Skin Care Tips For Your 20s - POPSUGAR Beauty

Straws Cause Wrinkles and 14 More Skin Tips For Your 20s. So when it comes to your skin, maybe 30 is the new 20 after all. "You're going to lose collagen and elastic tissue, so your skin is going to get saggier. Your skin is going to get rougher, and the pigment isn't going to be as even. While you're in your 20s, get in the habit of noshing on berries, beans, and dark chocolate. It restricts the blood supply to the skin, making aging more obvious, and each time you inhale, you're causing wrinkles around your lips. Exercise increases the blood supply to your skin, making it healthier, and it will show. While a steaming hot shower can be relaxing, the heat is actually drying to your hair and skin. "Hair becomes dryer, more brittle, and is not as shiny and resilient." So, you'll need all the moisture you can get. Retinol is a cure-all product for your skin care woes and is safe to start using in your 20s. Plus, it brightens and evens your skin tone," Dr. more...

Skin Care and A Routine

If you have to touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water - or alternatively, use a face towel. Determine your skin type and buy skin care products to suit your skin type. This is an incredibly important step because if you buy products that aren't appropriate for your skin, they will be incredibly ineffective, and may worsen the situation. Dry Skin-If your skin feels very tight and is noticeably flaky in areas, then you have dry skin. If your face is visibly shiny, and literally feels slightly wet to the touch then you have oily skin. If you have oily skin, you should tone, exfoliate, use a spot treatment, and lightly moisturize once in a while. If you have combination skin, you tend to get oily around your nose, chin, and forehead area, and dry around your cheeks. If you have sensitive skin, use a moisturizer, cleanser, and spot treatment all suitable for sensitive skin. Apply the cleanser and massage it into your skin in upwards, circular motions. By restoring your skin to its natural p H, you also make it more resistant against bacteria and micro-organisms. So after cleansing and toning you should moisturize with a face moisturizer for your skin type. If you haven't applied enough moisturizer and your skin still feels a little tight, then apply a bit more. Your skin needs to get used to the frequency of being treated, and to the products you're using. more...

In Your 20s. Attention, dewy young beauties: This is the most important decade for your skin. The way you care for it now will determine what it will look like for the rest of your life. "You don't need antiwrinkle creams or microdermabrasion in your 20s," says Ranella Hirsch, MD, president-elect of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology & Aesthetic Surgery. The Best Routine for Your Skin. What is a good skin care routine and how to get one for yourself | The two things that come to mind when discussing the best skin care routine for your skin are: Part 2: How to get a good skin care routine. Defining what makes a skin care routine good and how to get a good skin care routine for yourself will help you understand what exactly is needed to make your skin the most beautiful it can be. Part 1: What exactly is a good skin care routine? Everyone should follow a good skin care routine. You want to take care of your skin, whether you have acne or not, because your skin is the largest organ on your body that protects you from the sun, wind, and rain. A basic skin care routine has four steps, performed twice a day (once in the morning and once at night without the sunscreen component): If your skin is oily and moisturizer makes it even oilier, then you can skip that part of your routine. There are no strict rules for a good skin care routine. It all depends on your skin type and what your skin likes. And you definitely don’t want a skin care routine that makes your skin worse. A skin care routine should make your skin better! Figuring out how to get your perfect skin care routine and choosing the right products is the next thing to do . more...

Good Skin Care Tips for 20’s, 30’s, and Beyond

Good Skin Care Tips for 20’s, 30’s, and Beyond. This age is also right to start moisturizing the skin along with cleansing, because it is during this age that we have maximum collagen support. We also need to feed our skin with antioxidant-rich, hydrating products as collagen works its best at this age. Never use products which removes the entire oil from your skin, even if you have full blown acne and pimples, because this will only lead our oil glands to over-drive, resulting in more pimples. If you are using retinoids during the night then you are getting enough exfoliation but if you are not using them and your skin is sensitive to them, add a cleanser, moisturizer or a night cream with salicylic acid or glycolic acid. In our 30’s skin can begin to look dull, and the easiest solution for this is exfoliation, which you can do at home also. Never forget to moisturizer with petrolatum and shea butter, if you find even slightest dryness on your skin. Skin care for 50s, 60s and Beyond: That entire struggle you had at the young age with your skin will help you at this age. All you have to do is maintain your skin and not give up on it. more...

