Korean Beauty : 8 Must - Try Products

Many Koreans have flawless complexions–it’s no wonder, with the time and diversity of products they have available. No matter your ethnicity or skin tone, you can incorporate these products into your routine and target just about any issue imaginable. Skin Food Black Sugar Mask Wash Off – If a sheet mask isn’t your thing, try this black sugar mask with vitamins, glycolic acid and nourishing minerals. The mask’s texture will exfoliate your skin, sloughing off any oil or dead skin cells and tighten all over in just 10 minutes. Because you apply with a sponge, there is no getting carried away with too much product and the consistency won’t leave harsh lines or leave you with a cake finish. Innisfree Green Tea Mask - This mask is loaded with herbs and antioxidants to help revitalize your skin. This skin smoothing favorite can be applied multiple ways–all over, just on affected areas, alone or before moisturizer, and twice a day or only before bed. Tonymoly Kiss Kiss Lovely Lip Patch - This cute lip mask claims it will hydrate and smooth your pout with just one application. The product works without causing over-drying and irritation on every skin type. more...

What to buy from South Korea? Skincare

Knowing that the odds of winning is very low, we still buy it for that little ray of hope and anticipation to win something. So I guess when I buy beauty products, it’s the same rationale as I assume the products will make me look good. Because he had bought a whole load of The Face Shop’s masks from Myeong-dong (one of the most famous shopping streets in Seoul) for me but had everything (except freebies and product samples) returned and refunded the next day because The Face Shop counter at Lotte Mart was having a 50% off sale! And yes, for those of you who are into The Face Shop’s products, you may wish to know that The Face Shop counter at Lotte Mart does have regular sales and promotions. The only difference is, The Face Shop at Lotte Mart doesn’t give freebies (product samples) but the one at Myeong-dong does. Do keep in mind, if you’re buying in bulk, it’s not worth spending the money at Myeong-dong as product samples are cheap anyway and definitely not worth the value of that extra $! The packaging is exactly the same as the one you get from retail stores but when you start using the product on your skin, you’d notice the difference in quality. It’s still advisable to buy products only from authorised distributors and retailers! So grab the opportunity to shop and buy in bulk when you’re there for holiday or if someone you know is heading there (like how I ask my husband to help!). But it’s good that the husband is now more in tune with skincare products! more...

A Beginner's Guide to Korean Makeup - Into The Gloss

So, we asked Cho — who also runs the e-commerce site Soko Glam — to give us a rundown of her current favorite overseas products and a few predictions for the “next BB cream.” You heard it here first, people. They’ve dominated the skincare game for, like, centuries, but it wasn't until Koreans incepted, perfected, and popularized BB cream that cosmetics companies throughout the world have been hawk-eyeing their makeup innovations, too. Which is to say, if it’s big in Korea, you can bet that it’s going to be the next billion-dollar global product. The Liner. Nary an eye goes unlined in Korea, so our liner formulas need to pass the test of both the dreaded monsoon season and sub-zero Seoul winters. The Eyebrow Pencil. I prefer the sheer brown color and angled application of Design My Eyebrow Pencil from The Faceshop , that twists up so you never have to sharpen it. The Lip Tint. To recreate the allusion, you can dab Etude House Cherry Tint [ed note: discontinued] or, for an orange-y red, Tony Moly Cat Chu Wink [ed note: discontinued] at the center of your lips. Like all Korean lip tints, both products are adorably packaged (did you miss the cat ears on Tony's?) and smell and taste like jellybeans. The Next Big Thing. This is the next BB cream. more...

True Life : I'm Obsessed with Korean Cosmetics

I use these daily and they are all given the A+ recommendation by me. I love this moisturizer because it’s lightweight, and smells clean. I LOVE the mascara in Korea because it is super thick, and I love really thick, voluminous lashes. I like my lashes to almost look fake, and that’s why I love the mascara here. It feels really soothing to the eyes, it’s not oily at all, and it’s moisturizing. I like the Skin Food Milk Shake makeup remover because it’s also non irritating and it gets all my eye makeup off in about 2 swipes. Skin Food Argan Oil Silk Hair Mask Pack: I picked this stuff up at Skin Food just curious about it, when the sales lady ran over to me and told me it would be perfect for my hair. I like this because it smells nice, it’s really easy to use, and the brushes dry quickly. It’s not overly sweet, and it has just the right hints of spice. And I absolutely love the smell. I love love love love love this stuff and I’ll buy it again and again. The taste is meh, but the color is awesome and long lasting. Those are the items I want to buy for all of my friends and send back home. This is a pic I took of myself today, and decorated with the Deco Pic app. more...

