A skin care regime for 40 - somethings - treatments

I was half way through a sun salutation when I caught sight of myself and saw with horror that, as I bent forward, gravity was pulling at my jowls and the skin under my eyes. I was sagging before my very eyes and it was all I could do not to slump to the floor in despair. There were other tell-tales: deepening furrows of the brow and laughter lines that had outlived such a generous appellation. The results are good in the short term, but what is the longer term result of getting more quickly to the Hayflick Limit ( the point at which - usually after 52 times - that a cell just stops recreating itself and dies). Years ago (like 25), I was having supper with some friends and one of them said: "The thing I really love about you, Marta, is that I can always tell exactly what you are thinking by the look on your face". With all this in the back of my mind, I discovered microcurrent treatments. True, I was born with chubby cheeks, but the microcurrent has certainly helped keep them that way. It keeps pores clear and clean and helps the skin to be more receptive to the expensive serums that I'll be talking about in part 2. Of course 40-something skin care doesn't just stop at the salon — check out my part 2 post about  potions and lotions (that work!) for 40-somethings . Thanks for the good laugh. Marta, can you hurry up with Part 2 for the 40's and quickly move onto the 50's! I'd love to try some of these treatments but fear I'll be put in the wrong hands and will end up looking like ET. The treatments that really work for me are vitamin C and retinol. more...

To use retinoids for wrinkles and aging skin , you need to start applying a retinoid such as retin A less often in the first two weeks to avoid redness and peeling. Such creams slowly increase collagen production, exfoliate the outer layer of the skin, and stimulate cell turnover while causing less irritation than retinoids. As a 40-something, you might be noticing more lines around your eyes, mouth and forehead and your complexion might be looking dull and dry. However, your 40s are a time to re-evaluate your skin and update your regimen. D., tells Web MD, “If you wore sunscreen, if you did some preventive care, then you may not notice any major difference in your skin.” But, “If you didn’t do those things, then fine lines and wrinkles are definitely on the upswing once you hit 40,” he explains. Usually, the skin gets drier, so even though you might’ve spent your entire life with normal skin, you might need to shop for products for dry skin.