3 Things I Wish I'd Started Doing for My Skin in My 20s

I tried to play it cool, but my mind was racing through panicked questions: "Baggy pleather with an elasticized ankle—wait, really?", and "What's that sheer mesh panel doing there?" and "Where's the bottom half of this shirt?" Plus, all the flannel got me thinking how it's weird that I've been around long enough for a fashion era I participated in (grunge) to be "back." Meanwhile, I was only even in the store to return a mini backpack I bought for my toddler daughter, and I felt all the 13-year-olds in line with me (school had just let out) totally knew it. ANYWAY—all this got me thinking about how at home my former twentysomething self once felt at Urban (I would have been all over the half shirts, so I'm thankful they did not exist), but also about how much wiser I am now about certain things. Here are the three things I'd started doing for my skin a decade ago. The world of skin care can be overwhelming and confusing, but what we know for sure is that retinoids are the most scientifically proven-effective anti-aging ingredients to date. Now I realize that I can just apply it every other night and still see noticeable improvement in the evenness and smoothness of my skin. I told myself that the SPF 15 sunscreen in my moisturizer was adequate protection, even when I was out in full sun. And I often was lax while on vacation, pretending to forget to apply sunscreen and let myself get a little old-fashioned "glow." The last time I ever did this was at age 29 during a trip to Martha's Vineyard; I noticed that instead of getting my usual nice even bronze, my face got darker and frecklier in patchy zones. It looked awful and was the most visible sign I'd ever seen of how time and the sun were changing my face/looks. Needless to say, this scared me straight and I not only triple-layer my sunscreen at the beach but also wear a hat and bring an umbrella! In my 20s, I felt like I was already going above and beyond for (occasionally) bothering to apply eye cream in addition to moisturizer. I can't believe I went so many years thinking my regular face cream was doing the trick in the eye area. What do you wish you could travel back in time and tell your younger self about skin care? more...

Skin care routine - Dermawand - UK Official Site

Skin care routine. She was telling me that consistency is good for your skin the same way routine watering is good for your orchids. Here we break down the steps to get you on your way to glorious skin. You should customize this routine with products for your skin type and problem areas. And remember that just like your wardrobe, good skin care is both age appropriate and seasonal. Cleansing removes impurities like dirt, makeup, and grime and clears your skin so that products can better absorb. (People with dry and sensitive skin will want to cleanse only once a day to avoid drying out the skin.)* Be careful not to tug or pull your skin as you do this. The basic skin care routine is about maintenance – it keeps your skin functioning smoothly. It also helps your skin better absorb product. *After cleansing, some people use a toner, but be careful: many toners contain alcohol and can dry out or irritate your skin. Your skin needs that underlying sebum, so you don’t want to strip away all oil with a toner. more...

The Twenty - Something Skin Care Routine

Besides signs of aging, your skin changes in other ways as you enter your twenties and requires some changes to your skin care routine. My skin is super sensitive and on the dry side, and this product is the perfect consistency for it. It can be hard to find the right moisturizer that really soaks into your skin and leaves it super soft. I always thought eye cream was meant for nighttime only, but the right eye cream can be applied day and night. The skin under your eyes is very different than the rest of your face and requires a different product, so it only makes sense to use it morning and night. Apply it with your middle finger and dab it into your skin. I use the same cleanser and eye cream from my morning routine, but I use my trusty Clarisonic  at night to really deep clean the skin and get rid of any dirt built up throughout the day. I choose not to use the Clarisonic in the morning as well because my skin is on the dryer side and I find that skipping this step in the morning keeps it softer throughout the day. When your skin is feeling dirty and your pores are clogged (usually in the warmer months), a pore refining mask is a must-have. Put it on before bed and your pimple is gone in the morning. Now let’s recap the 8 products you need in your skin care routine. more...

This week we're focusing on the 40s. So while you are by no means old, your skin is starting to "ripen," as Madame Bardot might say: It's still in nice condition, but you might be noticing a loss of tone, enlarged pore size and more pronounced fine lines. "Your skin starts to dry out and lines start to appear." (And he's a bit of an expert in the decade: 40-somethings Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz rely on the doctor's glowifying products and in-office treatments.) And you know all the sun-worshipping you did in your 20s? Rethinking Your Skincare Routine : Why Less Is More

All that sunbathing you thought you’d gotten away with starts to deliver results in the form of dark spots and uneven tone. The blue troughs under your eyes don’t go away with a good night’s sleep. Do that — and see the dermatologist occasionally — and we guarantee that you’ll age better than gracefully. When to use it: Morning and night. However, if you can make time to pour a glass of wine and curl up to watch TV, you can manage to scrub off the makeup, pollution, and grime that have accumulated during the day. (Despite its "oily" name, it won’t clog pores.) Note: If you can only bring yourself to cleanse your face once a day, do it in the evening, when skin is dirtiest. You’ll slough off dead cells, making the skin look smoother and enabling better penetration of your daytime products. Sunscreen not only helps prevent skin cancer, it "minimizes your skin’s exposure to free radicals in UV rays, which cause the breakdown of collagen," says Vivian Bucay, MD, a San Antonio dermatologist and melanoma survivor. To save time and money — and space in your medicine cabinet — it’s smart to opt for a formula that’s also hydrating, since most of us need a moisturizer during the day. Tip: Clinical studies show that antioxidants such as vitamins C and E help to fend off the kind of free radicals found in UV rays — and improve your sunscreen’s ability to do the same. more...