Shopping in Seoul, South Korea – Beauty and COSMETICS

If you’re a girl (or guy) and you enjoy experimenting with make up and/or skin care products or if you’re just a sucker for pretty packaging (like myself) – South Korea is the place to go! Being in the UK I find that the selection from drugstores isn’t that great compared to their Asian equivalents such as Sa Sa, Bonjour in Hong Kong, and Missha, Skin Food, Tony Moly, the Face Shop, Nature Republic, Innis Free, The Face Shop, Holika Holika etc in South Korea. My Korean friend said that Missha was popular amongst teenagers since their products are generally affordable, and Tony Moly is fantastic for eye shadows. My friend even purchased some snail masks and creams from Missha and Holika Holika. Below is a pic of us experimenting with the masks we bought. So here is a selection of products I bought from the various beauty chains in Seoul (mainly from the Myeong dong and Hong dae area): Above is a range of cutely packaged blushers in coral and baby pink from the Face Shop. Eyeshadows from Tony Moly and Nature Republic, and eyeliners from Nature Republic, and the popular bb cream from Missha (one for myself and one for my sister) I also found the variety of colours for nail polishes from the different cosmetic stores so enticing and affordable! The selection in the UK are pretty plain and safe, and the only colourful brands are Barry M but I find their colours don’t last very long. The Aloe Vera gel from Nature republic came in such a large tub, and was so cheap! Face masks above – a lot from innis free and Missha, and many I received for free! And above are the huge selection of samples I received just from either entering the shop or from purchases – the free samples consist of toners, lotions, essences, bb cream samples, masks, shampoo and conditioner samples, and even sunscreen! more...

The Latest in Korean Beauty Products - W Magazine

It’s prime time in Seoul, and on the TV in my hotel room a panel of women are conducting a painstaking analysis of facial cleansing wipes. And the very thorough panel on my TV has left me with only one question: Where can I buy this stuff? “Consumers get very spoiled.” Indeed, the discoveries Peach and Lily has brought to the U. A favorite is the Ten Cremor for Face Smooth Pudding, an antiaging cream that feels like custard and melts into the skin. Yoon decides to introduce the potion, and 11 other Cremorlab products, on her site immediately. Glowing, über-moisturized, babylike skin has become the hallmark of Korean beauty in the past five years, and it has not only set off an avalanche of nuanced terms for glowiness like chok chok (which essentially translates to “plump and moist”), but also sparked a boom in innovative products that go well beyond BBs. It’s located in the plastic surgery district, which is plastered with before-and-after ads and chockablock with hotel-hospital hybrids. And they’re hardly the only procedure on the Dr. The category was kick-started by the success of the Japanese brand SK-II’s Facial Treatment Essence and has snowballed throughout Asia, with countless varieties now on the market. Made with maple tree sap, it boasts hydrating molecules said to be the ideal size for penetrating skin and has acne-fighting antibacterial properties. more...

Korea Trip #6 : Korea Must Buy

Oh yea, please be prepare that this post might be shock for you .especially at the end of the post because I'm gonna talk mandarin in my Korea Skincare & Makup Haul video. BUT before that I will write more detail on where I bought all my items because I know most of you doesn't read through all the previous Korea Trip's post so I just make something like summary on this post. If you saw some product you want and it's still on promotion price (especially promotion pack) If you really want it JUST BUY! For my experience, I went to the Holika Holika and It's Skin shop. Then I decided to buy that item and the girl told me it's RM 30 then free 5 more mask sheet. Never say too much when you shopping there because end up when you back from the trip you will give your friends / family / relative and just end with 40% = YOUR ITEM! I asked on my insta and some of you told me that this shop selling cheaper price for some brand such as Laneige but i tell you the cheapest one I can get is from LOTTE DUTY FREE SHOP! Lol The more you buy the cheaper you get. Their hand cream also super cheap and you can buy in a promo pack with CHEAPER PRICE! I bought the eyeshadow tip it's very easy to use but I strongly recommended you all to buy its blusher! You can always buy cosmetic item at any shop but if you wanna buy any skincare or mask product you can get from Lotte Duty Free Shop (more cheaper) but free sample won't as much as others shop la! You notice that most of the snack can get from LOTTE too. Because some of the shop selling those souvenir wasn't korea but it's CHINA SHOP with CHINA OWNER. Samsung is a really big company from Korea and it's one kind of insurance like that to ensure that the product is save or real. So as long as you have a chance to visit there please buy as much as you can especially their snack or food because everything i bought TASTE REALLY GOOD & NICE. more...

