Green tea: This natural wonder has long been touted for its countless health and beauty benefits, and now Korean brand Amore Pacific has perfected the science behind cultivating and extracting the most powerful benefits of EGCG, an antioxidant only found in green tea. Japanese Skin Care Brands Doing Poorly in US Market

In other parts of the world, brands like Shu Uemura , Shiseido , and Kanebo are household names and integral parts of most women's skin care regimens. So it's strange that such well-respected Japanese brands don't have a much larger share of the market. The current theory is that American women spend far less time on skin care than their Asian and European sisters. I learned good skin care and frugality from my mom - there is a large swath of American women who want to take the best care of their skin that they possibly can, but cannot afford a $50 skin cream. I don't necessarily think that prestige brands are the best (I bought stuff from one Shiseido line that broke me out like crazy) but American women often pay more attention to makeup than skin care. The saleslady told me that Shu decided to pull from the Netherlands at least and close their stores. I think that Shiseido, Shu Uemura, and SK-II are great brands and those are the ones I usually buy. I find that many women in the U. I love the way we are now teaching future women (and men) to take proper care of their skin. I think American women tend to look for "cure-alls" and products that do multiple things, while perhaps the Japanese market is more specialized? more...

Paris : Skincare brands to buy that actually work and are a

Paris: Skincare brands to buy that actually work and are a good value? I know that a lot of the products aren't that great of a value in Paris as compared to the USA. So more like the drug store type stuff rather than the department store brands. I love L'Occitane products, but like the others say be sure to check the prices in the US. I've gotten it for really good prices and other times seen it for the same as in the US. Also like the La Roche Posay products. Djkbooks on Feb 2, 11 at 07:51 AM. Christina on Feb 2, 11 at 12:52 PM. All the French lines I know that are supposed to be pretty good are available in the US, and they are always cheaper in the US. Honestly, I did not compare the price between NYC and Paris. Remember to look at the ceiling when you are there. I don't live in the US so I don't know where it is available there, but since it is a French product, you will find it in Paris. Christina on Feb 3, 11 at 03:38 PM. Djkbooks on Feb 3, 11 at 05:01 PM. Not only are these products often severely irritating to many, one can only wonder why anyone would spend that much for the promised results, which are far from impressive if you look carefully (and ignore the "results may not be typical" disclaimers). more...

Best of France - French Pharmacie Must - Haves - ELLE yeah

Some people like to use them as a toner, I personally use them to hydrate my skin when sunbathing in the summer and also to refresh my makeup throughout the day. Despite being quite thick, it manages to soothe and nourish the skin, without feeling heavy or sticky  - a bonus when your face is about to hit your freshly laundered (well, washed) pillowcase. If like me, you suffer from dry, dehydrated skin, I strongly suggest popping the following three products in your basket, next time you step into a French pharamacie or parapharmacie. Caudalie Vinosource Serum , Avène Masque Apaisant Hydratant and Nuxe Crème Fraîche moisturiser are a perfect combination to help nourish, soothe and protect the skin, especially during the cold winter months. Ok, so L'Occitane isn't technically hard to come by in England and it's not a brand you can find in French pharmacies either, but I do love it and it's French so I'm adding it to this post anyway - I like to break the rules like that. It leaves your skin feeling clean, your pores looking tight and has a brightening effect on the complexion. For acne-prone skin, try the green clay version , which helps draw toxins from the skin and calm inflammations. The cleanser and daily moisturiser literally saved my skin when I was a spotty teenager. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo and Effaclar K creams are also really good to get rid of the odd pimple, but be careful if your skin is on the sensitive side as it can be quite drying - and no one wants to have to conceal a flaky zit! I am on my fourth pot and can honestly say that it is the best lipbalm I have ever tried – by a mile. It is a bit on the thick side and doesn't sink in very fast, but it does leave your lips feeling extremely smooth and deeply nourished. I personally like the nude and pink ones. Maybelline Instant Anti-Age concealer – or Instant Age-Rewind concealer depending on where you live - has been all the rage amongst American beauty bloggers and although it is not currently available in the UK, it is widely available in France. The smell isn’t the yummiest, but my skin is left silky smooth for several days. more...
