Let’s say that you’re “technically young” (so, in your early twenties, though we could argue—to the teeth!—that the thirties are still “technically young,” but for the purpose of this exercise, let’s say your twenties) and have assembled something of a skincare regimen. (I have friends who never take painkillers for this reason, and also avoid antibiotics unless under severe duress.) I wondered if the same applied to skincare. I am in my 30s, was trying to cheer myself up looking for something new to buy and browsing your site made me think it would be great if you could put together a basic regimen that covers all the bases and is right for my age. You want healthy skin, and too much exfoliation can disrupt the skin's barrier or give you a lot of irritation. The second thing to keep in mind is that you want to chose a method of exfoliation that will be uniform throughout the skin and avoid things that will hurt the skin. If you have fine lines, make sure to scrub perpendicular to the direction the lines run for the best results. That means you should hightail it to a dollar store or Walmart to buy rough washcloths to wash your face with. • Scrubs: When looking for scrubs you want fine, even grit that is not made up of irregularly shaped particles, particularly if they are sharp. You also want to make sure that the scrub has enough grit in it that you'll have fairly even results.