My Updated Korean Skincare Routine - The Wanderlust Project

This one is focused on my nighttime skincare routine, using all Korean skincare products, and following the typical Korean skincare routine. It’s wintertime now, so my skincare routine is focused on getting the most amount of moisture into my skin as possible. I use one pump and massage it into my slightly damp skin. I use this one when I feel like my skin is extra dry or dull, as it’s a very moisturizing toner. If it’s around that time of the month, or I feel like my skin might be having some issues, I use the AC Care Water Essence, which I reviewed here . Before Winter really hit, I was using the AC Care Bee’s Cure Serum and the Repair Complex as my serum and emulsion, but I found that my skin didn’t feel moisturized enough (winter is rough), so I switched to the Missha Super Aqua Marine Cell Intensive Serum and Control Emulsion. I pump the serum into my hands, rub them together and gently pat it on my face. My nighttime routine is when I pile on the moisture, so that’s why I use both a cream and sometimes a sleeping pack. I use the Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Cream, which was totally an impulse buy after the sales woman tested a bit on my hand and I sort of melted. It’s perfect for people with dry skin, or for people who want a little moisture boost in the winter. I like this cream so much I actually use it in the daytime too. After applying my cream, I will sometimes opt to add just that extra layer of moisture and use my Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Deep Moisture Sleeping Pack. And I know some people may think that my skin must look like an oil spill by the time I go to bed, but nope. That’s the beauty of Korean products, they all seem to magically absorb into my skin, instead of just sitting on top of it. more...

ENDED Mask giveaway + Must - buy skincare cosmetics from Korea

Before flying to Seoul, I was trying to search for MUST buy skincare and cosmetics from Korea. Yeah, was trying the easy way out since there were so many different stores and products, I'm not sure which are good! This gigantic 500ml bottle is sure to last you long, and its only 15,000 won (cheaper if its during sale) The brand associates itself as eco-friendly and natural. Bought the Innisfree CC Cream and find it really suitable for me since I've dull skin. One effect of the CC cream is to brighten your skin tone, and I think Innisfree's did it for me. I've used this for around 3 times, using the sample packs. I used this clay mask right after I entered the bathroom and leave it on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it off with running water. Bought this cleansing cream for makeup removal, and it disappoints. Just yesterday, I used this, rinsed it off and applied my Its Saem facial cleanser. Bought this over the other similar products purely because of its cheaper price (3300 won) + according to its packaging, it contains 95% compared to 92% for nature republic. When I was in Korea, I used this as a hydrating gel on my legs and arms. Starting my very first giveaway for this blog, with 4 random masks from Korea to giveaway (i.e Etude House, Innisfree and more). more...

Must Buy Skincare From Korea : Laneige, Etude House etc

When inspirations strike and opinions form, and when heartfelt joys fill the moments. This trip to Korea wasn't meant to be a shopping trip and yet, I hauled back a lot of my first love - skincare! I tried it at the hotel and quite like it so I got 4 bottles, some for presents again. Unlike the many other skincare shops in Korea,  Olive Young  carries a lot of international brands and when I was there last week, some masks were running the 1+1 promo and they cost only 500 KRW each! Moreover, I was quite concerned about the thick texture of most creams (because they contain sun protection and are in cream texture) and found this  skin79  oil-free fluid base love! They too are scattered all over the city and they carry brands by  Amore Pacific , a mega skincare company in Korea. We met a Korean lady that use the premium brand Hera and boy was her skin good! The good thing about skincare and cosmetic shopping in Korea is that you'll be given tons of samples! Surprisingly, most shops in Korea allow tax refund for a mere 30,000 KRW and above. For eg, Etude House gives 5% tax refund for combined purchases of 30,000 KRW and 7% for combined purchases of 50,000 KRW and above. And remember to ask the salesperson about tax refund if they don't give you the form 'coz most times, once they closed a sale, they'll run off to target the next customer. more...

