You may remember Alicia Yoon as one of the experts from our story about the Korean 10-step skincare regimen , or our beginner’s guide to Asian skincare products . As the co-founder of Peach and Lily , a NYC-based online retailer that curates the latest cult beauty favourites from Korea and Japan, the best part of my job is going hunting in the ever-changing, innovative beauty landscape in Korea. To curate fresh products for each trip, the first stop is getting the raw scoop from skin-savvy Korean women—family, friends, even women on the streets! Here’s a glimpse into the first step of our lengthy curation process: talking to women on the streets of Seoul and learning about their favourite beauty products, tips, and secrets!
There are a ton of whitening products in the Korean and Japanese skincare markets, and many of the multi-functioning products tout whitening properties as one of the major attributes. The nice thing about this layering technique is that you are not obligated to use Asian skincare products to do it. There are a lot of online shops as well as Amazon and Ebay sellers that carry Korean & Japanese skincare products. This is a list of online stores and sellers that I know carry authentic products from Korean and Japanese skincare brands. Wishtrend – Wishtrend is one of the first online Korean Beauty retailers to pop up on the scene, and they carry a large array of products from brands that are sometimes hard to find in other places. The selection is HUGE, products are authentic, and the prices are very, very low. They have a huge selection of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean skincare products. I Am Love Shop – Huge selection of Korean skincare products from most of the major brands, such as Etude House, Lioele, Missha, OST, Aritaum, Innisfree, Ciracle, and many others. Cosmetic Love on Amazon – This shop has a great variety of Korean cosmetics and skincare products, and the prices are very good. The Beauty Wolf – This is a newcomer to the beauty blogging scene covering a lot of Korean makeup and skincare products, as well as a few Western products.

Thanks to our friends at Rank & Style , we now have a data-backed list that gives us the top 10 pore minimizers. La Mer 'The Radiant Infusion,' $115: Everyone wants a piece of La Mer, especially with this gel formula that uses sea salts to wake up your skin and reduce the appearance of pores. Philosophy Help Me Cream, $47.50: Although everything about this Philosophy gem is great, the best thing is the time-release technology that will keep working on your face all day long. Basically, these splash masks are unlike any mask you've tried before, mainly because they come in liquid form and take all of 15 to 30 seconds to use (meaning that I could have been on time to those parties). The masks are a blend of botanical extracts and lactic acid, which helps to re-texturize your skin. To use this mask, you mix about a capful of the stuff with a bowl of water, and then splash (as the name suggests) the mixture on your face for under half a minute, rinse, and boom—you're done. If you are mess-prone or just really not into adding extra dirty dishes to the ever-growing pile in your sink, you can also take the mask into your shower, pour a capful of product into your palms, and pat onto your face for 20 seconds or so. The video below shows just how to use the mask, with music, graphics, and all. Results included soft, radiant, and glow-y skin, and the masks have been selling out at glowrecipe.com . Blithe Splash Masks come in soothing and healing green tea, (energizing) yellow citrus and honey, and rejuvenating purple berry, with green tea as the fan favorite.
While new product development in skin care has been as active as ever in 2014, it was Estée Lauder’s acquisition sprint that stole the limelight. After a couple of inactive years, the premium player acquired two US niche skin care brands (Glam Glow and Rodin Olio Lusso) in the space of two months. Unilever followed suit with the acquisition of British natural skin care brand REN in early 2015 indicating that this is the year of niche. In addition, Asia’s beauty influence in skin care is becoming increasingly stronger, from innovation to multi-step routines, and the continent, with South Korea in particular, is increasingly regarded as the holy ground of skin care innovation. As skin care remains the biggest contributor to absolute growth and makes up around a quarter of total beauty’s annual revenue, innovation, a key driver of growth will remain a key focus of beauty players. The rise of devices in skin care , from cleansing to anti-ageing and electronic face masks, has shaken up both the competitive field and innovation in skin care. From DNA testing, to picture analysis, to diagnostic apps, the selection of skin care products will continue to become even more personalised. Moving forward, skin care diagnostics is expected to gain presence in apps and in-store. In fact, smaller product areas within skin care such as face masks and specialised treatments like oils have been growing very strongly. Face masks saw particularly fast growth in skin care in 2013, a position the category is predicted to keep till 2016 inclusive. The influence of Asia in skin care is expected to remain a strong highlight in 2015 including novel concepts, products, formats and benefits. Skin care is expected to continue to have an Asian trend focus with Chanel’s newest product to hit the shelves in the US called Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro-Serum, indicating that the quest of hydration is set to be strong across both side of the price spectrum. Asia is also influencing skin care as the region is well-known for multi-step routines involving an array of products, with many Western brands adding product offerings like essence and emulsion to their portfolio. Regulations have always strongly influenced trends in cosmetics, and skin care in particular.
While it might come as a surprise to some people, the fact of the matter is that Korean Skin Care Brands have proven their commitment to quality already. No wonder, an increasingly large number of consumers from the West are now hooked on to top Korean Skin Care Brands including Caviar and Missha among others. A large number of consumers now attribute their clear and flawless skin to Korean skincare products. While you too may want to be all groomed up, head to toe, by choosing the top Korean skin care brands, it’s important not to forget the fundamental secrets of Korean skincare. Here’s a compilation of useful skincare secrets that you can use in combination of a fine blend of different skin care products from Korea: Use a combination of the branded Korean skin care products – Korean women, who use more than a dozen skin care products (for everything from whitening and healing to quick makeup) should be your inspiration. Make it a point to procure only the best skin care products. As long as you stick to the best skin care Korean brands, choosing the right sunscreen product shouldn’t be hard. For a typical skin care product, you can follow the standard ‘Cleansing, toning and finally, moisturizing’ cycle. Use masks, sheets or face packs – While some products (Korean BB creams, for example) have been derived from other countries and refined to make them perfect for a Korean skin care regime, many other skincare solutions in South Korea have been tried and tested for centuries. At MTS Rollers , we help you procure products from the best Korean skin care brands at an affordable price.

There was a time when the harvesting of these birds nests from their natural caves was ecologically devastating, but the days of cave harvesting are over. I was able to find research backing the skincare benefit claims of some of the individual components of a bird’s nest, but could find no research in English that studied the bird’s nest as a whole in terms of skincare benefits. But if the skincare benefits are as real as they seem, I certainly don’t want to miss out. Bee venom has been used for years to treat arthritis, back pain, and rheumatism, but as a skincare ingredient, it’s still a newcomer. The idea is that the skin benefits from it because of a compound contained in the venom called “melitten.” Melitten contains anti-inflammatory properties that are said to be stronger than hydrocortisone. I was unable to find a completed study specifically regarding the effects of bee venom in skincare. No doubt you’ve seen American products advertising stem cell technology, but the difference is that the stem cells in American products are plant derived. The skincare benefits of using these stem cells, sometimes called called RG 2, is increased cell regeneration and sun damage reversal. There have been many studies done on the efficacy of stem cell technology in skincare, and it looks as though the claims are true. Stem cell based skincare is huge in Korea, with many experts arguing that it’s the greatest innovation in skincare to date. It has the potential to be huge here, but there is a lot of controversy over stem cell research and usage in this country. Most products featuring Syn-ake are serums, although there are some skincare lines that feature moisturizing creams and emulsions containing the compound. Like bee venom, Syn-ake is touted as a Botox alternative, but what sets it apart is that there have actually been studies done on its safety and efficacy. What I’ve learned from all this is that I apparently have no boundaries when it comes to skincare.