Skin savers for your 30s. We asked leading dermatologists to share their tips and tricks for saving your skin in your 30s. Save your skin. You may have skated through your 20s with an inconsistent approach to skin care, but now that you're in your 30s, it's time to get serious. "In addition to fine lines, skin is also drier and duller in color as the rate of cellular turnover decreases with age." Baby your skin by cleansing, moisturizing and protecting it on a daily basis. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (UVA and UVB protection) with a minimum SPF of 30 to your face, ears, neck and chest every day. Apply the serum daily after cleansing to firm and smooth your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Talk to your dermatologist about laser therapy, which can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. "A deep resurfacing session with the Pearl Fractional laser can provide long-term reduction of fine lines and wrinkles for a youthful appearance," says Alexiades-Armenakas. Skin-cell turnover slows down as you enter your 30s and 40s. Peggy Fuller of Esthetics Center for Dermatology in Charlotte, North Carolina, recommends counteracting the aging process with topical retanoids such as Retin-A to enhance skin turnover, prevent fine lines and improve wrinkles. more...

30's Skincare : A Beginning Anti - Aging Regimen

Skin Care in Your 30s. In your 30s, your complexion might appear uneven, rough and less radiant. Make sure to keep up with your basic skin care routine and be consistent. Continue protecting your skin from premature aging and sun damage with sunscreen. Like retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) help generate collagen, smooth lines and even out your complexion. Protect and treat the eyes. As a 30-something, you should introduce an eye cream into your nightly routine. Continue protecting the eye area with sunscreen if your eye cream doesn’t contain SPF. Handle your hands with care. With thinning skin and loss of moisture, hands begin to appear older and can reveal your true age (or worse, add years to it!). Neglecting your hands can lead to sun spots, discoloration and dry skin. If you haven’t done so already, add these steps to your routine. This helps your hands look younger and smoother and allows moisturizer to penetrate better. Always apply sunscreen on your hands (and other exposed areas, like the neck and chest). more...

Skin Care Products for Your 20s - Millennial Skin Care

Young women know and care more about their skin than ever. "Younger women now are realizing the consequences from seeing aging in older generations in their family and they now want to do everything they can to prevent line formation in the future," said Dr. Fredric Brandt, New York City and Miami-based dermatologist, and founder of the Dr. Brandt skin care line. Speaking of washing your face, there's been quite a bit written lately about the implications of not washing, such as this horrifying case study reported by the Daily Mail in which a woman decided not to wash her face for an entire month and her skin looked 10 years older at the end of said "study." Dr. The Xtend Your Youth line includes three products that range in price from $32 to $59—a face cream, an eye cream, and a cleanser called XYY Dual Fusion Water that had a group of beauty editors oohing and aahing at the launch. It's an antioxidant-loaded liquid cleanser and makeup remover that leaves skin soft and radiant. Botanical extracts in the products help to prevent cell shrinkage, which—according to the company—helps keep skin more resilient and ultimately more healthy-looking. The products have a fresh, clean smell and the Refining Moisturizer is light enough for daily use, even if you tend to the oily side. You could argue that young women can get anti-oxidant and moisturizing products from a variety of brands, which is definitely true, but it's certainly easier when it's packaged up all in one place just for you. more...

The Best Anti - Aging Cream for Your 20s and 30s

“In your late 20s to mid-30s, you enter a pre-aging,” says New York dermatologist Dr. At this stage, you might start to notice lines around your eyes and mouth, or dark spots from sun damage. It’s also a scavenger of sun damage.” And because retinol helps shed pore-clogging dead skin, it can help clear up the adult acne that you may get at this stage in life. Since air pollution and UV rays are sources of free radicals (molecules that damage living cells and cause aging), protect skin with a layer of antioxidants before you leave the house. “You’re literally creating a shield on the skin so no free radicals can touch the skin,” says Dana Nicolette, national trainer and brand ambassador for Amorepacific. Sunscreen on your face is a must. To avoid suffocating your skin with multiple products, try a moisturizer that doubles as a sunscreen with benefits. “You have to get in a good habit of putting [sunscreen] on your neck and your hands,” says Mariwalla. At this stage, you don’t need products that promise to increase collagen production or stimulate youth proteins, since your skin is already relatively young and resilient. And if your skin isn’t overly dry, you don’t need heavy moisturizing ingredients, either. more...