Korean BB Cream Picks from Beauty Blogger

Koreans have been at the forefront of the beauty industry for centuries, but it wasn't until a little product called  BB cream hit the market that cosmetics companies from around the world wanted to know everything there is to know about Korean beauty innovation. Read on for more information about Koran beauty, skincare and BB creams. A BB cream is sort of like foundation, except it's light in consistency and coverage, and, most importantly, it improves the quality of your skin. Hanskin became the first Korean beauty company to specialize exclusively in BB cream and the product quickly spread all over the country. You really need to know your skin type in order to find the BB cream that best suits your skin, but for those of you outside of Korea who are curious, these are the Top 5 best BB cream brands in my country: My favorite BB cream is Caolion Sensitive BB Cream, but before you go ahead and order a tube, it's important to address your skin type first. Caolion works best for me, but it might not be the best BB cream for you. My skin was highly sensitive after treatment, but this BB cream helped calm the irritation and was surprisingly soothing on my skin. Caolion Sensitive BB Cream doesn't provide the best coverage, but the application is very smooth. I personally love to put a bit of BB cream on the back of my hand and apply it with a beauty blender sponge. The following brands are the biggest and most influential Korean brands: more...

Little Chloe : Review of skincare product form Korea

But this product is very fun because you can feel the bubble popping on your face. The function of this product is to clean your pore. And then only i realize that there is a very thoughtful design which if you cant finish it, you actually can seal it into the slit provided. I am not sure if you can see the slit. You can stuff the cover into the slit like this.  Frankly, i dont like the smell of this product because it smells very artificial which means FOR ME it smells like it is chemical made product, not natural product . This is the must buy from banila co other than their primer. I am not sure you can see it cleary but i circle it up the little scoop provide to scoop the make up removal. I like the smells of this product. This product can be daily use . more...

Korean Skin Care and Makeup. Why You Should Ride the Korean Beauty Wave. The Korean beauty market is a prolific place for trends, from brightening skin care and BB creams to eyelash extensions and, yes, even plastic surgery. "And based off our feedback, I think other people are sharing this passion, too." After living in Seoul, Lee discovered the dedication Korean women have to their skin care routines, and she's sharing her insights on Korean beauty trends and what's in it for you. "For example, the Samsung and LG electronics, mobile phones, and TVs have built this trust with the Korean brand, so people in general have a growing trust in Korean goods. The emergence of luxury cosmetics like SK-II and Amore Pacific have also helped Asian skin care brands as well. And I also think in this globalized world where we have access to everything, people hear about Korean cosmetics and are interested in trying them." Interview : Korean Beauty and Skincare Trends with Alice of

I asked Alice all kinds of questions about what’s trending in Korea, what her personal must-have products are, and what trends are on the way out. For the story – one day, I went to a cosmetic shop to buy the foundation again and the shop assistant asked me which skincare products I use. – Leaders AC Stop Foam Cleansing for the days I have some troubles on my skin. – The Face Shop’, Innisfree, Etude House mask pack series. I love Laneige’s skincare products, especially the Water Bank line. Innisfree recently launched a new line of skincare products: The Balhyo line. And Laneige’s eyeshadow are always amazing, and top of the list. This is a kind of history of Korean Skincare Trends and the hit items: As of now, I can see that the Syn-ake products are not so popular and the honey line is not that special, so it’s declining. For the other trends, I still see people using and buying them. For the moment, I have no other project than improving the shop and offering better services and experiences to my customers. I still have so many brands to put into the shop (and that’s so much work and especially time consuming ^.^) . I now order from this shop regularly, and the service has been great. All products are fresh from the manufacturer, and there are plenty of samples included. more...

New Splash Masks Korean Skin Care - Marie Claire

Basically, these splash masks are unlike any mask you've tried before, mainly because they come in liquid form and take all of 15 to 30 seconds to use (meaning that I could have been on time to those parties). The masks are a blend of botanical extracts and lactic acid, which helps to re-texturize your skin. To use this mask, you mix about a capful of the stuff with a bowl of water, and then splash (as the name suggests) the mixture on your face for under half a minute, rinse, and boom—you're done. If you are mess-prone or just really not into adding extra dirty dishes to the ever-growing pile in your sink, you can also take the mask into your shower, pour a capful of product into your palms, and pat onto your face for 20 seconds or so. The video below shows just how to use the mask, with music, graphics, and all. Results included soft, radiant, and glow-y skin, and the masks have been selling out at glowrecipe.com . Blithe Splash Masks come in soothing and healing green tea, (energizing) yellow citrus and honey, and rejuvenating purple berry, with green tea as the fan favorite. more...

