Sometimes it may seem like your skin is impossible to manage, especially when you wake up and find a huge zit on your nose or a cold sore at the corner of your mouth. The good news is that there are ways to prevent and treat common skin problems — read on for some tips. Avoid touching your face with your fingers or leaning your face on objects that collect sebum and skin residue like your phone. Touching your face can spread the bacteria that cause pores to become inflamed and irritated. If you wear glasses or sunglasses, make sure you clean them frequently to keep oil from clogging the pores around your eyes and nose. Protect your skin from the sun. A dermatologist can help you find the treatment method that's best for you and can also give you lots of useful tips for dealing with acne and caring for your skin type. We all know that the sun can damage skin, but did you know it can contribute to eye problems, too? Some medications, such as prescription acne medications, can increase your sensitivity to the sun (and to tanning beds). But if you get them often or they're a problem, talk to your doctor or dermatologist, who may be able to prescribe medication to alleviate symptoms and shorten the amount of time cold sores last. But if you do get them, don't rub, pick, or scratch them because you can spread the virus and get new warts. So keep your skin glowing with the right skin care techniques and by eating well and getting lots of exercise.

We clearly know that the melanin in brown skin distinguishes it from the skin of others. The second step to good brown skin health is regular skin self-examination. The third step in ensuring healthy brown skin is protection from the sun. Look for broad-spectrum products containing ingredients that protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays. Always apply sunscreen 20 minutes before you’re exposed to the sun to allow your skin to absorb the product and create a protective shield. The final step to care for healthy brown skin is to nurture your skin. Monthly self-examinations and protection from the sun are essential for the health of this skin type. Avoidance of products that irritate brown skin, and lead to dark marks, is essential.

It is first important to determine the type of skin you have in order to practice proper daily skin care. Wash – The most important step in your skin care regime is in proper washing. You shouldn’t exfoliate daily as the scrubbing action can be too harsh on your skin. Moisturize – The final step in your skin care routine, it is incredibly important to keep your face moisturized. Hydration is vital to keep the skin youthful and firm and there are moisturizers to target all sorts of needs. You shouldn’t neglect the delegate skin around the eyes, as it is the first place that fine lines will typically appear. Most importantly to remember regarding hyperpigmentation is to take care in protecting your skin from the sun. Protecting your skin from the sun will decrease your chances of getting dark spots to your skin. Use one that is gentle and hydrating, and wash in lukewarm water since hot water can also further dry the skin out. Stay on top of the hydration and you will avoid dry skin, the ashy appearance , and will keep the fine lines away retaining a youthful glow. Ingrown Hairs – Although not exclusive to African American men, you do battle greatly with ingrown hairs due to the way the hair grows from your skin. Add to that sharp edge a curl pattern to your hair growth, and you have incredible likeliness that the hair will curl back into the skin, causing the hair to grow inward. As a result of the inward growing hair, bacteria and fluid forms, causing a bump to the skin. Be sure not to mistake these bumps as a pimple and try to pick at it, because doing so will only cause dark spots to the skin.
