6 Tried and True Beauty Tips For Your 30's - Shop Sweet

I was able to get by using Proactive Solutions most of the time and kept it really simple with over-the-counter moisturizers. I’ve been breaking out more, the wrinkles under my eyes are really starting to show, and my skin just seemed to be more dull no matter how much make-up I put on. I usually set my make-up with a mineral loose powder in the morning and use a pressed powder throughout the day to keep my skin from looking oily. However, what I’ve learned lately is that, especially in our 30’s, the powder sets into your wrinkles and it actually makes it look worse. So instead, start using  blotting paper throughout the day and only use the powder when its necessary. Keep them in your purse and apply during the day when you feel like it needs a little attention. She told me that once I hit my 30s, my skin will not be able regenerate as quickly as it did in my 20s, and the dead skin cells tend to build up faster. It deeply cleanses and extracts all the nasty stuff from our pores and it helps balance the natural oil in our skin. Ok, I admit, I use the St. And I have to say, I used to skip my toner because I thought the alcohol really made my skin uncomfortable. She said this is a very important step not to skip because it helps balance the p H level of our skin, meaning leaving it at the most neutral stage and thus less prone to oiliness or infection. more...

Rethinking Your Skincare Routine : Why Less Is More

All that sunbathing you thought you’d gotten away with starts to deliver results in the form of dark spots and uneven tone. The blue troughs under your eyes don’t go away with a good night’s sleep. Do that — and see the dermatologist occasionally — and we guarantee that you’ll age better than gracefully. When to use it: Morning and night. Skin Care and A Routine

If you have to touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water - or alternatively, use a face towel. Determine your skin type and buy skin care products to suit your skin type. This is an incredibly important step because if you buy products that aren't appropriate for your skin, they will be incredibly ineffective, and may worsen the situation. Dry Skin-If your skin feels very tight and is noticeably flaky in areas, then you have dry skin. If your face is visibly shiny, and literally feels slightly wet to the touch then you have oily skin. If you have oily skin, you should tone, exfoliate, use a spot treatment, and lightly moisturize once in a while. If you have combination skin, you tend to get oily around your nose, chin, and forehead area, and dry around your cheeks. If you have sensitive skin, use a moisturizer, cleanser, and spot treatment all suitable for sensitive skin. Apply the cleanser and massage it into your skin in upwards, circular motions. By restoring your skin to its natural p H, you also make it more resistant against bacteria and micro-organisms. So after cleansing and toning you should moisturize with a face moisturizer for your skin type. The Best Skin Care Routine for Your 30s

The Best Skin Care Routine for Your 30s. It’s not all in your head: Skin really does get duller around your thirtieth, when skin cells get as sluggish as you are after a night of tequila shots. “Dead cells sit around longer and rob skin of luminosity,” says Howard Sobel, a dermatologist in New York City. “Glycolic acid is one of the most effective exfoliators because it penetrates more deeply than other acids,” says Fredric Brandt, a dermatologist in New York City and Miami. Rub a drop or two between your fingertips and gently press them over clean skin in the morning, starting with your cheeks, where women typically want to look most radiant. Before you can see sun spots —often caused by beach vacations and long runs (or extended happy hours) outside—they’ve already formed under your skin. Each morning, put on a serum with skin brighteners, like soy (we like  Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 ) or  vitamin C (try Skin Ceuticals C E Ferulic Combination Antioxidant Treatment )—and start now. The sun causes 90 percent of wrinkles, and preventing them (by wearing sunscreen, duh) is easier than smoothing lines later on. And don’t forget the rest of your body, beginning with the thin skin on your chest and hands, which shows signs of aging sooner than other body parts. We like Sun Bum Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 and Supergoop SPF 40 Forever Young Hand Cream, which belongs on your bathroom counter so you remember to use it after washing your hands. more...

Protect and treat the eyes. As a 30-something, you should introduce an eye cream into your nightly routine. Continue protecting the eye area with sunscreen if your eye cream doesn’t contain SPF. Handle your hands with care. With thinning skin and loss of moisture, hands begin to appear older and can reveal your true age (or worse, add years to it!). Neglecting your hands can lead to sun spots, discoloration and dry skin. If you haven’t done so already, add these steps to your routine. This helps your hands look younger and smoother and allows moisturizer to penetrate better. Always apply sunscreen on your hands (and other exposed areas, like the neck and chest). more...

A skincare regimen for 30 - somethings - Truth In Aging

I am in my 30s, was trying to cheer myself up looking for something new to buy and browsing your site made me think it would be great if you could put together a basic regimen that covers all the bases and is right for my age. The first things that come to mind – since you mentioned that you were in need of cheering up (and in November, who doesn't?) – are brightening and pampering. You are in need of an exfoliating mask – and so are most 30-somethings. It is in your 30s that your skin starts to look a little gray and washed out. A weekly, gentle exfoliating mask will give you a brighter complexion, refine your skin tone and help close enlarged pores. I would go for La Vie Celeste’s glycolic mask, it has mostly natural ingredients and a 5% glycolic concentration that is just enough to give you a glow ( read our reader review ).  If your skin is prone to breakouts, then Epicuren’s Discovery Milk  Cleanser ($22) is very helpful with vitamin E and kukui nut oil ( read the full review ). If funds permit and that objective appraisal of your skin condition concludes that heavier guns are needed, then I would suggest Your Best Face Restore with vitamin C and alpha arbutin for brightening the skin ( read our 30-year old tester’s review ). I also think that a major problem 30-somethings face is the beginning of gradual thinning and loss of moisture and elasticity of the skin. Next thing you know, you wake up and the wrinkles from the night won't go away. The best thing I have found so far and and am very happy with the results is hyaluronic acid. With the winter here and the alternating dry hot air inside and dry cold air outside, the skin around my eyes needs some extra moisture. A topical hyaluronic acid cream will help your skin retain moisture and look plumper too. more...
