oily skin then regularly incorporating an exfoliant, spot treatment and moisturizer is especially invaluable. An exfoliant, like Proactiv+ Skin Smoothing Exfoliator, has little beads that buff your skin and clear away bacteria, oil build-up and other impurities that cause pimples and dulled skin. A spot treatment is the ninja of your skin care routine – it targets acne and keeps fighting deep into the pore where problems start. Using a moisturizer daily will hydrate your skin (even if you have oily skin you need hydration!) and halt acne in its tracks. In order to ease your jitters and get you on your way to clearer, acne-free skin, Proactiv+ is giving away its complete 3-step system to five lucky Michelle Phan.com readers. Comment below with why your skin needs help being healthy and clear.
I prefer to wear no makeup and do as little as possible to look presentable (this is now possible thanks to my skincare secrets revealed here ). Of course, as someone with sensitive skin, it makes finding the right products difficult and maybe that is why I have avoided/haven’t bothered with it for so long. Until recently, even I didn’t understand – and this was after I had bought the products. For the uninitiated, I think this is a good time to introduce the beast that is The Korean Skincare Regime! Cleansing oil. When I first got to this country, I had no idea what the hell was going on (in many ways), and the skincare industry spooked me. And this, friends, is what the Korean skincare routine and the. Cleansing Oil: Nature Republic Chamomile Cleansing Oil ( available here ) Now, I am not usually one for smearing oil on my face, but Korea has shown me the light. Many Korean women use cleansing oil to remove their makeup at the end of the day, and it really does work well as a gentle cleanser. Cleansing oil operates on the premise that like removes like, and using oil will actually remove oil without removing too much… Basically, you don’t want to dry out your skin too much and get that tight, sore feeling, because that will just lead to your face overproducing sebum (oil) like it’s going out of fashion. Nature Republic’s Chamomile Cleansing Oil.
The first is taking better care of my skin. It seems clear that Investing in your skin works like an ISA, it will pay off in the long run if you start as soon as you can. Did you know that the average Korean woman uses 18 products per day on her skin! I'l break these products down for you so you can see for yourself what does what, and most importantly the correct process! This is the first stage of the process and one that we are all quite familar with. Once your skin is completley make up free you need to tighten the pores and remove all the dead cells and leftover residue from the cleanser. I have included these together and will explain the difference. The difference between the two is moisturisers have larger molecules, and serums / essences have smaller ones meaning they can penetrate the skin and work from the inside. The difference between an essence and a serum is the consistency. I would recommend using essence as part of your morning routine, as it's easily absorbed into the skin and lighter than a serum. This step is great for the dry winter months as these products deliver deep hydration for skin. First you need to understand your skin type then the rest is trial and error!

Vitamin C serums are also a type of skin exfoliator and should be applied at this point in any skincare routine if the products is of a liquidy consistency. Korean sheet masks generally are skincare concern targeted treatments that provide either deep hydration or deep moisture into the skin. The oils used are very dependant on the individuals skincare needs and concerns. They are the final step in night time skincare and are designed to “seal” in all your skincare products. USD 14.90. Here are the steps for a typical Korean skin care routine: Most people think toners are useless/overkill/drying to the skin, but if you pick the right toner for your skin type, it will be well worth your money. While many Western toners are designed to simply balance your skin's p H levels, many Asian toners aim to do that AND hydrate the skin with nutrients. I like to think that this is THE product to use when you're unhappy or unsatisfied with your skin in someway. Okay, so emulsion may not be for everyone, so depending on the season and/or your skin type, you may or may not need to use am emulsion. If you have oily skin, you may not need to use emulsions in your daily skin care routine. That way, your skin can heal while you sleep (which is, by the way, super important to your skincare routine!), and you wake up with beautiful, radiant skin :) You would use the exfoliator or peel after your gentle cleanser and before your toner. Sheet masks are great for any skin types, and should be used depending on your skin type. Depending on the season, the condition of your skin, etc., you may want to use sheet masks 1-3 times a week.

On the legacy of Korean skin care… The state of the art Korean skincare technologies (and there are several) really do lead the world. In Asian skincare, toners condition the skin and prep it for the moisturizing sequence. Skin softeners are a staple product in the layering routine and a product that women will swear by. Asian toners can also have a brightening effect on the skin – it’s no wonder that even Western toners, especially from natural/organic lines, are starting to follow in this manner! You can also apply to skin directly using fingers and work it in that way. If your skin is feeling dull or you need an extra something in your routine, try using a sheet mask after the skin softener. How to use: Pat the essence all over the face, pressing firmly to ensure it’s absorbed into the skin. It sounds like a lot, but remember that because all the emphasis is on skin, the goal is to be able to wear less makeup and thus have less products on the face. With time and patience, you can master the routine that many Asian women prize, and be on your own way to luminous, dewy looking skin!