Where To Buy Korean and Japanese Makeup and Skincare

Where to buy Korean and Japanese Makeup and Skincare you ask? The biggest and best selection of Korean and Japanese Makeup, Skincare, and Beauty is right online at your finger tips. The nice thing about Sasa is the fact you can a wide range of everything from Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese brands. The stock is sometimes kinda low and they sell out of things quickly I’ve noticed but they do restock so you have to keep your eyes peeled. The sad part is they are limited sometimes to what they do stock from brands…like Etude House they carry but it’s a very limited amount of product they have and not newly released items. They also carry drugstore brands like Maybelline and the nice thing is you can indulge in products we haven’t yet gotten from Maybelline here in the US. They are also the mecca for Asian skincare and sheet masks from brands like My Beauty Dairy, etc. This one is sadly lacking in Korean beauty here unfortunately but a good amount of Japanese skincare and beauty from brands like Jill Stuart, Canmake, Kose, KATE, Majolica Majorca. Excellent variety of skincare, beauty, and makeup however, more concentrated on Japanese brands here with a few Taiwanese ones like My Beauty Dairy but no selection of Korean ones. Excellent variety of products and the newest, hottest Asian releases in both cosmetics and skincare. They have a good selection but sometimes aren’t as active with newer products and collections. They have incredible prices that are close to retail plus an excellent selection of the hottest and newest Korean beauty products. more...

5 Fascinating Trends in Korean Skin Care - Skin and Tonics

There was a time when the harvesting of these birds nests from their natural caves was ecologically devastating, but the days of cave harvesting are over. I was able to find research backing the skincare benefit claims of some of the individual components of a bird’s nest, but could find no research in English that studied the bird’s nest as a whole in terms of skincare benefits. But if the skincare benefits are as real as they seem, I certainly don’t want to miss out. Bee venom has been used for years to treat arthritis, back pain, and rheumatism, but as a skincare ingredient, it’s still a newcomer. The idea is that the skin benefits from it because of a compound contained in the venom called “melitten.”  Melitten contains anti-inflammatory properties that are said to be stronger than hydrocortisone. I was unable to find a completed study specifically regarding the effects of bee venom in skincare. No doubt you’ve seen American products advertising stem cell technology, but the difference is that the stem cells in American products are plant derived. The skincare benefits of using these stem cells, sometimes called called RG 2, is increased cell regeneration and sun damage reversal. There have been many studies done on the efficacy of stem cell technology in skincare, and it looks as though the claims are true. Stem cell based skincare is huge in Korea, with many experts arguing that it’s the greatest innovation in skincare to date.  It has the potential to be huge here, but there is a lot of controversy over stem cell research and usage in this country. Most products featuring Syn-ake are serums, although there are some skincare lines that feature moisturizing creams and emulsions containing the compound. Like bee venom, Syn-ake is touted as a Botox alternative, but what sets it apart is that there have actually been studies done on its safety and efficacy. What I’ve learned from all this is that I apparently have no boundaries when it comes to skincare. more...

Cheddarina : What to buy in Korea

For ladies, the most most most important thing to buy in Korea is skincare products! The most expensive buy- Lady & Skin range. The star product of Lady & Skin- Cell Emotion RX Prestige System, consists of EGF serum (the one in white tube) and Placen serum (the one in metallic silver bottle). I rate it the best because it has the SPF that I want, has a pleasant aroma and it contains shining pearl, which improves my dull complexion. But the prices are too expensive and I doubted the quality of the ginseng sold to tourists, so I only bought these. more...

All you need to do is apply the product with cotton pad and you can skip the moisturizer if you wish to. By the way, Hi Shop has a few Hope Girl products on their list, but the product option is very limited. My mom has the Black Ginseng Cream (110,000 won) and it works like wonder. I would love to get the It's Moist Seoul Tint (16,400 won) for souvenir. I'm not a fan of tint, but the "I. more...
